Burn enough calories to keep you at a slight deficit.

I was going to recommend eating at a small deficit, too, but you beat me to it. If you are looking for fat loss, and muscle gains, I also wouldn't worry so much about the scale, but get a measuring tape, or calipers, and track your measurements, or body fat % instead. I've seen a few people, women included, do full…

I log everything, but sometimes the fruits, and vegetables will be hidden in a recipe. I had chicken noodle soup last night with celery, and carrots, in it, but you wouldn't notice, because as a recipe, it only lists it as "chicken noodle soup".

Protein pie: for the crust, you can either use a reduced fat graham cracker crust, but I noticed it still has trans fat, so after some experimenting I took about 2 servings of Fiber One graham cereal, blended it to a powder, mixed with about 3 egg whites then baked for 10 minutes. Let cool. For the filling: Chocolate pie:…

Body Fortress is fine. It tastes best when blended with a little milk, and frozen fruit. It is less expensive than most other protein powders out there. I used it a lot when making protein shakes.

Be careful with the home models. I love the ones in the gym. I can burn a lot of calories, and it doesn't hurt my knees like running does. I was thinking about buying one, at one time, and when I stepped on it to try it out, it was quite jerky, and felt weird. I didn't like the way it felt, so I decided against it. If you…

To me....Eating at restaurants is always "eating well". It's just hard to fit it into my daily caloric allowances. I've heard that you can always eat "off menu", by asking for grilled chicken, plain salad, and some kind of fruit, (if you don't see anything that looks like it will fit your "needs". ) Many…

Egg whites will be lower calories, but not necessarily "healthier". There is a lot of nutrition, and healthy fats in the yolk. Whole eggs will give you more flavor, and a fuller omelette, too. I love to make mine with a little cheese, sausage, and mushrooms. I'll usually use 2 whole eggs, and one egg white.

Everyone I've seen that have done "fad diets", has failed to research all the pros, and cons, and has failed to pay attention to the maintenance phase of the program. I had many friends that have done HCG. Every one of them did it for a quick weight loss to either win weight loss competitions, or they wanted to lose for a…

It comes out just like regular waffles. Cook it the same as you would a regular waffle, You can add a little oil to it, but they work for me with just a little Pam. You can also make pancakes that way, but you would have to heat those in a microwave. I usually use old fashioned oats, but have used steel cut before. I…

While it is not actually a breakfast sandwich, I like to make a big batch of waffles: per serving it is 3 egg whites 1/2 cup cottage cheese 1/2 cup oats 1/4 tsp vanilla extract blend it all together then cook in the waffle iron. The other day, I blended spinach in with it for good results. (it turned the waffles green, but…

It may have been a slight exaggeration.

Or you could hijack one of the other 900 threads that have been posted today on that same topic.

That's one of the reasons I do it the way I do. My current wife is awesome, and very responsible, My ex wasn't, but we also have other reasons, too. I have to pay child support, and alimony, so it isn't fair for my wife to have to share that burden. I pay that out of my money, as well as buy groceries for when my kids come…

Ooooh!!! Good idea.... Now I just need to invest in shoelace companies.

Don't forget to buy overpriced shakes, or supplements.

I'm not trying to mock anything, but every time I've started eating healthy, and cut my calories, I've lost between 5 and 10 lbs in the first week. Most people lose a lot of water weight when they cut out certain foods.

This. ^^^ Losing weight, and getting fit is a lot like quitting smoking, drinking, or drugs. Nobody can be forced to do it. The desire has to come from within. All you can do is refuse to enable him, and give encouragement.

My wife, and I have our separate accounts, and a joint account. We both transfer money into the joint account to pay the bills, then use our separate accounts to buy our own "wants, or needs". It works wonderfully, for us. When I was married to my ex, we fought over money all the time, and sharing the one account for…

My wife is awesome. She buys cookies, then put them in baggies and puts her name on them, so they don't tempt me. She lets me cook my meals without argument, even though I can see the squirm on her face as I stink up the apartment, and make messes. She doesn't insist on eating out, and allows me to stay on track, waiting…

While that may be true, there is nothing wrong with a smoothie, or protein shake, here, or there. They are a good, healthier, substitute for sweets like ice cream, and milk shakes.

I had some sprite zero left over from when I was sick about a week ago. I made one using: 8 ounces of sprite zero 1/2 cup frozen cherries 1/4 cup frozen rasberries 2 tbsp. lime juice(from concentrate) 1 scoop of whey, but I think a cup of greek yogurt would be good, too 2 frozen spinach cups I also saw a recipe on eating…

I usually drink water, but I have used crystal light energy for the caffeine boost in a pre-workout drink.

I've weighed both before, and after. I believe 4 oz of raw chicken came out to about 3 oz of cooked chicken. If you check the MFP database, I think 4 oz of grilled chicken comes out at a higher calorie count than what you get with the raw numbers.
-
I do the same thing. It helps keep the scale, and your food cleaner from bacteria as the scale would be hard to wash.
-
It still classifies me as overweight. I did a reading with my calipers last night, they put me at 11% bodyfat. I'd have to lose a lot of muscle to get down to a healthy weight according to either BMI scale.
-
I'm not sure what brand it is. It allows me to read in grams, ounces, kilograms, or lbs. I accidentally melted my old scale. I believe I bought it at Walmart.
-
I believe it is before cooking.

All the chicken breasts I've ever bought has based the nutritional information on 4 oz. worth of chicken. Most of the time I've weighed them, they average between 6 oz to 12 oz for each breast, and if I buy the tenders from Costco, they usually range from 2 oz to 4 oz per piece. I usually try to weigh them, then I will…

I saw a lady win a transformation challenge at 150 lbs. I don't think she lost a single pound through the whole transformation, but she sure improved her shape. It should never be about scale weight. Health, and appearance are what make the difference.
