I unburied the cookbook....lol I had to look on Amazon to be sure which one I had ordered, because I knew I got some cookbook. Anyway, I do have it ready. But I talked to the PA today and we meet on Thursday. In the meantime, she told me to stop the protein shakes (yea) and just eat when I am hungry, but for now only…

Thanks Ann, excited to hear "scolded for not getting enough carbs"....lol I know I can't go crazy and should have known it would be ok in moderation. FF refried beans would be great too! Might help in "other areas". Honestly was getting a little "poor me syndrome", pitiful huh? But it's so encouraging to see others doing…

Prayers already sent! I know you will do fine. I admire the thoroughness of your Dr's office. Can't wait to hear how everything went. Will continue to prayer for a successful surgery and smooth recovery! Debbie :)

Thank you, all those foods sounds great!! I'm surprised by the higher carb foods like grits, oatmeal, mashed potatoes, etc. I figured with the Bypass the higher carb and higher fat foods would be off limits, at least for now. I was eating FF cottage cheese with tuna on top on my pre-op diet, would love to go back to that.…

Ok, doing this from memory, haven't made in a while, but always a favorite. 1 large can of whole tomatoes 1/2 large onion garlic clove 2-4 Serrano peppers, seeds and membranes out if you want less heat juice of a lime salt and pepper to taste bunch of cilantro I make this in a blender. I drain the tomatoes and put liquid…

I'd ordered some liquid Tylenol, and I have been taking my vitamins. I only had to take the Hydrocodone 1 through the night to get back to sleep. I'll be talking with the Dr's office tomorrow. Thanks again! :)

Thanks for the ideas. I thought if all else fails I'd go for the children's Tylenol, but found generic on Amazon to order. I'll keep looking in the stores too.
-
Thanks everyone! I will be getting some liquid tylenol. I don't like taking the Hydrocodone either. That's scary about the leg cramps, because I feel like I'm drinking so much already that my stomach could bust. Granted not more than 8 cups a day, but that's a lot for me.

Thanks, it's good to know I'm not the only one who gains. I did email my Dr to ask if I could take my water pill every other day. Wish I had thought of that sooner and ask to just taper off instead of cold turkey. Monday will be a week post-op and I'm still up 6 pounds. Kinda discouraging, but knowing it's common and…

Thank you so much for all your comments! Today I can see much improvement. I thought I was getting plenty of exercise by doing general walking around the house. Didn't allow my family to wait on me other than lifting things, but yesterday went on a couple of real walks and walked in the house from front to back and what a…

Congratulations!! Very inspirational for me since I'm just 3 days post-op and still in the gained, swollen stage. And what is A1C? Be sure to give an update when it's over. :)

Thank y'all for your input. I went ahead and had them removed. The main reason I have them is I have a horrible, embarrassing habit of picking the skin around my nails. Worse habit than eating, if you can imagine. Because already I have torn my fingers up. :( I am going to make sure I keep lotion on throughout the day to…

Hi Rachael! Welcome! I'm currently in the pre-op stage. I've read from many that years out can be a struggle, so glad you joined us here. Tracking your food is soooo important. Having a place to go for support (here) is also very beneficial. I hope you will check back often for encouragement. We ALL need it!

Thank you for sharing this site!! It looks great and can't wait to try. (Still in pre-op liquid stage). Your idea also sounds delicious!!

I know it's a disappointment, but like you listed, you have so much on your plate that it sounds like it's a blessing in disguise. I can't imagine having so many emotional issues at one time. {{hugs to you}} Your plan is a great one. Stick with FP, logging daily is a HUGE benefit. Plus the more you lose prior will only…

Welcome! I've had people try to talk me out of it, but get more support than not. A couple of friends my age tell me the negatives and if I just ate like I will have to after the surgery I wouldn't need it. They are much thinner of course, and I know they mean well, just concerned, but I have tried "numerous" things and do…

Back from vacation and so good to see others so close to their surgery date! I gained 8 pounds on vacation! Ugh!! Started so well for a couple of days, then....well, you know...,. But I started the 2 week liquid diet on Monday and dropped 4.5 pounds the first day and 1.5 the 2nd day. So I feel confident I'll have the 8…

I've heard the same, to shrink the liver. I just started it yesterday, my surgery is Oct 14th. Although my Dr doesn't require total liquids. He allows 1 small 2-4 oz protein meal a day with 2 protein shakes and 64 oz of water. It's been tougher than I thought. Somehow it's causing me heartburn, or what feels like it.…

Thanks so much for taking the time to do a year after follow up! I am scheduled for the Bypass Oct 14th. I will start my liquid diet on Monday. I am actually looking forward to it as I just got home from vacation and ate way too much. But at least it confirmed my decision that without surgery it will only get worse. I love…

The PA told me today to get Premiere Protein shakes. I'm going to stop at look at Walgreens on my way home tomorrow. She said she loved the chocolate ones. I've been drinking the Adkins Advantage and doing ok with them, but I'm not on pure liquids yet. She told me no more carbs. But it's 4 weeks from today for me. We can…

Thank you all so much for your support! It is so encouraging to see others already down the road and others of us ready to take the new journey. I had a bit of a scare today. I met with the PA and although I started this journey last Nov, my Dr only required me to lose 5 pounds and I gained. :( So when they made this…

We went back to the sleeve surgeon today and our PCP and to make a long story shorter he diagnosed him with Thrush!! He was almost excited...lol He said that could definitely cause the nausea and loss of appetite and would explain how it got worse right after the last repair surgery. At least from what I'm reading because…

The New Year is now here so it's time for me to start my waiting process for my surgery. I met with the nutritionist this week and gained from my last month's visit, so now I have an additional 5 pounds to lose. I'm off to a good start. My husband has had a really tough time since his surgery last October, so I have been…

Welcome to the recent sleevers!! I'm still a WLS person in waiting. Not sure which surgery I will have, hoping for the sleeve, but insurance at this time is not cooperating. My husband had the sleeve on 10-19-12, but he also had a larger hernia repair done at the same time, so his surgery was open. He's having a rough time…

What is the honeymoon period?
-
Yes, congratulations!! Which surgery are you going with? I'm still in the required waiting. Unsure which surgery myself at this point, either sleeve or bypass. I've heard some can return to work in a week and some a month, it just depends, we are all different. Good luck, excited to see your success/ .

Hey Debbie, how odd, both Debbie's, both 6 month waits. Do you know which surgery you want to have?
-
Hello all, another Debbie here. So glad to see this group here and that both Bypass and Sleeve patients post here because I'm not sure which one I will be having. Like another Debbie posted earlier, I just started my 6 month wait that my insurance requires. I had decided on the sleeve, but when I went for my 3-4 hour…
