I like it all, the less familiar the better. We have a pub in town here that changes their beer up pretty regularly which is fun. Most recent beer i enjoyed was Amsterdam's Boneshaker unfiltered IPA. Every time Innis & Gunn puts something new out, it makes me happy. For the OP: http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/22/3523…

It Happens Every Spring (1949). Not realistic, but a fun baseball film. Similar to the original Angels in the Outfield in terms of fantasy. Goon (2011) was a great hockey movie. The 1974 film The Longest Yard was fun. If we're counting horse racing as a sport, the Sea Biscuit.

FIFTY DOLLAR BILLS!! OK, really - cream cheese & lox.

Those sound like great, realistic goals to work with a certified trainer on. And wow did you get a deal on that bell!!

Yes - will have to look up Mahler - sounds intriguing.

I'm not sure about the technical answer to this question, from a nutritional point of view. For me the problem isn't that i wouldn't have energy if i didn't eat, it's that i'd probably go into a rage and eat the first person/animal that stepped in front of me if i didn't eat breakfast beforehand. If i eat breakfast, i'm a…

Exercises: Clean & Jerk, Turkish Getups, because i feel like i still have a ton to work on with those. Drill (or workout, i guess): Chrissy. Because i hate it. We did it last night in class, it's something we do every now and again to see how we're doing with time/fitness. Many of you likely know it, but for those who…

I put my HRM in my pocket (or on the floor as IronSmasher mentions) whenever doing anything involving a kettlebell (or 2) going overhead. During a high-pulls session, i learned quickly that even if you don't think it's going to make contact with the forearm, it might...landing square on your HRM if you have it on.

So trolling has been outsourced now?

I think Lupercalia may be on to something, but really, without seeing you do it, it's hard to know precisely what is going on/wrong. Do you have someone knowledgeable nearby who could watch & critique? Or maybe film yourself, watch it & see if you notice anything odd.

If you want to know what scurvy looks like, look at Keith Richards.

All the seafood you want.

The Turkish Getup video is equally bad. She's using a weight that she can easily keep up above her head without locking out the arm...so if she eventually tries something over 10 lbs or whatever, yikes.

I don't find the "size" of the bell to be disconcerting. If the weight is the same as a traditional style, it doesn't bother me. If it's 20 kilos, i know that i can control it regardless of the size. I like the consistency of the size when switching weights - they all sit the same way during getups, etc. The only thing…

No. I tried it briefly but as mentioned above, sometimes it was worse than not wearing them. I too have tried chalk, tape, etc. Occasionally taping up an injured part of the hand helps, but most of the time it just comes off. I am not the most hardcore kettlebeller out there but my hands do get torn up pretty good too,…

Looking forward to it starting up this weekend. I'm curious as to how much they will change/keep from book 3 when they get to it, because that's where things really get crazy.

If you could get your hands on a heart rate monitor, that would be the best way to find out.

These days, i only have muesli, Ancient Grains or Red River. There was a time when i swore up & down that i would not change my cereal selections and loved every kind possible. Then i realized i had to be more adult about my choices if i actually wanted to lose weight and get healthier. Key factor: i used to have 2 huge…

Too many variables to factor in when using database style calculators...age, fitness level, size, weight, intensity, etc.
-
My personal philosophy: if you do the crime, you do the time. Workout!
-
I don't think i found an exercise in the database way back when, so i made my own. I don't use the list anymore anyway as i don't think it's particularly accurate. I wear a heart rate monitor. I created my own kettlebell exercises on my exercise list. I then adjust the time when i enter to match the calories my monitor…

I thought about that but in the end went with bean bags. That way if it fell on their face, no harm done. I like the shoe on fist idea better. With one or two kids, i would have done the shoe, but with 20 something kids, i couldn't risk it.

Well, if that fellow in that previous video tried whatever he's doing with more weight, he'd learn pretty quickly not to do it that way. The hard way. In response to something from above, I jokingly asked my instructor if we were ever going to do Turkish Get-ups for time. He laughed. As an aside, i taught my grade 2 kids…

How did you come up with 1200 calories? Is that what MFP told you to use based on all of your data?
-
That if i just exercised a lot, i could eat as much crappy food as i wanted & i'd lose weight.

I went to buy a pair of headphones a month or so back. I was looking to buy some decent ones. I picked up some iSport Monster headphones for less than half price. As far as i could tell, they were the same as the ones at regular price beside them on the rack except for the colour (i.e. yellow vs. blue). There were dozens…

Yes! I always enjoy a good one solo based mostly on one or two notes. The Who - I Can See for Miles, or similarly, the Ramones - I Wanna Be Sedated, and slightly in the same vein, Tommy Gun by the Clash. Anything by Prince. Here's a guy who solos in every scale you can think of: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRHIR69r4ZI

What exercises are you doing with the kettlebell? And good on you for not starting way too light like so many folks do (i know i did!). I wouldn't expect to experience the same kind of muscle soreness as you might get from other types of workouts. I get sore from kettlebells but not in the same way as from free weights,…

One of the nice things about kettlebells is that as soon as you start going heavier with the weight, you quickly learn whether your technique is sound or not. One of the hard things about kettlebells is that as soon as you start going heavier with the weight, you quickly learn whether your technique is sound or not. You…

For better anchoring there's the X-mount (you can buy it from TRX, but also other places). It's basically a round metal plate with to curved bars coming off it that make an X. I have mine bolted on to the ceiling beam in the basement. It's very sturdy. You can attach the straps to the X part of it.
