  • If it's good coffee, black. If i'm on the road & it's coffee from a fast food place (like Tim Hortons), 1 milk 1 sugar to cover the bad tasting coffee flavour.

  • Have you filmed yourself swinging? You could do this to see what your form looks like. 45 minutes is definitely not a short time to swing for & if you're using a challenging weight, your form could be slipping (which you did mention) - maybe something gets fatigued and causes form to degrade. I'm not super experienced, but…
  • Look at it this way: at least you're not bald.
  • I don't use gloves. I did try them just for the heck of it early on but felt that i didn't have as much control over the bell as when i didn't wear them. I also found that i would still get blisters caused from the gloves shifting & rubbing as i swung. I use chalk, mostly to absorb some of the sweat on my hand (i sweat a…
  • They have them up in Canada too - a bunch of us travelled to Toronto to watch one a couple of years back. Tough stuff!!
  • I correct the grammar of others frequently, but only between the hours of 9:00-3:30 on weekdays and in class during the school year. If we all went around correcting other people (unnecessarily) on every little thing we disagreed with or did not like, we'd get nothing else done in life.
  • Do you have someone who can analyze your form for whatever the exercise was? I've had to take time off too from kettlebells & it's no fun not being able to do what you want.
  • Spider-Man is the all time favourite for me. He's the most normal/messed up guy who has real world problems, plus he was pretty much the first non-adult superhero with any depth of character. When that comic came out it was different and kind of revolutionary in the comic world. 2nd fav: Captain Marvel (SHAZAM), not the…
  • Studied Aikido for 5 or 6 years and some Japanese stick stuff too. Have been practicing Escrima (Filipino system with Sticks/knives/empty hands) for several years now. Recently attended an Urban Combatives weekend with Lee Morrison which was phenomenal. Edit: I also love Kung Fu movies too - especially the old Shaw…
  • I started watching Dr. Who when i was 5 & haven't stopped (well, i missed the Colin Baker/Sylvester McCoy years mostly). Thank goodness for TeeFury and all their Dr. Who shirts.

  • Your original "Smells Like (Plaid) Flannel" is a good one.
  • I put on a heart rate monitor when i do the workouts. I created my own title for kettlebell workouts and adjust the time to match whatever the monitor tells me after i'm done. I frequently do that - use a HRM then force the exercise on the database to match it by messing with the amount of time.
  • No. I eat much better and exercise much more overall which means my health is pretty much going to be better overall. Now getting injured, that's a different story...
  • Under the Dome is OK. I didn't enjoy it nearly as much as many of King's other books. The show is...yeah. Reading: "Prairie *****" by Alison Arngrim (Nellie) from Little House on The Prairie. It's pretty crazy, gut wrenching at parts and hilarious too much of the time. Also reading the first book of the Chinese classic…
  • Heh, i read that & thought "that sounds like something i'd say about ceiling/floor issues". Since i wrote that our kettlebell club started going full year around so i get lots of cleans, jerks, snatches, Turkish getups, etc in each week. My home workouts mostly consists now of barbells (with a powerrack with a lower height…

  • Yes - partly why i referenced Pavel in my post. And -good point!
  • When i started (before i found a kettlebell club in our area with a certified instructor - which is the way to go if you can do so), i began by watching videos of Pavel & also Tracy Reifkind that i found on youtube. I still think that both of their videos are a good place to start. Not sure if anything by him is still up…
  • Great job - and hope the show was great. The Keswick is the best venue i've ever been to.
  • Some...interesting...variations on form there. The holding the kettelbell in front of the arm thing is...revolutionary. Yikes.
  • I bought a fairly cheap power rack for about 400 bucks new plus tax. I got it at Fitness Avenue in Mississauga. I've had it for about 6 months and it's been great so far. It's saved me a couple of times when i've gone too heavy on bench pressing. I would never weight lift & push myself at home without it.
  • Spider-Man. Always wanted to be Spider-Man. Not there yet. When i was in my late teens, i figured i'd want to be a teacher because i thought they did something important and had a good influence on my life. Ended up working in finance & insurance instead (behind the scenes) for a long time. Also "worked" on the side as a…
  • I just got back from a circuit style kettlebell class. It involved a warm up of light jogging on the spot, ballistic stretching and then into kbells. We did about 40 minutes of work with 1 minute breaks every now and again. It consisted of 2 handed swings, 1 handed swings, sumo squats each for a minute or so. This was…
  • Black coffee. Done.
  • They are the best. Every fall i look forward to them, eat tons and then eat no apples through the winter because i can't get fresh honeycrisps.
  • I tried gloves just to experiment & see for myself. My hands still got roughed up as the gloves still rubbed the skin underneath. Maybe they don't fit properly...hmm. I get blisters and then either tears or calluses depending on a number of factors (weather, weight, etc). I find that if i use a 16kg bell i am far less…
