I have read that a low glycemic diet helps with the PCOS, but I have not really tried that myself. You could google low GI and PCOS. There is tons of information about it. Also, if your diary were open, that might help you get more information. It is hard to give advice without really knowing what you are eating. If you…

Hi Everyone! I am a mother of one, looking to lose around 10 lbs. It doesn't seem like a lot, but I have hit a plateau and the scale doesn't want to budge! I have PCOS,which makes it very hard to lose weight, but I have lost 39 lbs so far, and am not about to give up now when I am so close to my goal weight! Strategies I…

I was diagnosed with PCOS several years ago. It is harder to lose the weight, it takes more time, but it is doable. I have lost 39 lbs in about 8 months by exercising (1 hour of group fitness classes 6 days a week) and also by consistently logging my food intake. I follow a 1300 cal/day diet. I have found that eating small…

I'm very sorry about your loss. I too had pre-eclampsia when I was pregnant with my daughter. I would agree with finding a high risk OB/Gyn for anyone who has PCOS & gets pregnant, because of this risk...

It has taken me 8 months to lose the weight. I exercise 6 days per week. I do 1 hour fitness classes each day, either cardio or strength classes. I also consistently log my food, and adjust my calories as needed. If I notice that I am not losing weight, then I decrease calories. Being consist with logging my food intake…

Thank you for posting this. I am not on Metformin, because my symptoms of insulin resistance have mostly disappeared since I lost weight. I probably would have ended up having to take it had I not lost weight. I used to have a lot of trouble controlling my blood glucose levels, but no more. I am currently on spironolactone…

I agree. I have a history of insulin resistance. It is related to another health issue that I have, PCOS. I have had to change my diet dramatically, but I no longer have symptoms of insulin resistance. I could not have lost the weight with just calorie counting alone. It certainly was part of the equation, but I had to…

I do a weekly calorie goal rather than daily & it does help when you do have a bad day because as long as you stick to an overall deficit, you will still see results:)

I agree with the other posters. If it is an malnourishment issue, it's up to the person's doctor to talk to them about it. Most doctors do weight & blood pressure every appointment. They are professionals & know what this persons weight, nutrient needs, etc should be. If they physician feels like it is a mental health…

I have been on Spironolactone for about 5 years, and it works wonders for me. I was actually initially placed on it by a dermatologist for acne, but noticed that it helped with some of my other PCOS symptoms, as well. So, my doctor kept me on it. It really has been helpful for me.

Hi! 600-800 is low, but I have been told by my Dr to go lower than 1200 calories, because of how PCOS affects metabolism. Anyway, it sounds like your Dr feels that low calorie would help your health issues. In certain situations, doctors do put people on very low calorie diets because of health problems, and it helps the…

Check out Go Picnic meals. I have to take lunches that I can eat on the go. I have no access to a microwave or fridge while @ work. I love Go Picnic meals. They are very good, healthy and shelf-stable. They are a little expensive in the grocery stores but you can order them online at Amazon.com for about $3.50 a meal.…

I agree that it is more expensive to buy healthier food. But when I eat healthier, I actually end up spending less on groceries because I'm not eating out as much, nor do I eat as much food, especially junk. I spend probably $75 a week for my daughter & I, including toiletries & pet food. I buy what I can @ Walmart & then…

Thank you for sharing this video. I was not aware that she has PCOS. This video gives me hope:) I was diagnosed with it several years ago. It makes it so difficult to lose weight, but, I agree with what she says about clean eating and exercise. It makes a big difference.
