Yes, calories from things like that really add up. I have a weight scale for liquids, so I weigh every bit of milk that I put into my coffee. I use skim and can easily drink 200-300 Kcals a day with coffee alone. Lately, I've been frothing the milk and just making lattes and cappuccinos. That seems to lower the calories a…

I travel a lot for work too. In fact, I have a trip coming up soon. I plan to just continue to log food and get in exercise when I can. I will try to balance calories in versus out just as I would at home. Although the restaurant meals won't be exact, I will at least log them and be as accurate as possible. Also, I booked…

Oh, and the steps seem to be pretty accurate on the Fitbit. I was doing wrist exercises the other day because I have wrist issues. In spite of moving my arms a lot, it did not count the movement as steps. I have never had it count steps in the car. I've also compared it to the step count on my Samsung Watch and it was…

I have a Fitbit Alta (not HR) and the exercise calories burned are surprisingly accurate. I used to manually figure out my calorie burns for exercise based on my height, weight, age, etc. I find that the Fitbit numbers are very similar to my manual calculations. I do think that the total calories burned for the day are…

Several years ago, I lost a lot of weight. I got down to my normal range for my height. I was not underweight. However people kept telling me that I had lost too much weight and that I looked sick - at my normal BMI. Anyway, I eventually stop counting calories and keeping a food log. I told myself I didn't need to keep…

I noticed that you took a break from Oct-mid Jan, I am assuming that you did not consistently weigh food during that time? If so, then it has only been a month since you have been back on track. For me, it takes a while before I see much weight come off (although I am older than you & have a medical issue that likely slows…

Back in Dec 2013, I hit my goal weight and had lost about 35 pounds. After hitting my goal weight, I stopped logging. The weight slowly returned. I am now back to my previous weight. I have logged my food on and off for years, every time that I stop, I gain weight again. I am back to logging everything that I eat. From now…

Hi, I have been on Spiro & BC for years. Every time that I try to go off the BC, my hormones get really messed up. I always end up going back on it. With the spiro, I get acne, facial hair, bloated once I stop taking it. I am concerned about the side effects, but have found, at least for me, that the benefits outweigh side…

Yes, I have this problem too. I used to have people ask me all the time if I were pregnant. It was so embarrassing! This was before I knew that I had PCOS & could not figure out why I was so bloated. I take spirolactone now, which I think has helped alot. Also, I have noticed less bloating when I eat lower carbs. Good Luck!

I have also been taking spiro for years. At first I had some minor side effects, which went away after a couple of weeks. Mostly, feeling really thirsty and having to urinate frequently. Anyway, spiro has helped tremendously, especially with acne. But, it does take several months to see improvement. Good luck!

These meals are portion controlled. This will definitely help with weight loss. When I was in college, I lost about 50 lbs eating frozen meals. I think that they are useful for convenience. But now, I don't eat them unless I am really crunched for time. I try to cook whenever I can. I think that home cooked food taste much…

Lately, I have been using International Delight creamers. But, sometimes I use 1/2 C unsweetened almond milk, 2 Splenda packets, and 2 Tbl of fat free reddi whip. Then, I sprinkle cocoa powder on top. It taste like the coffee shop drinks but only with 30 calories. So good!

You said he has severe autism? If so, then making a game out of it would probably not help, as it is sensory related. I was thinking headphones, or something to dampen the sound/lights. Blackout curtains may help...Also, it might help to give him something familiar that he can use for self-soothing. Good luck!

I used to be in the overweight range BMI wise. I have lost 43 lbs & am now in the healthy range. I get people saying I have lost too much weight even though I would have to lose quite a bit more to be underweight BMI wise. When I was younger, I was about this weight, and no one ever said I looked too thin...In fact, I…

I feel the exact same way when my asthma acts up. I also cough a lot when it is bad.

Thanks for the link! When I do eat out, I usually look up the restaurant's nutrition information before I go & plan what I will eat ahead of time. Having all the info in one place seems convenient. It is a hassle sometimes going to each individual website to search for nutrition info.

Yep, Just read an article on this today, about how food cravings are engineered by the Big Food companies. A lot of research goes into finding ways to make us addicted to junk food! http://www.cbc.ca/news/health/story/2013/03/05/f-vp-crowe-food-addiction.html

Yeah I read that somewhere too. Actually, the article said that Trader Joe's is owned by a different division of Aldi's parent company. It also said that in Adli's stores overseas they sell Trader Joe's branded items!

June 4th exercise,, yes calories,, yes tracked,, yes

Yes, I noticed that I don't lose @ all if I enter all my exercise calories for the day. I believe that the amounts on here are likely too high. When your body becomes accustomed to a certain routine then you stop burning as many calories. The calorie allotments here do not take into account these things. Personally, I…

This is a great post, and a good example of why medically supervised low calorie diets are appropriate for some people. Good luck on your goals:)
