Maybe it is just the age of being 3. He is getting better but he still says he doesn't like it there and pouts and whines when I say we are going to the gym. I think the fact that he started preschool a couple of days a week is helping. he is getting better about not being with me for short bursts of time.

Hmmm...I threw my scale out. I refuse to step on one unless I am at the docs office! But maybe I could do a waist measurement and try to loose an inch in Sept. Does that sound realistic?

I took a class today called CSI - it was a cardio step/strength/interval training and it may have been one of the hardest things I have ever done!!! 715 calories burned! I am now 445 calories beyond the 7k goal!!! Wooohooooo!

Took a Zumba class this morning 431 calories burned leaves me with 270. I will take zumba again as it is a good cardio class and fits my schedule - but I have no coordination and luckily can laugh at myself cause I am pretty sure I was super foolish looking - LOL

For me having a good breakfast with protein is key!

I do have a garden. A HUGE garden! There is nothing like a homegrown tomato!!! I also love having fresh herbs.

I like to make Asian lettuce wraps. I brown a small pkg of ground chicken or turkey with a can of water chestnuts I have drained and chopped up and some onion. Then I add some teriyaki sauce and lots of fresh grated ginger and garlic. I use romaine leaves cause that is what I usually have on hand. I set out lots of fresh…

My husbands family recently had an event and I knew it would be fried chicken, potato salad, mac salad, yada, yada, fatty, starchy, yada... So I offered to bring sides! I made rosemary roasted carrots. Creole beans and brown rice. A big fruit salad with loads of berries. A cuke and tomato salad with some feta and red…

I would never use them as a sub for Italian pasta - use spaghetti squash or even zuke shred into noodles instead. But I LOVE them in Asian style noodle dishes! Make sure you rinse and drain them well before using. I love to make a noodle bowl with these, some chicken stock and miso paste then toss in lots of crisp fresh…

When I was pregnant with my first I had GD and had to be very careful about eating carbs. My ILs took us to a fancy Italian place for dinner one night and I was panic stricken. I looked online and I called ahead to ask a few questions - explaining to them my concern. I ended up having a salad and antipasti and then a veal…

I LOVE fast food - of all kinds. I have had to just put a stop to it completely. For me it is too much - too much for my waist, my pocket book, and my socio/political sense. Plus I have small kids and really want to be a good roll model to them. I don't want to support an industry that has so many problems from how they…

I am 45. I was never athletic but I was always thin and active. I worked in hospitals so was on my feet 8-12 hours a day. I had babies late in life at 40 and 42. Then I became a stay at home mom and I got flabby and squishy. So now I need to exercise like I never have before. I started C25k a year ago and did a color run…

I really think the lack of support people get from their real life friends is a whole lot more about THEIR issues with guilt and self esteem over their own personal eating and exercise issues. I am not doing this for anyone else except for me (and my little kids - but they are actually pretty damn supportive!) I am making…

Hang in there! Making time for yourself to exercise feels like taking time away from the other things at first. Honestly though after a while it just becomes your routine and your whole family will benefit from it. I felt the same way at first. Now I write a daily to-do list and my planned work out is one of the check off…

Spin class this morning for 680 and a quick yoga tape with the kids late yesterday for 195 leaves me at 1291. So this is off the 7000 goal. I am totally surprised and thrilled with myself! I guess I will just see how well I can do this month to base future goals off of.

I did couch to 5 k and I highly recommend it! I was never a runner before I tried this program. I also wonder if your calves are hurting that much are you hydrated enough? I need a little energy before a morning run so a handful of dried fruit or a Lara Bar are a must for me before I stretch and run and PLENTY of water. Do…

As far as classes go really take the time to try out a number of things your gym offers. I have been really pleasantly surprised at the workouts I get and the fun I have. I am now doing spin, a cardio and strength interval class, and a vinyasa flow yoga class.
