I see your point, but on the other end, a spouse can be compassionate and supportive without the expectation of sacrificing their own happiness. It can be done.

Interesting. Honey never spoils, so I guess it's possible. I'd be concerned about the dairy though. If I don't see you around on the MFP boards tomorrow I guess we can deduce how this little experiment worked out

There have been cases of people being prosecuted for doing this. As awesome as it would be, not worth the risk IMO

Me too. Lucky Brand seem to be the only type that fit my body.

Welcome! I agree with the slow cooker suggestion. Such a time saver. Also planning out your meals is very helpful. Get your kiddos involved in your journey without them knowing it. Take them outside for walks, play in puddles, kick a ball around, etc. Kids also love to help in the kitchen with age-appropriate tasks such as…

 that made me snort

Are you talking about the premade ones you can buy in the deli area?

I love the laxative idea but you could get in big trouble for it. When I've had this problem in the past, I left a note saying "I licked this. If you still want to steal it, enjoy". Never had a problem again.

I've slowly cut out the sugar from my coffee and now just drink it with milk. I enjoy it that way now. I agree with Alyssa - nobody better ever get between me and my coffee.

Well the "Doctor" that came up with this diet is a naturopath with a black belt, according to his CV so that's good enough for me. BRB, off to get my blood typed.
-
Because it's gross. I like it in my coffee, but that's it. I can't stand the taste of plain milk.

It makes you fat. Doi. Kidding. I'm kidding.

All valid points. And thanks for the links. I suppose my frustration stems from the general attitude of making excuses for obesity rather than educating people to just consume less overall. I see this tax as an extension of that. I blurted out my opinion before educating myself. Rookie mistake. I am ashamed

This is a very interesting discussion. I live in Vancouver, which is considered affluent compared to most of the rest of Canada. It's also easy to remain active all year round, given our mild climate. I've noticed that people in general seem to be a healthier weight here as compared to when I travel throughout Canada and…

Didn't I answer this for you in another thread?

The obesity epidemic is not due to over-consumption of sugar. Taxing alcohol and tobacco have done nothing to curb their use.

I have an underweight son, aged almost 6. I don't know his BMI as we're not concerned enough about it to investigate further (he's very active, doing well in school, etc). This is a really touchy situation because you want to help him gain weight, but not implement unhealthy habits that may cause issues in the future. I'm…

The concern that I see here isn't the milk, it's your calories. 1300-1400 calories seems low. How did you come up with that figure? Milk is fine. As with anything else, make sure you're logging it. Adding tea does not negate health benefits.

I think it's ridiculous. It's being imposed under a guise that the purpose is to deal with the obesity epidemic, when in fact it's just another grab. I would much rather see additional money made available to educate people on healthy eating rather than eliminating a particular food. It won't solve anything at all.

I just experienced this exact same thing. Went on a trip to Vegas, the same day I returned home I got a horrible upper respiratory infection and was on the couch for a full week, barely able to make myself food let alone exercise. I ended up not being physically active at all for a full two weeks. Take it easy and listen…

Sorry to tell you, but extra weight has a big effect. Keep at it though. The improvement you'll see as you drop weight is a huge ego boost. Also, don't forget to incorporate strength training instead of solely running/ cardio.

No. That's a myth.

Yes. I offer you a money-back guarantee that if you eat at a calorie deficit, you will lose weight. MONEY BACK GUARANTEE!!!

Wow

Not sure if it's considered a machine, but the TRX is my favourite piece of equipment.

As hard as it may be, do you. Expecting your wife to conform to your choices is unreasonable and will cause strife. There have been many discussions on MFP about this very same thing. Just worry about yourself and hope that she will eventually follow suit.

Welcome back. Haven't seen you around here in a while.

I have a big Tupperware bowl from my Grandma that I absolutely love. It's got to be 30+ years old. The lid broke a couple of years ago and Tupperware honored their lifetime warranty and replaced the lid free of charge. I was impressed.

I love Pampered Chef, Tupperware and Scentsy products. I will buy MLM products, but I will not get involved in the "business".

A 2012 Mazda5. I love her. She now has the name Meltie Mazda since we were in this accident together about a year ago (don't worry, she got fixed up and is good as new).
