My mother in law, who is German, is the exact same way. She will ask half a dozen times, I will say "no thank you" and she'll put it in front of me anyways. I think for some it's just the way they were brought up.

If after a strength training session, I'm usually okay with blow drying my hair then adding some dry shampoo. After a serious cardio workout I have to wash my hair unfortunately. I sweat like crazy from my scalp. I have to plan my cardio workouts strategically on hair wash days.

I vote for gas pains. Raw broccoli makes me so gassy it's not even worth eating even though I love it. Gas pains can occur in weird places. If you lightly steam it, you will decrease/ eliminate the gas issue and it's still delicious, especially sprinkled with salt and pepper.
