  • I too had a cold last week along with a body wracking cough. I think it's been even longer for me. Sadly, one never forgets what a cold is like and how miserable I get. I too retired (sort of) in 2020 then started working this year but only 13 hours a week from home. I'm pretty sure the one time I went out to a public…
  • I'm from Leduc so I feel your pain with the cold, thankfully we've had a reprieve for these next few days. I struggle with walking in the cold no matter how much I bundle up and keep my self moving, I was thinking of going to some indoor facilities like deep water aquasize or a treadmill and weights for awhile. But good…
  • I would be one of those who is (re)new. I have a goal to feel good about my body and for me this means being a little less painful and a little lighter on my feet. I also (re)joined Noom. I loved it before and it really make me think hard about myself. CBT isn't for everyone but it works for me as long as "I believe". So…
  • Thanks for the info on Palmini I'm always on the lookout for a good noodle sub so I can give my beef bone broth something more.
  • I too have tried to "just" consume it and it's kind of odd to have it this way. I prefer adding it as a soup base with something else in it. Hamburger soup comes to mind.
  • Every so often someone comments, but I'm back for some #yegfitness
  • I haven't eaten refined white sugar for about a year and restrict occasional sweetened food to those made from honey, maple syrup, coconut palm sugar or fruits. I had headaches, cravings, temptations to avoid, hated having to make excuses and I caved in every so often. I don't have health issues, but I don't want them…
  • First of all, where are you getting your bread? Are you just buying a sandwich or buying a whole loaf? The idea is not to buy it but you could buy a gluten free or something made with nut-flours instead to satisfy the craving for now. If you are eating outside of the home, then you will need to think ahead on what a good…
  • I drink both tea and coffee, and wonder how a good bullet-proof oolong tea might taste. I must experiment with the Irish Breakfast tea though.
  • Feel free to add me as a friend and tell me what style of paleo / primal you are
  • Judging by the day this person was added and other contributions to MFP boards (none) I would call this person a troll <--google it. Sadly, there are quite a few on here right now
  • 1c Kale PLUS 1/2 avocado, 1 tsp nut butter, 1/4 scoop whey powder, 1/4 c fruit (frozen or fresh), 1 tbs Holy Crap (google it) then filled with coconut milk or water / almond milk / or just filtered water. Anything to cover up the flavour of kale ;)
  • Wow and at least we had a lake close by to cool off in, but I lived there before AC was in every house and car so the basement was my friend.
  • Used to live in Kelowna, BC so some of this kind of reminded me of those days...well, except for the cat. :)
  • I've been sucked into almost each one of these people philosophies, recipes, blogs, links, whatever and I can see why there are so many differing opinions about the fairly basic premise of whole foods. Everything from what current aboriginal tribal people use for toothbrushes (they don't have cavities or teeth problems…
  • I'm in and dried fruit is my enemy this week, so bad. But for the most part, I'm learning to be a meat / fish and veggie fan. I have sneaked peeks into a few food diaries and everyone is doing so well. Keep it up everyone!
  • The greatest part for me was my total elimination of processed and fast foods. Not an easy choice for a lot of people. My sodium is down my bad carbs from over processing is down. Fibre and protein and good fats up. I'm actually not calling it paleo anymore as that really isn't what it is. Sadly most people think all you…
  • Yup I'm in and "scale is not my friend" anyway so no issue not seeing it until the end of the month. Feel free to friend me.
  • Sounds interesting (I just googled it) I will have to read up more about it and definitely plan my meals I hope I don't get "stupid" which is how I felt the first week I was on paleo. I don't know whether that was due to the carb / brain connection or just me and the age/ menopause thing. I'll check back to see if anyone…
  • I started March 1 and it was fairly easy, you just have to stay a little closer to home for the first 30 so you can be sure of what you're eating. Feel free to friend me too!
  • I think I need either less ghee or more coffee, or maybe I'll try unsalted butter instead but it was kind of "meh"
  • I am so doing this tomorrow morning instead of my normal breakfast! I'll be using Maui coffee, Nanak ghee and organic coconut oil. Should be interesting! And I am a bit shi shi foo foo when it comes to coffee so I'm just might bite the Bulletproof coffee temptation!
  • Just started March 1 and currently reading all I can about paleo nutrition. Notably to eliminate all processed foods, grains and vegetable starches as well as dairy (why drink the milk of another mammal?) So far 4.5 lbs and I love the food.
  • I'm glad I finished day 3 today too, what a workout for you!! Keep going! For me it was about 50 minutes of running, kick practices and sparring techniques tonight. My heels are just burning right now so time for some ice I think. I also work my new orthotics again today for about 2 hours at work so my legs really ache.…
  • Day 2 - Two brisk 20 minutes walks and blowing up my my exercise ball (one small shot of air at a time - what a workout :)
  • Hi tazmac2 I'll join your challenge, I'll start today as well. Tonight was technical training at tae kwon do, but I also power walked to every meeting I went to today. For the next 21 days, in addition to attending my TKD twice a week, I'm going to walk non-stop for at least 20 minutes, inside or out at least once a day,…
  • I'm in the same boat. For me my energy levels are almost non-existent now. I even have to have a nap at work sometimes when I've had a bad night or I'll likely fall over :) and then I'd have a really bad day <yikes> But walking and I mean the "late-for-an-appointment" type of walking works wonders for me. I work at a…
  • What banner ads? I don't have any which is why I love this site.
  • I guess you probably have seen physical therapists or a trainer for opinions on this? You have such a special condition I would err on the side of "slow and easy wins the race". I'm just old :) so I have to be careful about balance and stressing muscles and tendons that have atrophied over the years LOL! But you are an…
  • I have one of those scales, but have never used it for food - apparently you have to look up a food code. Unfortunately I don't have an apple right now or I'd test mine for you. It is a very accurate scale though I've weighed food that had weight on it and it was bang on.
