Had a week off because I have just been too busy after work. Tonight I got back in the saddle and rode 19 miles at an average speed of 13.6mph Lovely evening, great views of North Northumberland and the Borders. I even made it over the border into Scotland. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

MapMyRide does seem quite generous with Cals. if you average above 12 mph it credits you roughly 300 KCal per 30 mins. Anyway I don't eat back more than a fraction of exercise cals so it's just a guide. Are there any other cycling apps that are worth looking at? If you are simply walking and gentle jogging then a warm-up isn't an issue. Since you are probably not working hard enough to go anaerobic it shouldn't be lactic acid.
