  • I finished my first round a couple months ago, it is HARD and it HURTS during, but doesn't it feel great when you survive another day of it?! Don't give up, just work as hard as you can each day. Even at the end I couldn't do every second of every exercise, but that's not the point, the point is to TRY to do the whole…
  • Same job here... Sounds like you have the exercise and motivation down, so adding the food control and quality should definitely get you where you want to be! Start logging EVERYthing, I bet you'll be surprised at how many calories it all adds up to. Read other's diaries, can get some great inspiration there too. And ask…
  • I have a Flex, love it!
  • I really like my Flex, I've also used an Ultra but the wristband style is way more convenient.
  • You're in the right place !
  • Insanity is awesome. Hard as hell, but worth every minute! I also like the meal plans that come with it. Was very skeptical about Shakeology, did not try it until recently. Is not cheap, but is all natural and in my opinion is the best tasting shake of all I've tried. To each his own, but the structured program is working…
  • Follow the calorie guidelines, eat good food, and stick with the program and you will not be disappointed. Best advice I got for starting out - 'just get through the warmup'!
  • It does make all the difference to be able to accurately track everything you're eating! Once I started measuring and tracking, I realized how far off I always was in trying to estimate portions. This is going to make all the difference for you!
  • It sounds by your profile that you are dedicated to logging your food, which is great - that's half the equation. Be honest with yourself though and log ALL of it! Do try and log your exercise too, that's the only way you can accurately measure what is going in versus what you are burning. A good pedometer ( I like my…
  • I just recently completed a round of Insanity and loved it. Well, honestly I would curse my way through the workouts in the beginning - was hard to even finish a warmup! - but I loved the feeling of accomplishment and the results I was seeing over time.
  • I've completed one round and LOVED it! I still use it randomly for cardio during the week, and look forward to another round in January
  • 21 pounds down already - you're doing great! Sounds like you workout at home, my wife and I do also. Would be interested to hear where you are headed!
  • I've been very pleased since I started on here. I found the food/calorie tracking to be the most accurate for me, and syncs up with Fitbit and Runtastic. Also some friendly, helpful people to interact with!
  • You've come to the right place! It's very easy to track your food and exercise, and there are quite a few helpful, supportive people!
  • It's nice to see so many other fitness-minded 40-somethings! Very happy to have anyone in the same age range to share with.
  • A Fitbit is a great idea - I've had one for close to two years and it's a great addition for tracking what you burn!
  • I think you'll find your Fitbit will be a huge help - I've had mine for almost two years and it's a great way to more accurately track what you're working off during the day. Also important is your new knowledge of what you're eating and how your body uses it. And my blender runs every day! Different fruits and vegetables…
  • I'm in a similar situation - have been doing software/database work for...way too long. I've also worked out since I was a teen. This last year I started tracking what I ate, and eating the right things - 95% of the time. Chocolate wins a battle now and again... In addition, I changed up what exercise I do - rather than…
  • Sending a request! I recently finished my first round of Insanity, prepping for a 1/2 marathon in December, and then starting Body Beast. Would be great to interact with some other active people my age!
  • On week 3...I feel good about it after each day after it's over, but I seem to stall when it's time to get started :) Started this after several months of weight training and running, and it's a great - and very challenging - change. Definitely using and tightening up muscles I didn't know were there !
  • Your list cracked me up, just starting week 3 and we've lived everything on it! I now have two water glasses filled and ready so when I can actually breathe I can grab a drink. Have a towel that is soaked by the end. On tile and have another towel to dry the floor on breaks. Don't watch the screen except to remind me where…
  • I went from the Ultra to the Flex..have had a couple days and I like! It was a bit disappointing to not have the detailed feedback on-screen, but you can see what rough percentage you have completed, and I sync throughout the day so can check my stats on dashboard. I also don't have any stairs to climb, so I won't miss…
  • 43 - It's hard work, but doable :) MFP has the best calorie calculator I've found!
  • You are right, none of that matters and it's awesome that you are thinking that way.
  • I'm also not trying to lose weight, but am trying to lower body fat and add some muscle and definitiion.
  • Being diligent about accurately counting calories was actually the hardest part for me, it seemed so tedious! But it has been crucial to keep in the weight range I want. After awhile you have a decent list of foods saved up you can just choose from, and being able to scan barcodes with the app is a huge time saver!
  • SImilar situation for me, married with teens, working out and eating healthy to be in shape and feel good, However, I have a cupcake on my desk I'm about to eat with some coffee. If you won't judge me for that then feel free to add !
  • I've had an Ultra for just over a year now. Love how it links to MFP and gives a me an accurate count of my walking calories. Plus, it gives you a measured goal to shoot for every day. I agree with WaxMama, my customer service experience was great. Mine was on my waist and got caught on my seatbelt and tore it open. I…

  • Funny, i just got done cleaning our heathen's litter box. Feel free to add!
  • It took me awhile to start posting anything either, but seems to be getting easier :) Ive stuck with MFP also because its easy to track food - love the barcode scanner- and how it calculates my calories in versus out.
