I love strawberries and just about any kind of berry. And cherries....I've been craving those like mad lately! We have a strawberry patch in our backyard, and a cherry bush and raspberry bushes, plus three mulberry trees. So it's all fresh during the summer. But cantaloupe, musk melon, watermelon....melons just don't…

Sounds a lot like what I deal with.

It depends on several things, how you feel, and if you're losing weight. You should weigh yourself at least once a week to see if what you're doing is working. I almost always advise people to go for a slower approach to weight loss, instead of the usual 2 lbs a week most newcomers aim for on MFP. The reason is to avoid…

I'm going to add my voice to the chorus. I don't believe in "kick-starter" diets. They're a bad idea. You're better off slowly lowering your calories and adding exercise. Make small changes that will last, not big changes that won't.

If he feels good at that weight, why not? To the OP, you might try basing your calorie intake on your TDEE and doing away with eating back exercise calories. This means you'd adjust your calories up, but you wouldn't add in your exercise calories. I had trouble losing when I did that, because I'd have too much to eat on my…

Granola has always been a heavy snack. Gluten free doesn't mean low calorie or healthy. It just means the poor folk who can't digest gluten have to eat that instead.

Homemade chocolate chip cookies right out of the oven. I don't normally restrict foods, but I have to in the case of chocolate chip cookies. I simply can't control myself around them. I eat them until I'm sick.

I have a uterus, so I'm going to state my opinion. The women I see at the gym do nothing but cardio. I'm the only female utilizing the weight section, and I always get weird looks for being there. If you're a woman, you're going to get better results with strength-training than the same old tired cardio day after day. I've…

I may be shallow in this regard, but no. I couldn't date someone less intelligent than me. I think I can handle all kinds of physical flaws (well, not the mustacio), but a lack of intelligence really bothers me. It's not just intelligence, though. He doesn't just need to know things. He also has to have an understanding of…

I understand this all too well. I've spent the last four years counting calories, doggedly keeping track (on notebooks before MFP). I exercise 6 days a week, 60 to 90 minutes a day. I do strength, cardio, interval training, jogging, bike riding, walks, weight-lifting. I've adjusted my calories up, then down. I've watched…

Some people are lactose intolerant or can't digest dairy, yes, but that doesn't mean giving up milk is going to be beneficial for everyone. The anti-dairy fad needs to fade into oblivion. It's as annoying and useless as the anti-fat phase we all went through and got fatter because of. For some people, it works, like a…

Repeat after me: government stagnation is good. A government who stops arguing to "get stuff done" and pass laws without considering the consequences is a government on its way to becoming tyrannical. I'm not waiting around for the government to get its act together. Neither should you. We'd all be better off if our…

Amazing!

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions (I didn't read the original thread), but I suspect the OP has an eating disorder.

Absolutely. Because the only thing keep everyone from losing weight the magic way is that they haven't discovered it yet. It's *secret.* Only those who have access to the interweb will find it. And there are only, like, 14 people who have the interweb.

I stopped logging my exercise a long time ago, since I don't eat back exercise calories. I hope there is someone out there who complains about lazy MFPer's who don't ever exercise.
-
It depends on what kind of calories you burned. If you did an intense strength-training routine, I'd encourage you to eat the calories back. For a cardio work-out, though, it's up to you.

I wonder if the obesity epidemic exists because people don't know that they can EAT and still lose weight? When you set the bar too high (such as 1200 a day), it makes the hurdle impossible for most people. It's funny that once our culture started obsessing about dieting and being thin, we all got fatter. Wonder why?

Eating twice a day, not drinking enough water or eating enough fiber....these probably aren't the reasons you're not losing weight. However, increasing water intake and eating more fiber are definitely helpful. But check this out: http://www.answerfitness.com/208/weight-loss-plateau-tactics-overcoming-weight-loss-plateau/…

LOL! I think I love cilantro as much as some people hate it! I would use it in every dish if I could. Fresh salsa with cilantro....LOVE! Now mint on the other hand...bleh....

I think every woman here wants to be healthy and thinner. And I'd like to lose weight for curves as well! :) However, some of us aren't obsessed with the idea of having flat bellies and looking like a woman on the cover of Shape magazine. All power to those who are, but I'd be happy to be a normal, healthy size.

He can be shorter than me, but I haven't found a man who is. (I'm not very tall.) He can be skinnier, too. That doesn't bother me. But my big no no's physically are: 1. Mustache 2. Comb over or bald only on the crown of the head. (A fully shaved look is more attractive.) 3. Hygiene (Bathe on occasion, brush your teeth once…

Are you eating back your exercise calories? If not, you're creating a giant calorie deficit which is likely affecting WHAT you're losing. You want to lose mostly fat, not lean muscle. Also consider that you may be psyching yourself out and simply not seeing the changes.

I think you're drinking too much water. Drinking what your body needs keeps you from confusing dehydration with hunger and it helps metabolize food. Drinking too much can stretch your stomach or cause your electrolytes to bottom out, both of which will leave you hungry. It can also make you metabolize your food too fast. I…

You could have low potassium. Trying getting a lot of potassium, but aim for truly high potassium foods. For instance, potatoes and sweet potatoes are loaded with potassium, as well as apricots and Low Sodium V-8 (which is the best low calorie, somewhat healthy option to go for). Coffee is a diuretic and low calorie…

For some people, going dairy free is beneficial. But for other people, it's not, and you may be doing yourself harm by avoiding dairy just because it's fashionable to do so. It's worth trying, but it may not be the answer. Take all the Good Food/ Bad Food crazes with a grain of salt.

When I see people on MFP saying they don't want to be fat anymore, does that insult someone like me, who's fat? I mean, I should be offended by MFP in general, because people use it to recover from a state that I'm currently in, which tells me that fat is bad. I think I need to sulk in the corner over this or maybe start…

I like to drink plain old tap water, none of that fancy stuff. But I don't think there is any kind of miracle associated with drinking water, unless you're really dehydrated. It doesn't make me lose weight faster. It doesn't help me with water retention or make me feel fuller. I don't even think I can move objects just by…

Another vote here for The Dark Elf Saga and The Dark Tower Series. But, seriously, Russel Crowe as Roland? Is that true? I really like Russel Crowe, but Roland is supposed to be tall and thin. I was thinking along the lines of Christian Bale or Ryan Gosling. Oh, and Speaker for the Dead, my favorite of the Ender's Game…
