  • Agreed. I used to be able to get a dozen for about $2 around here. Now that's double and it's about $4.
  • Not to mention that if you still lost the weight and had no headaches WHILE having protein powder with artificial sweeteners in it then you can't correlate the two at all.
  • I think you're the one who's not getting it. YOU PHYSICALLY CANNOT LOSE WEIGHT BY ONLY REMOVING ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS. IT IS NOT THE WAY SCIENCE WORKS.
  • No it's really not. If anything my first statement was only incomplete as I did not state his reasoning (because as I said later...I really don't know whether it's a tin foil hat type of thing or just because we get enough from other sources).
  • My recommendation would go along with the first person to comment -- bag/box of frozen chicken breasts. canned or frozen veggies eggs rice also -- if you need spices at all to keep things from getting too boring and bland and you only need a little for a short period of time then buy them in bulk if your local grocery…
  • Hate to say this but depending on location this is not feasible on $20. Where I'm it would look something like -- lentils - $3 rice - $5 eggs - $4 potatoes - $3 a whole large chicken - $12 a large bag of frozen mixed vegetables - $3 bread - $1 butter - $4 That's $35 -- whole chickens here are not cheap by any means. The…
  • I know the target near my house carries unbleached. I almost bought it one day but I wasn't sure how it differed from bleached. Interesting that cakes sink with unbleached. I wonder why that is?
  • But you're saying he never advised fluoride treatments until that point right? So again it fits with what I said...we get enough of it from water and toothpaste (normally) to suffice and not need additional costly dental treatments (except in circumstances like yours where your water was bad).
  • You can laugh all you want but i've been going to him for 3 years after switching from a few other dentists I wasn't pleased with and my teeth have never been healthier. As for his reasoning behind the no fluoride treatments...i don't know or can't remember if he said why. It may just be that there is already fluoride in…
  • Yes. He has no problem advising about what is necessary and what isn't. It would make sense that most dentists would recommend fluoride every time. Do you know how much they charge you and/or your insurance company for fluoride treatment? Do that twice a year for every patient and that treatment alone makes a lot of money.
  • Serious question though regarding white flour -- it's bleached right? Does anyone know the process of bleaching the flour and how that effects it from a health standpoint?
  • Are you sure she was doing whole30? I looked it up and it doesn't talk about reducing your calories at all. In fact it states not to even count calories for the duration of the 30 days. You are simply supposed to eat meat, eggs, fruit, vegetables, and healthy oils. I don't know about you but those things are certainly not…
  • Why everything gotta be white... #allfoodmatters
  • This is very true. The city I just moved out of had the public swimming pool water. Seriously...it was terrible. That's kind of odd....my dentist flat out told me that he believes fluoride only matters in children....at least regularly.
  • This. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  • I saw them once too! So good!
  • Speaking of drums and bagpipes I'd throw a lot of dropkick murphys songs in the mix as well. They're pretty high energy and great for exercising.
  • For me it's mainly a mix of hard alternative rock and hip hop -- but the song that has gotten me the most pumped up over the last few years has been Game - Red Nation (feat. Lil' Wayne). It's the perfect song for exercise.
  • This ^^^^ Water would definitely make your popcorn soggy. And if you have oil in the pan and you put water in you're probably going to hurt yourself. Maybe experiment with some different types of dry seasonings rather than sugar?
  • Technically grocery store "Whole Milk" is 3.25% milk fat i believe as opposed to 2%/1%/skim. I always assumed that the cream top was basically where whipping cream came from.
  • Bacon can come uncured and not smoked. Not all bacon is brined. Salt cures are common as well. But even so -- is brining, smoking, or curing any different than marinating? I'm not saying you aren't processing in the sense that doing these things IS a process technically...but then again so is cooking.
  • I was actually thinking the opposite of this. I think it's weird when you see someone who had a round plump "fat" face who has lost a lot of weight everywhere except their face. A good example I noticed recently as far as celebrities go is Anthony Anderson -- If you watch his new food network show you'll see what I mean.
  • What is it about bacon that you're considering "processed"? Bacon is a cut of meat which is then cured, generally using salt. I'm not sure that I would count curing something as processing anymore than I would count marinating something as processing.
  • How quickly did you notice those changes?
  • That's an awesome pet.
  • I think the point though was that you are thinking about calories just based on the foods you choose to eat. Maybe not specifically "X vegetable has 30 cals per serving so i'll eat that instead" but more just along the lines of "X = healthy because it's lower calorie and nutritious" even if that is completely subconscious.
  • Same. The weird thing was when I lost all that weight in high school (I believe it was somewhere around 40-50 lbs I never even noticed my clothes fitting different. I dropped several pants sizes and honestly had no clue.
  • From the research I've done organic is worth it for some foods and not for others. I had a vegetable garden for a couple of years and did everything organic which was great...but as far as farms and things goes I've read that even though a farm may not use pesticides and such a lot of those things can actually blow in from…
  • This is something I experienced first hand completely by accident in high school. I was always fat throughout middle school and high school. Senior year I dropped a ton of weight but it wasn't intentional. I had no idea I had even lost weight. It was strange. When I looked in the mirror I looked exactly the same in my…
  • Generally when a recipe calls for something "light" or "low fat" I just use the normal versions. I mean it depends on the recipe and how unhealthy it would be by using the normal but its rarely a problem. The only time I ever really buy anything that isn't the standard version of something is soy sauce because I buy the…
