Holy cow! I never even noticed that functionality. Thanks for the tip! That's awesome!

Ha! This very thing has been on my radar for a while too.....for the EXACT same reasons. I'd probably already have tried a class if the main training place in my area didn't just close temporarily for renovations or something.

I don't know about the Flex. I know of it, but nothing more. It came out recently and I already had my Fitbit One. I don't think it has the display. If you want to monitor throughout the day, that may be a problem. On the plus side, it's less likely to accidentally make it into the washing machine if it's on your wrist and…

It seems all of us Fitbit users are on the same page. LOVE my Fitbit One. I got it last November. I love the way it's easy to wear, syncs with MFP so that activity is logged automatically. It keeps me cognizent of my calories burned (1/2 of the equation needed to lose weight). If I lost my Fitbit One today, I think I'd be…

Somebody here on MFP posted a link to this article a few weeks ago. I thought it was a good comparison. http://www.getgrok.com/2013/01/a-comparative-review-28-days-with-the-fitbit-one-jawbone-up-nike-fuelband-and-bodymedia-link/ I read many, many reviews on all the different items out there and decided to go with the…

So you are trying to say it's better to eat processed food that has lost almost all of its nutrients then had them added back in (usually chemically) rather than just eating the foods with the right nutrients and in the right form in the first place? Oh...and no just because it was added back does not mean it is in a form…

I recently tried something called PB2. Pretty cheap on Amazon. Basically it's peanutbutter with oil taken out (so it's powder). You can find ways to use it with something else to get that peanut butter taste. No crappy preservatives or chemicals added. So it's not as healthy as peanut butter (those oils are there for a…

While everyone is trying to be technical...let me give the explanation that I "think" you are wanting to know. While a calorie is strictly a measurement unit of energy, yes they are all the same, but..... Here is the big but. That's like saying a gallon of some really bad, dirty, low-grade gasoline is just as good as as a…

Foodbabe is a great blog to research best foods/brands to use. http://foodbabe.com/2012/12/13/the-healthiest-protein-powders-on-the-market/ http://foodbabe.com/2013/02/22/investigating-protein-powders-sun-warrior-giveaway-900-value/ That being said...I've been using this one.…

I go to one called "Crunch" (chain, but not that big yet). They are $9.99 / month. For that price, we have access to all classes, cardio equipment, weight machines, and free weights. There is also tanning booths, but those cost extra. Look around...this is kind of a new gym model that's been getting popular the last few…

When you set your goals, you told MFP what your activity level was. It uses that to compute the calories you should burn in an average day. Fitbit takes the calories it sees you burn and if you are running over the computed calories, it will add more that you are allowed to eat. You don't "have" to eat those. It means you…

I don't know that book specifically, but I've read "Eat To Live" by Dr. Joel Fuhrman. I love the guy's message. That book is probably what first got me seriously concerned about my fitness and weight issues.

Welcome to your journey! I was not much different than you when I started last year. I was 5'10" and 346. Right now, I'm pounding on the 100 lb mark (99 lbs at the moment). It's TOTALLY DOABLE!! If you can swing it, get a Fitbit. It's great to help motivate you to move more and help monitor your calories out. Really use…

^^^^^^This According to Jillian Michaels' book that I just read (Winning By Losing), anything below 1200 calories per day for a woman (1500 for a man) will slow your metabolism which means you body will naturally start burning less calories. You MUST have a high enough caloric intake to not stunt your metabolism. Breakfast…
