Besides creating a calorie deficit, there is a lot of science behind the fact that intermittent fasting makes the body more efficient at buring fat. So you get the benefit of both.

What makes me sad is judgmental comments like this. We simply have no idea what others struggle with, what works for one, may not work for another. These kinds of comments are not helpful.

In my vast dieting experience LOL, if I increase my calories on 1 or 2 days where my calorie count is 200-400 above my usual 1500 calories, I actually have a bigger loss over a 2 week period.
