And please, for your heart's sake, keep that protein LEAN.

Hello fellow over-50. Best results are with exercise and logging what you eat. Seems that when we try anything else, we ultimately GAIN weight when we stop. Save yourself some $$. Good luck.

Your body is going into starvation mode. Eat!

Frozen fruit and veggies are almost as good for you as fresh and cheaper than out of season produce. Beans, lentils and tofu are WAY cheaper than beef. Try substituting them occasionally.

Mix a tin of tuna with one egg white, chopped celery, green onion and add enough breadcrumbs to hold together. Make a couple patties. Fry in non-stick pan sprayed with Pam. Serve with salad or over 1/2 a burger bun with a dill pickle. Make several and freeze. Nuke for lunch. Hope you like them.

Wouldn't someone who eats healthy naturally drop weight and improve their health?

Wow, that's a lot of meat, especially beef. No beans?

All that and you are such a young person! You look fantastic. Congrats on having the courage under all those obstacles to turn your health around and lost weight too. Continued success to you. I am inspired!

Congratulations on your new baby! Most of the posts on here are from serious weigh lifters and runners. I am a grandma who just walks briskly using 7 lb weights, but I am very interested in maintaining my excellent health. I have used a good protein powder in the past. I would recommend you google to read consumer comments…

Keep in mind that everyone processes carbs differently. Some people are negatively sensitive to grain carbs. Then there's the whole "wheat belly" topic. Listen to your body and figure out the combination that works best for YOU.

A nurse specializing in helping people lose weight told me that only water goes directly to the kidneys. Fluid that contains ANYTHING goes to the liver for filtering. Water is best.

Stay away from packaged and canned foods and try not to eat out. I know, I know. It's difficult. But you cannot go wrong cooking for yourself. YOU control the sugar and salt. Lean meats, fish, lots of fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans if you really want to lose weight. Keep it really simple. Even low calorie…

Why not make your own dressing of balsamic vinegar, lemon juice, Mrs. Dash, a pinch of Splenda, crushed garlic, onion powder. Mix in a small jar, keep in the fridge. Tastes great, fat free, and is cheap and better for you.

I certainly agree. I saw this type of thing too and wondered why people would dis those who would be supporting them. I guess that people who are unhappy with themselves may take it out on others. Let's ignore negativity, shall we?

Amazing!!!! I am so inspired.

Welcome! I am a newbie too. Have you talked to your dad to let him know what kinds of food you need to eat for your weight loss and fitness goals? Maybe he just needs some suggestions? What if you offer to cook dinner one night a week and try new (lean) recipes? Or simply substitute healthier ingredients in favorite…

Years ago when I was in my 20's, I thought that starving myself was the way to lose weight. I lived on raw veggies, oatmeal and diet drinks for 4 months. I sure did lose weight...and muscle tone and chunks of my hair!!! Everyone told me I looked awful. When I began to eat sensibly again, I gained it all back, PLUS about 30…

I forget the resson, but yes it's true and an added bonus to working out! The only exercise I know of that INCREASES appetite is swimming in cold water.

I always heard that to lose weight, we should exercise 6 times a week. 3 or 4 times a week is to MAINTAIN weight.
-
What a difference! You look great and you are on your way. Go girl! (And think of the health benefits too...)

To avoid veggie boredom, I eat cooked veggies one day, raw the next. Try vegetable soup with your lunch, then roasted with dinner one day, the next day have raw veggies/dip with lunch and a big salad with dinner. Who said you must live on salads to lose weight?
