  • While as everyone knows, God is an Englishman, well leave that to one side for the moment. Class is, and always has been, a stronger determinant than nationality. By and large, fat British and fat Americans are low class. I'm slim, upper middle-class and drink a lot. My American friends are mostly the same.
  • 1 lb a week loss is fine, and this is probably the most you should be aiming for anyway. More than that and you are probably screwing up your body.
  • Good for you. I don't think Chinese food is especially fattening (I could be wrong) but ethnic desserts have always seemed a bit weird to me. GFs from those parts tell me that it's usually fruit. And I find it genuinely baffling why anyone would ever want to drink sugary, fizzy drinks, apart from G&T of course ;)
