Could use some friends to motivate and motivated by.

Indian cuisine is loaded with carbs, starches and fried foods, If you eliminate those, what else is left. I can't imagine weight-loss base on an Indian diet. One can eat just the lentils and vegetables(non starchy kind) cooked in light oil, just skip the rice and bread. Indian food is delicious, I just don't think modern…

No, I think hand sanitizer just move the germs to the back of your hands.. It is weird that I find this thread amusing, yet I can't come up with anything weird myself.

Btw, Costco now carries fitbit....and of course if you do not like it, you can easy take it back (but I doubt that you will). Like Dough above mentioned, if you can find some friends that also have a fitbit, it will motivate you even more...its fun.

I have a fitbit one and I love it. Left mine at home by mistake on the ironing table, feeling very awkward with out it....Its a great motivator !!

Is indian food in Trinidad any different from traditional indian food ?

I had few friends last year, but they are no longer active on MFP, so please feel free to add me !!!

Thats good to hear. One more trick for heartburn; Cup of warm water and lemon first thing in the morning before you eat/drink anything else....and its cheaper than probiotics :)

In my opinion modern indian foods tend to be calorically and carb dense. You can easy consume 1,000 calories and 150-200 grams of carbs in a meal. Most Indians do that 2-3 times a day and that’s not including snacks, which tend to be just as bad as a full meal, if not worse. That’s why many indians suffer from high…

That looks really good. Mind sharing the recipe?

Breakfast frittatas on the go...

Try some digestive enzymes as well, they help. But make small changes at a time, wait a week and then see how you feel. Costco is probably the cheapest place to by probiotics.
-
How long have you had this? Could it be just a stomach bug ? If it is, it will pass... Have you looked at adding some probiotics to your diet. Maybe your body is just not used to all that fiber, so ramp-up fruits and vegetables slowly.

Pre-diabetic here, runs in the family. I am not over weight (BMI-21), so eating less was not going to work for me. At one time my fasting BS level was in 120s. Started eat a lot less sugar. Cut down on carbs (not an easy task). Started taking a cocktail of supplements (Magnesium, ALA, Cinnamon, Fenugreek, Vitamin D, and…

:) You might even be able to find it in a traditional grocery store in the international section. Tandoorie masala is the second most common indian spice blend (second to garam masala). Garam masala makes very good fish curry (but for a different type of fish).

Tandoorie salmon I make few times a month. Buy some tandoorie masala from a local Indian grocery store. Make marinated in a blender with these ingredients - Half cup olive oil - 1 TBSP Tandoorie masala - 3 peepled garlic cloves - 2 TBSP fresh ginger - 1 tsp salt (might not need it if you are ok with less salt) - Few fresh…

I drink Bedtime tea almost every night. I sleep thru the night without getting groggy in the morning. http://www.tealand.com/Bedtime-Tea-Yogi-Tea-Promotes-Restful-Sleep-P112.aspx I also sometimes mix it with Easy Now tea, helps with my general anxiety and calms my nerves.

They are not quality foods, but they are still better option than eating-out at even the healthiest restaurants. There are days, when you just do not have the time to cook anything, let alone make a veggie burger from scratch. So don’t make them your staple, but few times a week it’s just fine. I would take Morningstar…

If you get Veria channel on TV. They have a program called "Naturally Delicious".....some great tips on how to make vegetarian dishes. I think they are starting to add some of the recipes online as well now. http://www.veria.com/tv/show/naturally-delicious

This is a good book on the benefits of green tea. I switched from coffee in the morning to 16 ounce mug of green tea few years ago, but I mix my green tea with other tea bags, depending on my mood or what I need for that day. I still drink coffee every once in a while, but now I am addicted to tea. Too much coffee gives me…

How about purple yam. You can find it at most asian supermarkets. Tastes really good too...
-
Thanks. This should keep me busy for for a while...slow day at work today !! :)

When it comes to tofu, most people think tasteless white block floating the plastic tray, but its lot more than that. If you visit your local Asian supermarket, you will be surprised to see how many different types of tofu there are. Try to find products made by Veri-Soy. In San Diego we have SIPZ café and the Loving Hut…

I think anytime you can reduce your consumption of unhealthy meats with “healthier” vegetarian options you are doing well for your body and the environment. I was a vegetarian most of life, had to find other sources of protein due to food allergies. To me vegetarian foods taste just as good as foods with meat in them. Tofu…

Curious. I thought I was eating healthier by mostly eating chicken and fish. Any links you can post here. How about organic chicken, just as bad ??

Unfortunately traditional medicine doctors are clueless when it comes to IBS and many other digestive system problems. I have several doctors in my family, they all tell me there is no cure as pharmaceutical companies would rather sell you prilosecs and anti-anxiety meds for life. Although one of the doctors told me that…

I have had stomach/digestion issues past 10 years of my life. Five years ago on my 40th birthday I had my first IBS attack. Terrible stomach pain followed by an anxiety attack (at that time I thought it was a heart attack). It took me two years of struggling to find what was upsetting my stomach, but could never figure it…

I can't imagine it being bad, unless you have trouble falling a sleep for several hours. I usually can't make it out to the gym till about 9:00pm....workout for an hour and sleep by 11:00pm. Weekends I do workout in the morning, it feels good because you feel a sense of accomplishment thought the day, and no self nagging :)

I love veggie wraps with tofurky deli slices...along with some ceamy tomatoe soup from Trader Joes :)
