  • It's great you figured it out now :) I would talk to a doctor about it, honestly, to decide on a healthy goal weight, and add a few hundred calories a week, to get used to it, and to see how much exercise, if any, is safe for you until then. When you have confirmation it's medically safe for you to exercise and you have…
  • Dear 16 year old me, You have something special. Don't chicken out. Don't wait to take up challenges and opportunities that come to you; you can't control whether or when they show up again. And waiting can get to be a habit, it can get to be your life. Grow a pair. Take your life seriously. This is not a rehearsal. Don't…
  • Cute story! (Also, 1995 was 18 years ago?? What the hell.) I miss using the phone more often in general, it's way easier to agree on plans in a 60 second conversation vs trading dozens of texts & having to wait in between. Re dating, prefer texting for sure, much easier to be selective about how/when you talk to someone.…
  • sounds like this man has no sensitivity, at all, to other people's emotions. i would not be hopeful about counselling. you deserve to be fed (actually, emotionally) and happy.
  • - 4 years no sex (no that's not normal) - zero communication - zero evidence of interest in communication - zero niceness or human decency - zero help at home - the fact you've been wanting to leave for years I am not hesitating to suggest leaving. Don't waste even more time in this. You deserve better than to be a maid to…
  • Jealous of all of you! I did Zuzka's workouts when she was doing Bodyrock. I loved their athleticism, felt great, had results pretty fast (used to do more of the 20-30 minute ones, no extra cardio). My feet couldn't take it though. She talks a lot about nutrition on her youtube channel, it's basically what you'd expect -…
  • this (2nd quoted part) is just exactly right. it astonishes me that it's controversial.
  • I'm on the hunt for slightly loose, tapered leg (elasticized @ ankle), cotton drawstring sweat pants, with one tiny zip pocket, that do not cost $150.00. They're easy enough to find in rayon/modal/crap blends, but I want COTTON. (Tips appreciated) My preference is for bottoms on the loose side, cause leggings/yoga pants…
  • 1 legged romanian deadlifts, too
  • is that the same shoulder you previously injured? either way, see your gp asap. a simple tendon or ligament problem would mostly happen in a circumscribed area. this could be nothing, but there are more serious problems that can present as leg pain.
  • I've never been to your state, but this is exactly the sort of thing I'd imagine an aspiring Oklahoman tattooist saying :)
  • Entirely hypothetical: imagine if you will a woman. She's 5'6, 180lbs. Say in actuality, her bf% is ~35% or so. She's in her second week of lifting 3lb dumbbells on a program from a women's magazine. She's convinced her wee pump means she is developing huge muscles, and is kind of worried about moving up to 5lbs. She wears…
  • It would be handy if it could all be sewn up together like that, but it is just boring old capitalism* - every company (and every one in it) trying to get their own - and yours - with as little cost as possible, opportunistically using whatever medium's available, whether it's TV adspace or the tastebuds etc we've acquired…

  • Hmm... maybe, sometimes. I think some people are just straight-up jerks and have no real self-esteem problems.
  • @MyChocolateDiet - was going to say, it's very unlikely you resemble a perfume bottle ;) Naw, there's a definite commonality between most of those women, am sure you're lovely. Have been told: Natalie Wood, Isabella Rossellini, Marisa Tomei. I guess if you put them in a blender it'd be near enough. No one's said this to…
  • @ mandy No worries! It's not hard :) Just lay that bit over the narrow edge of an ironing board so you know everything's lying where it should, - like so the material underneath (inner pocket) is all in place - & pin it first if you like :)
  • I used to sew my front pockets shut to get rid of that gape.
  • bump, and just a thought - you sound like you can handle anything :) , but I personally found it hard to do intense cardio the day before or after legs. Never felt like things had enough time to recover. It was easier for me to do intervally cardio (but not HIIT) the same day as legs (after weights), which gave them more…
  • Just the other day I saw a class happening (not Zumba) near the weights area at my gym. The instructor was overweight. People in the class looked really into it. She had a really great, motivating energy. I think doing it now would be awesome. Might make the class feel more accessible to people who might shy away…
  • Lol! Aw, I appreciate your sympathy. It was kind of shocking to hear. She's otherwise not too bad as a person, to be fair, and really great for some things (but kind of unhelpful about others). I think maybe she's never personally tried doing the whole work out/count cals thing, and can't imagine it working, like everyone…
  • Best - "I respect the work you put in" - jock brother who made fun of me for years for being nonathletic - "You look amazing/great" - male friends Worst - "I think you're too skinny", or, "you're teeny tiny" with a worried look - female friends - "Do you make yourself throw up?" - my doctor. Answer is NO. I eat 1800-2400…
  • My last contribution to this thread, because I'm disturbed by how unsettling I find this all, and how judgy I am feeling. But I feel like I have to say it. "this stuff actually really helps me stay away from junk food treats. it's precious to me. i want to to share, but i do find my son to be a bit greedy - or something.…
  • He's a hungry, growing boy, not yet able to make informed choices. Of course he's going to enjoy junk, it's made to appeal to him. That said, I'm sure he'd be interested in whatever food's available at home.
  • The idea of having "healthy" food for mom and *actually buying* crap for the kids is really gross to me.
  • If you're asking for opinions, I think you're kind of being a jerk. So you get the healthy/nice stuff, which you know for a fact he likes, make just enough for yourself, and expect him to eat something you as an adult know is not as healthy? He's 14, his appetite is bound to be huge because of hormones. Make more next time.
  • in my case i went from self-hate to self-acceptance (by and large), and the weight loss was part of the process. i got to my goal, and found that some things i still didn't like would only come close to my ideal if i changed my lifestyle in ways i wasn't prepared to change. other things would have required surgery…
