You know, I'm confused about this getting rid of old fat to make room for different, better fat business. When people 'lean out', their fat cells just empty out, they don't go anywhere (do they? there's always some new study). I think it's better to lose as much fat as your diet/lifestyle can realistically tolerate,…

Going too long without buying groceries (bad planning) = emergency burger

Creating muscle mass by following a weight-lifting program, and eating a diet that supports that, will fill up the space so skin stretches over it more tightly. I know people say it all the time, but lift weights! Also though, it takes a lot of work for women to get anywhere with muscle. So it will take time. But it's…

Absolutely no one gives a crap, honestly. Just go. Two weeks from now it'll feel like home again. Oh you went! Good!

^^ this suggests you are eyeballing and maybe not counting everything. You don't have to be completely obsessed to count (though it helps). There's a point at which it becomes habit, especially if you eat many of the same meals. I don't have the app myself, but it would make it even easier than using the site. If what you…

If this is true, it is very very easy to eat more than you'd think. Healthy foods have calories, too, and our brains trick us all the time. I've been slipping over the past month and it shows. Annoying as it is, the thing to do is weigh the food, & count it up. So: back on track, no guilt, it's not personal, just do the…

nope and i really couldn't give a rat's what anyone thought about it the day before is awesome for energy, though

To the writers: how did you get your first jobs? Thanks, btw, for sharing here :)

Some guy figured out a formula using a cube function: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/health/healthnews/9816596/Interactive-calculator-do-you-win-or-lose-with-the-new-BMI.html My result differed by 0.1 from the standard bmi chart (but i'm only a little taller than the average woman).

and while the relationship between chronic illnesses like CV diseases & Type 2 diabetes and obesity is correlational, all signs point to yes, it's safer to assume these are related in an important way than not. And it's ridiculous to hope for a solidly causational relationship with anything related to lifestyle.

No reasonable person would think to evaluate PREGNANT WOMEN according to bmi, that's perverse. How likely is it that MOST people at the high end of the bmi scale have normal bf% and low waist to height ratios, or that they're athletes? Yes bmi excludes the high-risk 'skinny fat', that's true.

There are ZERO decent fitness magazines that I'm aware of. Even 'Women's Health' is mostly fashion tips and relationship crap, and their workouts are equivalent to warmups for real programs. They're just a regular women's magazine, except the models are in Adidas. Stumptuous.com is the best woman-oriented blog I can think…

Everything you've said, except for the splotchy vision, used to happen to me in front of crowds (but I did have a ridiculous lip twitch). Lots & lots of practice made it go away :) I went on a holiday once, aged 16. Spent all of my first day on the beach. Gave myself such bad heat stroke I went delusional. Was annoyed my…

2 options: 1) reduce bf% to the point of amenorrhea (not advised) 2) make the muscles bigger so fat/skin drape over them differently & things look more solid & leaner. Plus reduce bf to some % where TOM can still happen. It's hard to get much mass in the adductors at all, much easier to gain mass in quads & hams. Quads…

More powerful fan? Are you using any kind of oil or broth to avoid burning it? (Are you burning it?)

Yeah that's true, sorry. Zuzana does intervals, I think ChaLean is more like metabolic workouts. There shouldn't be a problem doing both if you're healthy and conditioned, even on the same day. But agree with Pu_239, heavy lifting + regular cardio
-
If you're doing HIIT anywhere close to how it's done in the studies, time it to work with lower body lifting you're doing (bc it is probably relying on your quads & hams). You could do *intervals* (probably not HIIT) the same day as squats and deadlifts. Otherwise, leave 48 hrs in between.

That was based on new research showing greater risk to people at 26 and 27, not people just changing their minds on a whim. I would not look to clothes sizes as evidence of anything. Manufacturers *have* changed those, to make consumers feel less bad about buying clothes ('vanity sizing').

Just curious, does she like you calling her 'my bride'? Yup to shrinkage, having to replace an entire wardrobe, also weird body image for a while.

Thanks for the link out - just tried it, with red wine instead of mustard, really good!

holothuriodea, in fairness to serpwidgets, I doubt he could have guessed you'd had a recent failed handstand experience. And it sucks to see him flashing his handstand all over the place in his picture (actually, I guess that's a headstand). Anyway, hope you can do one of those soon. I tried last year and it was miserable.…

Yeah, and I don't get why! ALL THEY DO is make and serve coffee! Why not take pride in it? I'm not a snob - I like perc, and at home I use my grocery store's own brand. (I do drink a special Greek/Turkish coffee half the time, though). All it takes is paying attention to proportions, and serving fresh stuff.
