Whoa, my SIL has lived in Post Falls for over 40 years and my MIL was in Coeur d'Alene! I haven't been there since 2004 tho.

^ Why do men think that women care about their opinions?

Oh please, both of those are so Photoshopped she doesn't even look like a real woman.

Hi ladies, I am getting back in the saddle after a week away. Goals for November and December: * log all food every day * under calorie goal 5 out of 7 days each week * hoping for Onederland by January 1 * reasonable exercise (physical limitations keep me from weight lifting, but I can walk more) I would love to have…

Because back in the ancient history of the 1970s, prehistoric man ate like the Paleo diet.

Why do so many people on this board feel the need to be mean, nasty, and rude? If you don't have anything nice to say, stfu.

This is such a hot point with me. My grandmother had polio because there were no vaccines. God rest her soul.

I don't know if it was the best team that won, but definitely the boat with the fastest upwind speed did.

I don't know if the US has solely Ben to thank -- they kept making updates to the boat design until they had a winner. Someone needs to check the Oracle boat for a motor in one of those hulls. ;-) I feel bad for the Kiwis. Their nation wanted it, every last person. I am THRILLED that Oracle USA won b/c I live in SF and…

Looks like high winds on Wednesday...I'm predicting the racing will be postponed. This is a nail-biter.

I am so freaking obsessed with the AC! Can't wait until tomorrow!!

I think we should form a group...

I own my own business (Internet sales) and I have never been happier.

I have the same issue with my BF -- he is 52 years old and still at his high school weight, with a totally ripped body. Sigh. He's supportive and never nags me, but he doesn't "get it." Welcome!
-
I completely agree. Everyone is on a different "plan" and it's up to them to make it work, or try whatever they want until they find something that works. It would tick me off if someone eating Paleo commented on my pasta consumption...or whatever. Support doesn't equal agreement, but get off the soapbox already.

Hi ladies, I am 50+ and have over 35 lbs to lose to get out of the "obese" category. I struggle with perfectionistic body images -- in the past I've lost a lot of weight, then thought, "meh, I still am over my target weight" and thrown in the towel. This time I am focusing on a lifestyle change that I can sustain. No crazy…

Same here. My current goal is to get to ~175 which is still overweight, but with my age (50+) and body shape I look OK at that weight. I struggle with perfectionistic body image so it helps me to have a modest goal.

Some days my migraines are so bad I can't get out of bed, let alone exercise. Listen to your body, treat yourself gently until the pain is past.

This. And add some friends on MFP for support and motivation.

How are you tracking your food intake? Are you using measuring cups and a food scale?
-
Depends on your relationship with your cousin, but I'd say something like: "I'd enjoy your company more if you'd quit bullying me."
-
I've always disliked it. Feels greasy to me. Too much concentrated fat.
-
Interesting. I am almost in the same place: 212 lbs 5' 5" I want to lose 1 lb per week, and my MFP calorie intake goal per day is 1490. Does your extra inch of height really make all that much of a difference? I hope an expert will chime in.

Kudos for facing your fears and asking for help! In the past I've failed at weight loss when I tried to make too many changes at once. So when I started this time, I decided to take it slow. For the first month, I set MFP at "maintain my current weight" and logged what I ate, keeping to within that limit. The second month,…

I keep one size larger, but only a few pieces in that size. I hate having unused items in my home so anything I don't use goes out.

I can't do weight lifting due to musculoskeletal issues in my neck, so I certainly hope it's not necessary. Do as much cardio as you can, consider resistance training....there are alternative ways to build muscle.
-
Thanks for an upper of a post! I feel inspired.
-
Hugs to you! I'd suggest keeping the focus on YOU. You don't need to worry about what your mom does -- you are on this journey for you. Second, when you are starting from ground zero, I think it's important to start small. Make one change a month. For me, I spent the first month just logging what I ate, and eating…

I am "borderline" hypo -- depends on which doctor is reading my test results. 50% of my immediate family (Father and 2 sisters) has Hashimoto's Thyroiditis so the odds are that is the way I am heading. I definitely have trouble losing the weight now that my thyroid function is low.

Is anyone watching Joss Whedon's new superhero TV show in the US? Thoughts? I am a pro-technology nerd -- I prefer e-books to printed books. I can carry hundreds of them on a trip and still have room for clothes, and I can pump up the font (my glasses don't correct my vision very well).
