Yes, HCG is used to treat infertility. That's fine. But pairing it with a 500 calorie diet for weight loss? Dangerous. If your doc prescribes it for weight loss -which is not FDA approved- report him or her to the medical board and run.

That would also be my speculation! Because your body is working hard to cool your body temperature, it would increase the metabolic needs of body tissues, resulting in increased HR. Also, I didn't think you were one of the people who should be avoiding Bikram- it was more of a PSA for anyone considering starting

I hate to tell you this, but you aren't taking HCG. Well, unless you're buying it illegally online, since the FDA banned it. Otherwise, whatever you're taking *is* just a gimmick and you've been duped into eating a dangerously low calorie diet. Womp womp.

I didn't misread- I mentioned in my first post that the control group did not practice. I also stated that I could only find one article discussing her concern - the very same article she had read. It was a limited study, but the only one I found through CINAHL. In my second post (the one you quoted) I'm talking strictly…

"Oh well?" It's not a total wash- You get the benefits of increased muscle strength and decreased body fat from practicing Bikram! It certainly isn't doing you any harm, as long as you hydrate before and after, and replace electrolytes after  I love my power vinyasa class. I definitely get a full body workout in it,…

I searched through CINAHL and could only find one study which pertained only to Bikram, and it followed participants for a short term period of 8 weeks. The researchers found that in the yoga group, compared to the control group that performed no yoga, there was an overall increase in muscle strength (except in grip…

My fiance makes labneh which is the Lebanese version of Greek yogurt. It turns out super yummy! Just strain it in cheese cloth hung over a bowl in the fridge. I'll see if I can get his recipe later tonight when he gets home.

MFP will calculate your BMR when you start based on your stats, then suggest a caloric intake. The caloric intake they give you has a deficit built in based on the amount of weight you want to lose per week. You don't need to add a deficit on top of a deficit.

You can monitor how much cholesterol you take in your diet by changing your goals. I changed mine to 200 mg max, but I rarely get close to that following a pescetarian diet. You can help lower your cholesterol by consuming soluble fiber (dried fruits, oats, beans), which slows the reabsorption of bile in your GI tract and…

I was going to post a South Park gif but decided that would probably get me a strike or something. Whatever happens when you misbehave on the boards.

This is the program I used: http://c25kfree.com It was great for getting me started as someone who had never been a runner or any kind of athlete before. It helped me to build up my endurance. If I struggled with a day or a week, I'd repeat as necessary. However, it tracks the time you run, not the distance. Once I built…

You realize the image you posted is of a lie detector test, right?

I think the "guru" you want is actually a therapist. One who can help guide you to find out why you're doing what you're doing. Cognitive behavioral therapy with an eating disorder specialty. Personally, I've realized that no one else can be responsible for my choices or health. I've got to take the reins. It's one thing…

I did Medifast 5 years ago. I lost about 35 lbs on it total (I don't remember over how much time, but it averaged out to about 1.5 lb/wk). It was expensive. More expensive than cooking on my own. The food was awful (although I hear it's better). If you do it, some caution regarding the meal bars: they will make you fart so…

I find that it helps if I plan out my meals the day before and cook what needs to be cooked the night before. If I don't plan ahead, I either under eat or over eat. Also take a look at the food you're eating: nutrient- versus energy-dense foods. Fat isn't your enemy. It'll help hold you over, and so will protein.

Everyone has their own "normal." Less than 3x a week is considered constipation.

Aw man. Being in nursing school I could talk about poop forever, but I see DatMurse got to it first! What have you tried to fix it? Has this happened before? What did you do then that fixed it? Have there been any changes in daily routine (are you now busy with some activity at the time you would normally go)?…

"No, thank you" (with a smile) should be enough (but I know most of the time it isn't). Our celebrations tend to be focused around food and alcohol, and usually overindulgence in both. I grew up in a family that believed turning down seconds was a sin - and we all have weight issues thanks to that school of thought! But…

Find an image hosting site, like www.photobucket.com, and upload your photos there. Copy the url from the image you want to post. In a forum, type [i m g]yourlinkgoeshere[/ i m g] but without spaces. I'm not sure why, but it's only worked for me if I right-click on my uploaded image and open it in a new tab, then use the…

OMG my friend told me to try the coconut butter with molasses on a sweet potato and it is amazing! Coconut butter isn't as nutty as other nut butters (I giggle every time I say that), and the molasses is malty and slightly sweet. I add a little salt and pepper too. And as for my cat, yeah, she went for it (but didn't get…

Feel free to check out my diary for some ideas. I eat a pescetarian diet, so some of the meals have fish. You can also check out the group Happy Herbivores http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/45-happy-herbivores and this thread on there: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/974337-pictures-of-what-you-re-eating You…

Check out your local rec center for classes - they can teach you the basics. Or if you have a family member or friend who's willing to teach you, that's great too. There are also great instructional videos on YouTube. I also use Pinterest to find recipes.

Hypothetical situation: If you found a crystal ball that told you the future, and it said you would end up with "formally [sic] fat girl" look after losing weight, would that make you want to not lose the weight? I guess my point is, your original post comes off as vain and judgmental, and it sounds like maybe you're…
