  • Very true! I didn't think about that, but it hurts my muscles worse when I walk them (which I have to do when I'm touring prospective residents) than when I run them. Maybe because I'm not using momentum from running???
  • I have absolutely no idea what I'm "supposed" to do, I just got the idea that I needed to do something. I started doing the stairs because there are so many of them where I work (apartment community). We have buildings with 4 stories (3 flights of stairs). I ran up and down those 3 flights once every day last week. This…
  • Good for you!!! Amazing transformation! :drinker:
  • AMEN! I thought the same thing - cook one meal. Then decide how much you're going to eat of it and skip the "extras" - like to the fresco (salsa) type sauces for yours instead of the alfredo "creamy" type sauces, etc. Just substitute the healthier version for yourself. :)
  • Neither of my boys were planned, but I knew I was pregnant almost immediately with both of them. I only gained 14 lbs with the first one (he was 8 lbs. 2 oz.) and I gained 11 with the 2nd one (7 lbs. 6 oz.). For the first 6 months with Baby #1, my stomach was still flat. Of course, that did eventually change - a little…
  • Ham (or some kind of pork), collard greens, black-eye peas and cornbread. Pork and sourkraut sounds really good, too!
  • You GO! That's awesome!!! On to the next goal. :)
  • I'm in Alabama. It's not exactly warm, but I could run outside except for the face that we got monsoon-like rain today. And tuna cupcakes sound NASTY! lol
  • You are forgiven! LOL!
  • I've seen so many different opinions on this subject. Being that I don't tend to make things harder than the need to be, I just decided that water is water. I log it under my water intake. If I drink anything else, I log it elsewhere. But, I don't flavor my water at all - I don't like it flavored.
  • I had a day like that yesterday. My stomach literally growled all day long. I put more protein and fiber in today and I am doing much better. Hang in there!
  • You are NOT a loser. :noway: I didn't do any exercise yesterday at all. I had one of those days where I was hungry all day long and nothing I ate could fill me up. So, I was over my calories, didn't exercise and decided something: What the heck? We're going to have a "day" every once in a while. I'm not going to beat…
  • First, I'm sorry that happened to you. I had TONS of friends until I got pregnant at 19 with my first son (he's 22 now). A lot of mine did the same. They disappeared. But, we had different goals, etc. in life at that point anyway. Mine was to be a mom to my son and theirs was to continue to party and shop and do whatever…
  • I'm a single mom with a job that keeps me going 50-60+ hours a week during the normal "school" year and 80-90+ during the summer hours. I'm also having to do the cleaning, cooking, grocery shopping, etc. that comes with being a mom, as well. You can do it. I get up (during the week) at 5 am, instead of 6, so that I can get…
  • My first day logging in my food was a real eye-opener, too. Welcome to it! You'll find a lot of supportive people here. Friend request sent! We can do it together.
  • You look amazing! Keep up the good work - it's very obviously paying off! :flowerforyou:
  • I'm starting today, as well. I was going to start this morning, but I woke up to a monsoon outside. It's now down to "drizzling" outside, but doesn't show any signs of stopping. I may have to start on the treadmill, and I hate running on those things. Oh, well....we can do it. I'll be at the gym in a few. :)
  • I normally don't make New Year Resolutions. I've never stuck to them before, so I haven't seen the point in the past years to do it. But, I've decided that my resolutions are my goals (short-term and long-term) for a healthier, happier life. Here they are: Learn to run again - I start my C25K tomorrow morning! Lose 5 lbs…
  • Go to your home page and there should be a little red indicator somewhere at the top saying that you have X number of friend requests. Click on that and then click accept beside each name. It's easy. And thank you - I'm really very excited about this C25K thing. I used to run 6 to 8 miles a day back when I was in my early…
  • Thanks! I'm starting tomorrow morning and I'm really excited about it!
  • Hi Kayla! First things first: Welcome! I've been here for 5 days and have never met a bunch of people more supportive than those here. Now, I don't have as much to lose as you do - I'm aiming for 15 to 20 lbs and I plan on sticking with it even after I lose the weight. I'm starting my Couch to 5K tomorrow morning and if…
  • Good for you! That's awesome :)
  • Here in the south it goes something like this: Collard greens (or some kind of green, if you don't like those) looks like folded up money and are supposed to bring wealth; Ham (due to it's high fat content) is supposed to bring wealth and prosperity, as well; Black-eyed peas are supposed to bring good luck because they…
  • I get annoyed with my friends sometimes. I am trying really hard to eat healthier, I've started exercising for the first time in 20 years (literally), and I do want to lose 15-ish pounds. I have friends saying things like "I hate you - you're already so skinny" and "Shut up and eat - you make me sick". Yes, I'm 5'3" and…
  • That is a good one, as well! Me, too!
  • I can't imagine doing anything like that. It might work - I don't know - but 500 cals a day just SOUNDS unhealthy. And coming from a girl who likes to eat (okay, I'll be real for a minute - I LOVE TO EAT! lol!), I don't see myself ever doing anything that restricts my daily caloric intake to 500. I can put that away in one…
  • I have two goals right now. The first is to learn to run again. I used to run, but it's been years. And the second is to lose 5 lbs by the end of January. These two things I can do. Happy New Year!
  • You can do it! Happy New Year and don't worry - there are so many people here to help support you. I've been here for 5 days and the people are AMAZING!
  • Okay, I'm taking your advice. I'm waiting until I get my own scale. If I go and have gained 5 lbs. I'll be more than disappointed. I'll just keep doing what I'm doing until I have a scale in my bathroom. Thanks, guys! :)
  • Yeah. Thanks. I just wanted to get an "idea" of where I am. I guess I'll just jump on and use it as just that - a general idea of where I am. :)
