I started last week (right before New Year's) and I literally was STARVING for the first 5 days. My body adjusted. Listed to what everyone else said - eat tons of fruit and raw veggies. Very little calories and they fill you up. And I drink water like a camel, too! :)

What it is saying is this: You are alloted a certain amount of calories per day. You eat some, you exercise and they give you back what you've burned and that equals your net calories. There are differing opinions on this, but most (including me) believe you need to eat at least half (if not all) of your exercise calories.…

Congratulations! That's awesome. And you really don't need luck - just watch your calories, exercise regularly, come talk to us if you have a bad day, and get excited...you're getting MARRIED! :flowerforyou:

It's a big, fat YES for me. I drink it with fat free Hazelnut creamer (35 cals/tbsp) and splenda. I usually have 2 and will budget the calories from the creamer into my day. It's the only thing that gets me going and keeps me from being cranky. I am not a morning person.

I'm by no means saying that you shouldn't do it. I'm just a big crybaby when it comes to that particular machine. It's a great workout.

I recently started the Couch to 5K, as well. I hate the elliptical and avoid it at all costs. It just KILLS me. I can stay on the treadmill for over an hour, but 2 minutes into the elliptical and I'm saying the ugly words. :/

You guys are going to think I'm insane, but I love tomatoes. LOVE them. A whole tomato (washed well and eaten like an apple) = 25 calories! :) Woot!
-
I concur! Taking a multivitamin couldn't hurt either. :)

*skim* not skin. lol

Odaatsue has a great point, but I love, love, LOVE it. I can't imagine not drinking milk and I usually have a glass a day (sometimes more). I do drink the skin milk, but it's because my youngest son had open-heart surgery when he was little and the repair they did to his heart puts him at a greater risk of heart disease,…

I wish I could give you an answer. As a single mom, I work outside the home, but live right around the block, thank goodness (for lunch purposes) and have been doing really well. But, this vacation time around Christmas/New Year's has really challenged me. My kitchen is right here all day. Ugh! I'm usually good until night…

I didn't think about that! I love peanut butter. I might do that, just to say I tried. lol

Thanks everyone. This is not a normal thing for me. I love to eat. But, I was on the road all day and didn't take anything with me. It was pretzels or a hamburger from Five Guys, so I chose the pretzels and waited until I got home. I appreciate the input! :)

Same for me. I will eat like crazy after the boy is in the bed if I'm not careful. I do the same thing as pedailey....grab water and realize I'm just bored and walk away from the fridge.

Auburn, Alabama. No snow but we did have a ton of rain this weekend and I ended up having to run indoors.

Way to go!!!! I'm on my way to learning how to run again. Tomorrow morning at 5am is Day 2 for me. Thanks for the breathing tips everyone. That's the thing that always gets me - I feel like I can't catch my breath and have to stop to walk. I'll try the breathing in the morning - I have a feeling I'm going to be singing…

I've heard that, too. Unfortunately, I live in a college town. Translation: lost of broken beer bottles, dog poo, and stuff. Unfortunately, I can't run barefoot here.
-
I want to do it one day, but I'm nowhere near ready and I know it. Go for it, though!
-
I've never heard that before, but so, so, so true!

I graduated high school at 5'3" and 151. I was raised in a family where a cookie, brownie, or piece of cake solved all your problems. LOL! I joined the Air Force and when I graduated from Basic Training 6 weeks later I weight 108. Now, I'm 135 and aiming for 115. I feel really good there, and I want to put the muscle back…

Do you like to walk/run? I needed something structured, as well, so I looked up the Couch to 5K program and just started it yesterday. I like it if someone is telling me exactly what to do and when. I don't really know what I'm doing in the gym, but I looked up a few exercises for arms and legs on the internet and do them…

I only have about 15-20 to lose, but I am working on strength training and running a 5K, so I'll be on here for the duration. Friend request sent! :)

Okay, if it's confessional time, I'll play. I went 482 over my calories on the 31st and didn't exercise (unless you count getting up and walking to fridge as exercise! lol). I did MUCH better yesterday and I'm on track again for today, as well. I think we all have those days. Don't feel bad about it, okay? Just do better…

I don't think it's odd at all - I have the same craving sometimes. I think I just need the crunch, as well. Rice cakes are a good option, and probably healthier than the chips I will indulge in every once in a while. I get a few plain tortilla chips (serving size is 9), and a tiny bit of salsa, and crunch away. I don't do…

I had the same question at first. The only thing I've counted now is when I painted a room in my house. It's not something I normally do, and I was sore for a few days afterwards. It was a good arm workout! :)

I've never like any kind of cold coffee drink (I don't even like coffee flavored ice cream), so it's never been an issue for me. But, if I could figure out how to make Panera's caramel latte - well, I would be one happy, happy girl! lol Good for you!

I was running for a while today to 80's music. (It's my shame and guilty pleasure) Nothing gets you going like Culture Club! LOL!

Welcome! Friend request sent. :)

Try this: http://www.coolrunning.com/engine/2/2_3/181.shtml It's called the Couch to 5K and I'm doing it right now (just started today) - it's a schedule to get you up and running, without hurting yourself or getting you so tired and out of breath that you just give up. I did my first day today, and as scared as I was, it…

You look great! Amazing job!
