Had to Google Jon Cryer - I guess that's a compliment, so thanks very much! Every blessing with your efforts to stay dry.

I gave up the booze when I became a Christian. Life's been anything but boring since. In fact I was a much more boring person when I drank and took drugs (although I thought I was startling company). I wish I could encourage you to just go along to your local church, but the truth is that many of them aren't so good these…

Hi All I've formed a group that you might like to join so that we can support each other without cluttering up the Forums. So please, feel free to join it - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/22576-30-day-shred-july-august-2014 I couldn't work out how to add a photo to the group, so it doesn't look especially jazzy…

Great. Thanks, All. It looks like there's no time like the present! I'll join you all and start on level one tonight when I get home. Thanks very much! Greg

Hi again Judging by the last post, I'd better clarify what I mean. The 30 day shred is an exercise video, which takes 25 minutes each day. That's something manageable for me to commit to. I won't be doing any fad dieting, just adding a bit of exercise to my daily routine for a month (and maybe beyond). If you don't have…

Hi BP2BABE Firstly, really well done for wanting to tackle your weight gain. I'm not bipolar myself, but have been on psych drugs myself for 21 years. I wish I'd tackled my weight gain quickly, but I always assumed I would come off the meds soon enough (my condition of paranoia was started by illegal drug taking, so I…

Yes, it's absolutely lovely. Many thanks, all, for your kind encouragement.

Thanks very much, everyone. I wouldn't be able to do it without MyFitnessPals!
-
Ha ha. Thanks for the advice. I'll probably put her on mute soon enough!

That's great. Thanks very much. Yes, I suppose I thought it would be best to do it every day. I reckon that I'm more likely to do it if I know I have to do it every day. As soon as I factor in break days, I imagine I'd be tempted to make every day a break day.

Just reposting in case anyone fancies joining me. If not, it'll have to be on my own.

I'd join my local rugby club. I'd love to have one more season, but I'd have to be much fitter than I am now. 12 months ago there was no chance of ever playing again. Now it's a very real goal, thank the Lord and MyFitnessPal!

How very lovely! Congratulations.

Very much like this thread. My school motto was "Paulatim sed firmiter" (gradually but surely). Not necessarily the most dynamic of mottos, but a really nice one to live by and to diet by :-) Before Current (work in progress)

That's brilliant! Well done. It encourages me to carry on too - thanks

Not sure if this helps, but I reckon I need to set an end date for the break before I've even started it. I reckon that if I didn't set an end date, it could potentially just go on and on.

Looking great! Very well done.

Thanks very much all! Much appreciated. Need to keep going.

Unfortunately I took a fair bit of drugs as a teenager, which left me paranoid. So I had to take a medicine (Sulpiride) that I still take today. It seemed to do two things (as well as successfully knock the paranoia on the head): firstly it made me more tired (and so I largely stopped exercise) and secondly it gave me an…

Okay. Thanks very much for the advice.

Thanks very much. My main exercise has been walking with a little bit of exercise bike. I think I'll start a bit of strength exercise then. I can afford a bit of time for that. I think my food intake is reasonably good already. I seem to score quite well on the ratios of carbs to protein to fat, ie I get fairly similar…
