That will depend on how you adapt to the training. I've found it easier to add time before adding speed. I'll add my vote for working toward the 10K. That is a great distance. Good Luck!

Hi, I'm Clark and I live in Michigan. I've run 6 marathons, 5 half marathons and assorted other races. I just retired from the USAF Reserve after 26 years and 5 deployments. This year, I am focusing on losing the penalty weight (~35 lbs) I've picked up over the years. I also plan to run 2 marathons.

The key is to not do too much. The rest days in between are as important as the running schedule. This allows your body to recover. I ran the last one and enjoyed it greatly. It is my current marathon PR, but my PR is over 6 hours as I'm a slooow runner. It was great running by the various monuments and the capitol bulding.
