I'm also a guy who is 280lbs... If you're worried about just talking to people, go to the gym and have a trainer help you out. I can promise you the VAST majority of the people in the gym aren't looking at you.

Find a way that works for you. Personally, I've found that if I work out RIGHT when I get home from work, I stick to the plan a lot better than if I wait an hour or two, or try to wake up early to do it.

To put it simply... OP needs to further evaluate her BF%, as body composition is a better guide than a number on the scale. You could be 140# with a flat stomach if you had a different body composition.

Because BMI is a horridly inaccurate system that does nothing to account for body composition. An example... my "ideal weight" according to BMI would have me 45 pounds lighter than my current LBM weight.

There is ZERO science to back this claim. If you feel better doing it, then do it... that's your personal preference, and that's perfectly fine. BUT... it's not required. "where are you going to get the energy" is actually really easy to answer... most people are on this site to lose some of the energy they have to take on…

It's fairly obvious you aren't diabetic (type 1), because if you were, and you were in ketosis... it would be ketoacidosis and you'd be pretty close to dying.
