100 lbs to go with a "number in my head" of 150 total by the time I'm done, but I'll re-evaluate when i get closer to goal. Not doing surgery, heck I don't even like taking pain meds for a headache so surgery is NOT an option for something I can do something about with other means.

With 73 lbs to go by your ticker I'd assume you are set to lose 2 lbs per week... if you ate over by 1000 calories today all you did is 0'd out todays deficit. I went over today too, by 200, but it's within my 1000 calorie deficit.

My home > Goals the last line in the right column is "projected weight loss" but for those of us with "appropriate for our size' goals, it will magically be at the 1lb per week or 2 lbs per week we've selected. Others have covered the rest quite sufficiently. ;) Regardless of what your "planned" exercise is it doesn't…

Oh I wasn't meaning to imply you were "new" to exercising, I am though besides the daily chores with a garden and livestock to take care of :) With beginner on the label I assumed it'd be "an easy place to start" and I couldn't keep up with half of it.

My first stop would be the local library and check out a couple exercise videos to get an idea of what you like I do have some Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels videos that we got new for $12-$15 so not that big of a hit BUT they DO vary in intensity... the Bob Harper "beginners" workout I have is NOT for someone going from…

5 pints is 2.3 L... or 300mL more than the 8x8oz glasses 5 pints = 80 ounces... goal is 64 oz for the 8x8 oz glasses google search bar... convert 5 pints to mL convert X mL to ounces etc

roughly 250 mL... ie 4 cups makes a liter.

for the scorching you think a double-boiler setup would be appropriate? I have a double boiler insert as well as lots of mixing bowls in stainless steel that fit over most of my sauce-pans... that more indirect heat should prevent scorching danger entirely, no?

the database of foods, only a couple times have I come across a food I wish to log that wasn't already available for use.

Pumpkin puree... I guess I better really put pumpkins in the garden this year, finding way more demand for the puree than I can justify buying at $5 per can at the store for. Thanks for the ideas so far, I also got suggestions of rice pudding... I may just have to try some of the recipes available in Joy of Cooking, thanks…

Just because you're buying at a thrift store doesn't mean you're getting 'used' clothes, lots of folks buy clothes just because they're on sale or they like the look and then never get around to wearing them because they have so much. I can't count the number of times I've found a designer label still with tags on it for…

I like Stevia... I live in Canada and it grows in my garden just fine. I got my seeds from McKenzie seeds, they have a website :) Honey IF I can get get natural raw honey not the pasturized stuff in the grocery store. I've got a growing season just inside the window for sugar beets and have grown other beets successfully…

Radish like anything else have many different actual varieties... you might not have liked the particular ones your parents grew (maybe it was how they were prepared (or not prepared if raw) ) but there may be a variety you actually like. Worth experimenting sometimes. Different cooking methods emphasize different aspects…

I like VergingonVegan's idea... I apply it when I travel anyway, instead of a suitcase just for all the different outfits for a week a pair of pants in the bag and the ones I'm wearing for the trip... 4 or 5 different shirts.... a sweater for any cold evenings... leaves me half or more of the old suitcase to use for…

Thrift stores are your friend... I've changed pant sizes 3 times through this journey (realized it's every 2" not every 1" typically) value village, salvation army, second hand shops in town.... sometimes brand name products still with the tags on for $3 instead of $60+ I'm buying my "transition" stuff there to keep it…

they're very fast growing... something like 5 weeks from planting to being able to use them. I need to find more ways to use them. Also need to remember to stagger my planting so it doesn't all come in at once. Great in salads.... or grated when you want a bit of zing

your starfrit has conversions... it also has the "tare" function allowing you to reset the scale to 0 after each item and keep adding ingredients in the same container It does use a 9V battery though so make sure you have one available

I tried the "quick solution' of 1500 calories minimum for a guy.... and everyone around me suffered. I also didn't lose weight. I upped calories to around 2000 before any exercise and had been losing fine even eating all my exercise calories, eat more to lose more.... as long as you've got your deficit that comes from…

It's a $30 scale on for $10... mine is a $12 scale that was on for $10.... looks good I'd be grabbing that one if I didn't already have one.

I do dry baking for cod usually, well.. sometimes with lemon juice etc... that cod you've got to rinse is salt-cod and is supremely salted, a single 100gram serving has something like 3 x your daily sodium allowance. Ugh. But a cod fillet.... baked with some condensed milk made an immensely tasty treat. Open up your spice…

it will vary based on how thick the slice is but I usually find a 1" cube will be about an ounce for cheddars etc. Another option is to look at the size of the block... if it's 700 grams if I cut it into 25 even pieces then they are just a little under an ounce each. But I do have a scale and do it that way a block at a…

get some of those metal puzzle toys, that are linked together and only separate one way by flipping them around. I always had that as Cypress Hill song by the way :P

appears by the "text" around the ticker that 2 of you are pasting your ticker code (not to mention quoting their post sticking the ticker in the quote) WHere you are reading this you can save yourself some time Up top it says Message Boards > INtroduce Yourself Home > Recent Posts > My Topics > SETTINGS > Search Under…

I treat the "limit" as being for added sugars. I don't "count" the sugar from my fruit. I also don't have the underlying health issues that would make me worry about sugar intake too much. Definitely check your ingredients lists, some definitely 'hide' how much sugar is in an item by main ingredient being some non sugar…

spinach is great, not just baby spinach... the bigger leaves make a great 'bun' for a burger or hotdog at the barbecue. It's compact, doesn't impart much taste itself...

I've cut the added salt entirely from my diet. But now I go through summer savory, peppercorn (have the grinder), cayenne pepper, red chili pepper flakes, chipotle etc etc a lot. It was just the "flavour change" I was after apparently and replacing it with all these various spices keeps things interesting.

spice - salt brings up lots of results Spices - Salt, table for instance or Spices - Sea Salt

It's getting better as I find healthy alternatives, like I can GET my pizza taste by buying a pack of soft tortillas, spread the pizza sauce on them, add the pizza-y toppings and bake until the cheese is melted.. 8 minutes if the oven is pre-heated, 10 minutes if its not. Portions are a problem I'm noticing too, I "hate"…

Mine is progress... I was down 38 lbs, now I'm down 16... I seem to still give myself the... "hey you're making this work, lets go get...." SO often I start to see progress even a pound or 2 down and it's like oooh Doritos today... just have to figure out how to get by it.
