Hi, I'm doing it, currently in my 2nd week and I'm doubling up with p90x3 too so most days I do double workouts. I've also changed the order of some of the workout days so I don't exercise the same body part on the same day or do too much cardio etc.

I have been living in trainers recently due to doing so much training and the fact I work from home but I have been rotating shoes between Nike running shoes, Reebok training/toning shoes (which feel a bit better) and as it's been hot this week I've also worn my Fitflops. I don't wear wedges or heels much at the moment…

I've been getting pain on the sole of one foot. It feels like a muscular pain which is on the ball of the left foot and I guess it's caused by walking a lot and also the other exercise I'm doing.

Is this really anorexia? I have a friend who used to be overweight but she lost a lot of weight and stopped smoking around 10 years ago and since then she's been cycling everywhere or doing cardio daily (mainly indoor running) as she's paranoid about gaining weight and wants to eat what she likes. She continued exercising…

I have a home gym but I don't use it very often because I prefer DVD workouts like Jillian Michaels or the Beachbody series. I find them a lot more motivating and it gives me a progressively difficult program to follow. I also take my dog for walks a few times a week and when I want a change I head into the gym and use the…

Muscle doesn't weigh more than fat! It just takes up less space so you appear smaller at the same weight. I only lose 0.25-0.5 lbs a week on this WOE though since I've been doing it I have been eating around 1650 on non fast days Which I've realised is too much. I exercise 7 days a week too but even with that too I don't…

This is amazing to read as I'm currently 31% with a BMI of 23.8 so technically healthy, but I hate the way my body looks due to having such a high body fat %. I'm aiming to get to 20% or lower if I can and am working hard for it. How long did it take you to get to where you are now and how did you do it? What's your…

I know exactly what you mean. I have been overweight before, but 13 years ago I lost 56lbs and since then I have been within a healthy BMI range and weight for my height. Despite that, maybe because at one stage I let my weight get out of control I have a lot of body fat, and therefore have not been happy with my body as…

Yes that's true, they do recommend eating at TDEE on non-fast days and up until now I thought my TDEE (sedentary) was a bit higher so I was eating 1550-1650 on my non-fast days but from what I've read on 5:2 forums a lot of people eat to their active TDEE which in my case should be around 1800-2200, however either way I'm…

Sorry I was half asleep! Mean 1900-2300!!! The most steps I've ever had is 19,800 which was on Saturday but normally it's between 9000 & 12000!

It's certainly intesting that many people live healthy long lives by restricting calories or fasting in one form or another. In my case I am happy doing 5:2 because it can help with appetite on the non-fast days amount other advantages. As for burning calories and logging correctly I will continue to underestimate my burns…

Mr night and as I've just said, ignore the amount I ate yesterday ie. 1700 because my weekly average was still only 1350 taking into account my fast days. I don't count calorie burns from exercise anyway so even if they are way overestimated every single day and are only 50% of what I think they are that still leaves me…

To the poster who asked for my height I'm 5 foot 4. Also calorie burns from my 2 hour walk, I was walking at a very brisk pace and I did circuit training straight afterwards. If my calories burns including Fitbit calories burned extra were 1200 on MFP and my goal was therefore too high at 2400, I only ate 1700 so I should…

Starting tomorrow but doing it alongside P90X3 so feeling a little nervous!

I finally decided on P90X3 and T25 doubles and I'm starting tomorrow so will let you know how I get on!

Terrapin my boyfriend and I both work from home so I know what he's been eating during the period since his cholesterol went down. He has to have blood tests for a medical problem every 3-6 months and up until now it's been about the same, but the last blood test was only a couple of weeks ago after he'd been on 5:2 for…

Mamapeach I hardly think that by wanting to lose 1lb per week I'm crash dieting or doing anything unhealthy. It's not exactly fast weight loss by anyone's standards. I'd be more than happy to be losing less than 1lb per week as long as I can see some kind of weight loss every week so I think you're being a tad melodramatic…
-
I'm doing 5:2 for the health benefits to both myself and more importantly my boyfriend as so far he's managed to lower his cholesterol level in just a few weeks from high to normal levels. I find it also allows me to eat a little more on non-fast days rather than eating less every day of the week which I find difficult to…

Ok, get off your high horse! I have come across several posts where people say things like 'don't eat 500 calories on any day of the week' or 'intermittent fasting is really not safe' etc. etc. As for calorie restriction, I was specifically talking about calorie restriction by 30% or more on a regular basis which is…

I might try and aim for 0.75 per week and increase exercise a little and hopefully I'll hit that 1lb weekly loss. I definitely can't be eating more than I think, exercise calorie burns are not too low and I already know there's no medical problem. As already said, my TDEE is just lower than I have been lead to believe…
-
Lemurcat12 that sounds like a good idea, I haven't thought of that. Taking this month as an example that would make my TDEE 1460 which is much lower than calculators put me at as that also takes into account the exercise I've been doing. To lose weight at a minimum rate of 1lb per week, I'd therefore have to eat 960…

Mint_Julep I exercise every single day for a minimum of 40 minutes, sometimes for up to 2 hours. mamapeach910 you're right, my exercise calories are not in my calculations. My TDEE based on sedentary is 1495 at my current weight, based on lightly active which I probably am since I got a fitbit a few weeks ago it's about…

Ana, I always buy the smallest eggs, most other foods I take the nutritional information about calories from the label and for fruit and vegetables I buy the smallest possible and log based on that depending on how much I have. I don't think I'm eating more than I realise and even if I was, my calorie burns should allow me…
-
To those people who ask about measuring food and logging accurately I can confirm that I am extremely anal about such matters so yes. Other than the fact that food labels may not be 100% accurate, I weigh and measure absolutely everything and as I work from home I am able to do so for the majority of things I eat. If it…

Firstly, I was just asking a general question after having seen/read a lot of information about this subject recently, and wondered as a user of MFP and someone who reads the forums why calorie restriction or IF in general was not approved of by a lot of people on here. Not only for weight loss reasons but also for reasons…

Kruggeri I don't have scientific evidence about things like the lean muscle or bone density of these individuals but they all claim to have masses of energy, though personally like you'd I'd much rather eat a little of what I like such as chocolate, cake, alcohol etc. I was just curious as to why these kind of lifestyle…

Rabbitjb, I've actually been averaging 1330 calories a day across the week and I'm not losing. I am also burning off a minimum of 300 calories per day and some days it's been as much as 700 or so (being conservative with calorie burns). My TDEE is 'supposed to be' about 1475 sedentary. I want to lose 22lbs in total and 10%…

Fair enough, I am currently enjoying fasting but like you am not losing much weight. How much are you eating every day now to be able to lose 1lb per week and how much do you have to lose? I think I'll continue with 5:2 mainly because it allows me to be able to eat a lot more on non-fast days as otherwise I'd be on 1200…

ar9179, I agree, those people don't look particularly healthy but their numbers say they are. I personally wouldn't want to look like that either but they are supposedly able to outlive most of us who don't do that! Pu_239, of course if they were eating less than they needed to stay alive they wouldn't. Maybe it's a case…

Ok fair enough, so in that case how can the 'calorie restriction' dieters who eat that way forever claim to be so healthy if they restrict so much? Why do they not suffer from these problems? Maybe it's down to what they are eating, not the quantity? In the BBC2 documentary I saw yesterday (can't remember name) there were…
