Thanks for all the replies. I've been here many times before so I know I'm not underestimating my calorie intake. I've had my thyroid checked and all was OK, but what I was told by the nutritionist I worked with a few years back was that calorie burn through exercise is often overestimates. That, in addition to the fact…

Thanks but I was logging my foods for months, and being very careful with my calorie and fat consumption, but other than the initial water weight I lost nothing after the first 2-3 weeks. I have now stopped logging, counting etc. but I know that I eat more or less the same thing every day, which doesn´t exceed 1200…

I know, in quite an impatient person but having said that, the last year has gone really fast! I will take on board all the advice which has been really helpful and I'm sure I'll reach my goal.

Thanks, I agree with what you've said, though I average 1400 calories so I only have 5 x 1000 calorie days and 2 x 2000 calorie. I find that fits into my lifestyle and stops me feeling deprived or left out at weekends, and jeeps me on track the rest of the time. I must admit I find weight training a little boring, but I…

Will look into it. It can be hard trying to figure things out on your own. I am happy with my diet/training right now, I would just like to lose a few more kilos/body fat %. All my larger clothes are gone so not much room to put on size! I did that because in the past it's been too easy to fall off the wagon and go back to…

Thanks, my current weight is actually 121lbs not 130 BTW. Regarding calorie intake, with exercise, calculators say I burn around the numbers you've stated ie. According to Fitbit, MFP etc. but in reality by body doesn't actually burn that much, or calorie burn numbers ate being overestimated. My average right now across 7…

Thank you! I already do weight training, but I've been getting bored with it recently so now do a variety of strength training including body weight training, Yoga as well as weights. I've always trained (for the last 20 years) so I know that diet is the main thing which is going to get me too my goal, and also calorie…

Good for you! I didn't ever think I'd get as low as I am now, but it's been a slow process and I'm glad I did it this way. I don't think I could have without cheat days though as I find I get tempted. Knowing I have 1 or 2 days to eat what I like makes the weekdays much easier.

Yes, I just typed into Google 'ideal weight for height calculator' and weight for 'frame size' etc. And there are lots of online tools. I found one which asked for several measurements like height, age and wrist, waist plus other measurements, body fat % and came up with several results. All the ones I tried said my frame…

I wouldn't worry about hitting that number. Aim for your first target and go from there. That's where I am. It's taken me a year to get 16 kilos off and personally I'm not in a hurry so don't care if it takes another 6 months to lose the last few kgs.
-
Pickcupcakes actually it's not. Loads of online calculators have this as the ideal weight for a small framed person of this height (like me). Depends on frame size.
-
I would have agreed with you about the weight but I've taken measurements and I'm tiny framed, and from looking in the mirror I can see that I have plenty of fat still to lose so I don't think that aiming to get 3-4 more kilos off is unreasonable given my size. I have no desire to be 49 kg, just maybe 51 or 52. It does…

Your doctor is right! I´m your height too and am currently 55kgs and believe me I´m nowhere near done with my weight loss journey. It´s going to be a slow process getting the last few kgs off, but I am determined to stip off the excess fat I´m still visibly carrying. Body fat % plays a large part in this so maybe find out…

It takes a long time to get rid of all the fat! I don´t know your body fat % but I´m around your height (163) and was 71 kgs in Feb 2020 and am now down to 55 kgs. My body fat was really high before but it was all over my body, and now I´ve lost loads (down to 25% form 39% at the start). I can see that the main areas of…

Hi Emily I'm from London but now live in Spain. I'm not sure how tall you are but your story sounds similar to mine though I'm older (46). I'm 5'4 and in February 2020 my weight got to 11 stone 1! It was out of control and I really wanted to do something about it. My body fat was up to 39% and my size 12 clothes were…

I've always done low reps higher weights and I'm finding it boring. I guess I prefer guided workouts because if not I feel like I'm always doing the same moves. I find that I'm using other muscles when I follow a guided programme especially one with a series of videos. Plus I'm more motivated to do it when someone is on a…

I only just saw this and signed up for a free trial on a site I saw on a FB ad called Ali moves. So far I like it, they have loads of trainers with series of workouts, some with weights, some Yoga or Pilates etc. And the series videos can be done for 7 days, 28 days etc. Ive liked Les Mills classes I've done before though…

Wow wish I could eat that much! I'm on 1200-1300 Mon-Fri and 1500-2000 at weeks, but I'm doing a lot of cardio and walking and only just started losing again.
-
Sounds a lot like me, though I've never been bale to eat 2000 caloroes and lose weight! Covid was a massive turning point for me and losing the weight have me something to focus on. I'm now the lightest I can ever remember being and knowing that I still don't look or feel like I'm at my goal makes me more determined to get…

Thanks. I am focusing on bf% but know I will never be shapeless as all my fat gathers around my upper arms, bum, thighs and lower tummy area. If I manage to lose that I'll definitely be lighter. Right now my BMI is 20.7% so not to low. If I manage to strip off the fat and find I'm too light I'll work on gaining muscle but…

That’s pretty much my body fat at 122lbs so you are probably carrying a lot more muscle than me! I’d also like to get down to around 21% body fat. Once I’m there I may look at putting on a bit more muscle but I’m 46 so I don’t expect it to be easy!
-
Completely agree!

I personally find this topic very motivating. I’ve spent too many years telling myself I look alright and I’m not really that big but it got to a point where I was working out and thought that was enough, but my diet was out of control. I was up to 39% body fat and it really wasn’t healthy, even though I was still wearing…

I'm sure you look great at 118 but I know how you feel. What did you have to eat to get there? I'm hoping not to have to go below 1100 calories and clean eating most days with weekends off. That's what I did to get to where I am but also do cardio in the gym and a couple of fog walks every day. Also do weights and Yoga.
-
Enviable stats! I'm hoping to get down to about 22% body fat. Can't wait to see my abs properly.
-
Great! That's pretty much the weight I'm aiming for. My hips are currently 33 so definitely room for improvement there and also on my thighs.
-
Yes. not far off! I'm 5'4". What's your goal weight/body fat? I'll have a look at what you suggested so thanks for the tip. I use You Tube for my Yoga workouts and love them but not for anything else as there's information overload so it can be hard to choose the right programme.

Thanks, will have a look at the options via the link for strength training as that's what I'm most bored with! Re. cardio, I find that ok I guess but always good to improve. I use a Fitbit and a Tanita scale and the scale gives me my biological age. I was shocked to find that before I lost weight my age was 50 (I was 45 at…
