I have CKD for about 8 yrs. Good advice already given. But your doctor should be your primary go to for diet advice. I'm not on any special diet, my condition is stable & not that bad. Just a thought-I know it's not what you asked but things like bean or lentil burgers are easy to make & can be frozen so you have some on hand. Tons of recipes online.

Yes, That's what I did but as I remember it was 3 meals for 2 people so I ended up with 6 meals for the week. For me, it was a little much.

I tried purple carrot. Food & recipes were very fresh & good. Expensive though. It's vegan but take a look, if you're adventurous. I didn't continue because it was too much for a single person. I had too many leftovers.

I've been using Manitoba Harvest Hemp Pro 70. They claim it's a complete protein. 20 grams per serving. I use it in a smoothie with a tbl of cocoa, a banana & almond milk--can't even taste it & it mixes well. Vegan, which is important to me. The downside is the price & it's only available in an expensive health food store…

Just a caution. Around here there are charities where volunteers will shop for handicapped & elderly people. So if you see a very well dressed person paying with a snap card--hold the criticism please. There have been occasions when a volunteer got flack from people in line.

I haven't read all posts yet so I don't know if this has been addressed. A lot of products have been altered so that certain weedkillers can be used without killing the plant. (Roundup) This means we can pour more chemicals into the environment. I can't believe this will ultimately prove beneficial. I was raised on a farm.…

It's the pred!! But you are doing really well. Just be patient & keep doing what you doing. I found my appetite had no brake--I could eat a full meal & it was like I had nothing. Pred is the drug we love to hate. It can work miracles, but the side effects are outrageous.

My husband is a meat eater too & it is challenging. The freezer is your friend. I make a lot of double recipes & freeze a lot. Soups, rice, veggie burgers freeze well. Otherwise I'd be cooking for hours. The happy herbivores group will be a help.
