My husband, 12-year old son and I just took a road trip that rounded out at 3,300 miles. I packed baby carrots, cut-up strawberries, cut up cheese, granola bars, salsa with beans, hard boiled eggs and sandwich supplies. I found the trick was preparing the produce ahead of time to make it easy to eat - i.e cutting up the…

Do you wear high heels either the day of or the day before your workout? I do not get cramps in my calves; however, I will them in my feet if I am wearing heels that day. One workout/judo days, I try to make sure I wear flats to work and that seems to help.

Same here. I have been maintaining for a little less then a year. I keep my cals set at 1600, but in reality I eat closer to 1900/2000 cals per day. I think if I had my cals set to my TDEE, it would be easier for me to think a few extra hundred cals per day on a regular basis do not matter. I have a little bit of wiggle…

Thanks all. I didn't really expect that I would feel exhausted afterwards, but I was not sure what I would feel..if that makes sense. I guess then as long as I am close to failure in the final reps, then I am pushing hard enough. It seems like it is a change in mindset - going from mainly cardio to lifting.

Thanks Steve. I feel good after weight sessions but not tired at all. That makes sense that AllPro starts off easy and gets harder as you go. In the coming weeks, I might feel it a bit more. Tonight's Judo session was nearly all randori at about 20% all - which is what inspired my question. After not even giving my…

Amazing results! Congratulations! :flowerforyou:

Thanks all. I appreciate the feedback. It makes sense that with proper form and appropriate weight levels it strengthens your back, but I just wanted some reassurance before getting into it.

In for the results..Once I get equipment, I plan on starting Stronglifts.

"Christina - You're looking so fit!" this came from a friend of mine while we were at a clothing swap. And it was simply awesome.

Fantastic results! You look wonderful :)

I started when I was a kid but stopped when I hit about 18/19 years old - life got in the way. That is also when I started gaining weight. When I decided to get my butt back in shape last year, I knew that judo needed to be a part of it. I had lost most my weight when I finally went back...And oh man, did I realize how…

Oreo...Oreo...Oreo (insert chanty voice) Congrats to you on your success and finding a balance. :flowerforyou:

Hey there - I want to start a lifting program as well but without access to a gym, I thought an adjustable weight dumbbell set would be a good alternative. Check out the link below. It gives some good information on how to adapt barbell programs to dumbbells. I have not started yet - I need to get my weights ;) But I will…

Ohhh, spreadsheet....now you've got me! I'll check them out.

Thanks Cupcake! I appreciate all of the insight. I have been toying with starting lifting for a while now...but I was feeling discouraged because of the lack of gym access. I feel like this is something I can do. I have not read any of the books mentioned above - I have just seen them cited on the forums. I will order…

Thanks for the feedback! Which program did you prefer? NROLFW or AllPro? Did you feel like you made good progress using dumbbells with these programs?

I want to start a lifting program but I do not have access to a gym. I also enjoy being able to work out at home. Given my economic and space constraints, I think investing in adjustable weight dumbbells might be a good alternative. So here are a couple of questions... 1) I have no experience with weight lifting other then…

Wow! Sounds like you have some great results! Over the summer, I did feel a difference. I know if I stick with it, I will see some change. Thanks for sharing!

I can definitely see a difference in your pics! Hmm, I might look into getting the DVD's. I guess I get bored with looking at the book and going back to the DVD. Do you have any equipment for pull exercises?

Yay! I am happy you decided to go. I have been boarding for about 4 seasons or so now and I love it. I have seen people of all weights, sizes and fitness levels on the hills. When you get there, they will take you to the bunny hills to learn (low sloped hills). And trust me, gravity works regardless of your weight. You…

Thank you so much. When I first started, I was very inspired by the success stories on here. There were real people make real changes, not just diet ads. Seeing all of the losses and determinations of everyone on here, regardless of their fitness level, made me feel like I could do it too. I still feel inspired when I read…

Thanks all! I appreciate all of the kind words :blushing: I feel so much better about myself, both physically and in my confidence level.

Well done, sir

Thanks all. It feels great. I went snowboarding for the first time this season on Saturday and the difference from last year was amazing! I could actually bend over to adjust my bindings without my snow pants digging into my gut ;) @120LNB - I am 5' 4"

Eat chocolate ;) I like Equal Exchange Spicy Hot Cocoa. I have that with with whole milk and it comes out to 220 cals. The spiciness and the richness of the milk make it very satisfying.

Thank you for posting this! I am down 25 lbs and at a weight that I am very comfortable with. Beside becoming a healthier me, 2013 was a huge year in so many more ways. I completed two very big work projects, finished course work for my Master's Degree and celebrated my 15 year anniversary with my boyfriend. Getting in…

Thanks, I have always loved the water! For some reason, I find being 15-20 feet below the surface peaceful. But it's not for everybody.
