  • I like all of the chocolate Fairlife and Fairlife Core Power shakes. Nonweight loss secret to them though, I still work them into my calories. They work with a handful of crudités if I decide to eat lunch.
  • I'd also suggest ordering curbside pickup for your groceries. It eliminates a huge amount of impulse shopping. I find it also saves a good bit of money because you can have carts going at multiple stores and compare prices. Even if you don't comparison shop like that, just skipping the unnecessary "bargains" and impulse…
  • I'll be following along with this. I carry so much tension in my body it is physically painful to be touched more often than not. I use a massage gun and a posture board when I think of it. I've tried to like yoga, but being still, quiet, and awake all at the same time is rough--my body thinks if I'm laying down, I should…
  • I’d also add that checking off what you ate is a pretty frequent request on this board and the response is essentially the same every time. I’m sure it could be useful to some people, but it doesn’t sound like it’s on the radar to be added to the app, at least based on the bot-like responses to the suggestion so far.
  • There are lots of outdoor things going on in Colorado for sure. But just as much is the general culture of activity. I have friends that basically don’t use cars in the nicer months—just walk or ride bikes wherever they’re going. A lot of restaurants and shops have bike racks out front. I have two grocery stores, a drug…
  • I think the MFP-type of environment sometimes leads people to let their internet guards down. I don't think most people would go on Facebook and ask all the people to "friend" them, but we see it every hour on MFP. Part of it is that MFP creates a bit of a microcosm--specialty boards like this do create a sense of…
  • I think we're probably talking about degrees and semantics when it comes to discomfort, or perhaps to the tolerance of discomfort. My takeaway from the post above is that unless you are actively miserable and suffering, then you simply aren't learning and growing as a person. I see it as more of a spectrum, if anything.…
  • I think "comfort is the enemy" is a pretty loaded catch phrase. Kind of like "body positivity" is. For me, I think the word "enemy" is a bit strong and turns me off the sentiment. I just picture some red-faced roided out bro bellowing spittle in my face. Probably singing the praises of 75 Hard or something. It's a very…
  • There are certainly a few places you could probably painlessly drop some calories from that, but it also might not be that bad. What is your calorie goal for the day? Is breakfast usually your big meal? For me, 500-600 calories is a happy breakfast. But, I have a 1700 calorie budget and breakfast has typically been the…

  • If binging is how you cope with life, there's probably something to that. Cortisol can cause water retention. I'm not sure how quickly cortisol builds up and causes that reaction, though.
  • The best time to work out is when you'll actually do it. If you know your schedule is already crazy in the morning, don't try and work out in the morning. If you're worn out and wrecked at the end of the day, don't try and work out in the evening. Getting it done is what matters, not what time you do it.
  • My favorite way to say it is “It can go to waste, or it can go to waist!”
  • The only qualification it takes to be an “influencer” is a phone camera and an internet connection. If people mistake that for some kind of professional expertise, they have a bigger problem than wanting to lose a few pounds.
  • We even (technically) got snow in West Texas!
  • 90% of bald men still own a comb. They just can’t part with it.
  • And yet it's been verified twice <eye roll> Once just a couple of months ago!
  • When you import a recipe, you still need to verify the individual ingredient entries. MFP is a crowd-sourced database and inaccuracies abound. It can be users entering only what's relevant to them, or alternatively a change in the formulation or recipe by a manufacturer. Just as an example, back in the day there was a…
  • Honestly, it’s not even one day at a time, it’s one decision at a time. One little step. There are days when making sure I balance my plate and have a fruit or vegetable—just that—is a huge achievement. Don’t look at the hole you have to dig out of, focus on that next shovelful of dirt and you’ll get there in the end.
  • Your body counts the calories even if you don’t. When I log, it’s every single bite, lick, or taste no matter what color or food group it is.
  • Holy guacamole! Is a Vons like a Whole Foods? An 18 count of cage free brown eggs is $8 plus there’s a dollar off coupon this week at my Kroger grocery. (It sounds so bougie, but all eggs in Colorado are required to be cage free)
  • I'd be very careful relying on MFP to track micros. Users entering foods may not care about details beyond calories and *maybe* macros. Food labels also may or may not have the information about things like potassium or B vitamins. Cronometer is used instead of MFP by a lot of people wanting to focus on the micros. I…
  • From what it sounds like, scammers are the only people sending friend requests any more. There’s virtually no functionality to the “friends” function other than being able to see the food diary of people that have their privacy set to only allow friends to see the diary and to be able to send private messages to each…
  • What did you have for breakfast before you started dieting? I'd end up in jail with a case of the hangries if I just had a shake for breakfast. Do you usually skip breakfast? If you're used to eating actual food for breakfast, a little coffee and protein shake is just going to be a cruel joke. If you usually skip breakfast…
  • I wouldn’t find that particularly meaningful. Plus, as others have mentioned, I can’t imagine how MFP would gather and manage individual item prices every day for every grocery store in every country where there are MFP users. MFP doesn’t even curate the database they already have, adding an even larger, more dynamic…
  • I drink the Fairlife Corepower drinks most days. They're whey based, but that’s never been a problem for me to digest. I just like the convenience - a drink and a piece of fruit or some veggies and dip make a good lunch for me. This brand in particular has managed to eliminate the gritty whey taste that most shakes seem to…
  • To earn calories, exercise needs to be entered in the cardio category, regardless of the type of exercise. From there, I just suggest breaking whatever exercise you do down to its most basic type. Strength training instead of bench press. Calisthenics instead of HIIT. That sort of thing. For time-based entries, include the…
  • I have no particular thoughts one way or the other. They’re a great tool for a lot of people and they get good results. Personally, I wouldn’t touch them with a 100 foot pole. One of the well-known side effects is gastroparesis (paralysis of the stomach). I’ve had gastroparesis in the past and it was absolutely hellish. I…
  • Keto gives me terrible gastrointestinal effects. Fasting makes me grumpy, so why would I make myself suffer? Misery burns no calories. I lost 60 pounds counting calories. Maintained that loss counting calories. No gimmicks needed.
  • If you want to use the friend feature, why are you not just sending out requests yourself? I don’t know of many people using that feature or accepting friend requests any more, but if it’s important to you, then perhaps direct action might be more satisfying for you.
  • I've had the MIND diet recommended to me by a couple of my providers. It's a combination of the Mediterranean and DASH diets that has been shown to promote brain health and lower the odds of experiencing cognitive decline. I've found it a little challenging to stick to because I just don't do enough advance meal planning…
