  • Weigh the finished dish and make the total your number of servings. Then weigh your portions as you go and just enter the number of grams as the number of servings in your food diary.
  • @DVDBEASTMODE - I just wanted to commend your dedication in posting to this thread. I'm not big on pain and tears as motivation, but I really admire how you've stuck to posting here. The Motivation section isn't the busiest board, but you've really done a great job being consistent and cheering people on!
  • How are your estimating skills? You could treat dinner on nights your partner cooks kind of like eating out. Ask for sauce on the side, estimate the size of the protein or else take a peek and see how much is being cooked in total and estimate your serving from there. For example, if they use a 1 pound package of hamburger…
  • If you have a smart phone, use the browser there to try logging in. I gave up on the MFP app years ago because it was so glitchy, at least at the time, and I use Safari on my phone to log in. I pretty much just use the forums at this point, so not sure it would work for the dashboard, but I don't know why it wouldn't.
  • I have holders for my Fitbit Inspire 3 that let it clip to my pants or bra when I don't want to wear it on my wrist. A quick Amazon search says they have ankle bands for the Inspire 3 as well.
  • I'd take a look at what's behind your cravings. Are you bored? Are you over-restricting your calories until your appetite takes over? Are you stressed out? Are you getting enough sleep? Identify why you're having these cravings and then you can make strategies ahead of time to avoid them.
  • Doesn’t the complete diary button just generate a post on your newsfeed? I’m guessing you wouldn’t see anything popping up if there’s no more newsfeed.
  • I'm pretty much just an omnivore. Keto upsets my stomach. Vegan has never appealed. Med requires more domestic labor than I would ever, ever commit to food. So I just eat a little of everything. I haven't tracked calories for a few months now, so no idea what my macros are, I just know I'm feeling good. I've lost about 10…
  • I put about 8 oz of oat milk in a blender bottle, add a couple of scoops of some collagen protein I’m trying to use up and dump the oat shake package into the milk, shake it up, and let it sit in the fridge overnight. I like it a little looser so it’s easier to drink in the car, but you can adjust the milk to your…
  • I order the Oats Overnight shake mixes. I just soak a packet overnight in a cup of oat milk and it’s ready to go in the morning. It would probably cost the earth to get all the little goodies they put in there. They have chia seeds and things like that mixed in, plus a huge variety of flavors.
  • Then it’s even more telling that you’ve all disappeared from posting.
  • I think there’s more of a social skew towards a skipping breakfast approach. Many people find dinner to be a more social meal. At least for me, I go out to dinner with friends and almost never breakfast, even though I far prefer to eat a large breakfast and don’t care much about dinner at all. If you adopt IF as a…
  • Carbs fill me up, protein keeps me full and fat as necessary. My go-to breakfast lately is an oatmeal shake with sous-vide egg bites and a small apple on the side. I don’t eat lunch usually, but make myself have veggies with some kind of dip in the afternoon and then some kind of protein, veg and starch for dinner. Very,…
  • My impression is that he's a fraud with a supplement to sell. I found zero references in his articles -- peer-reviewed or not. I would have expected to see some kind of citation about why certain micronutrients are thought to be effective in supplementing thyroid function, for example. Or some kind of evidence of the…
  • But did we honestly think they would? Maybe I'm just jaded, but they are in the business of making money, actual people aren't part of the equation.
  • The shopping app that I use to order groceries has a running list of everything I’ve bought, so no need for an another app to tell me what it thinks I need. I just click on what needs restocking.
  • The smith machine forces you into an unnatural pattern of movement. It forces a straight vertical movement pattern when our bodies just don't move that way. I used to think it was a safer way to go from a spotting standpoint as well, but would repeatedly end up with a tweaked back and knees because I wasn't really using…
  • I've been wondering that too. Has anyone else noticed that the bots that used to come through the Feature Suggestions and Tech Support boards don't seem to be around lately? None of the "Great idea! I'll pass it on to the team!" and the "Apologies, please contact support" messages are popping up like they usually do. Makes…
  • I was just checking on the iPhone App Store out of curiosity and pretty much the only recent reviews there now are 5 stars and not one mentions the newsfeed, only the barcode scanner moving to Premium. Interesting.
  • Total carbs is the MFP default setting. You would need to have a premium membership and specifically changed the settings to get to net carbs. I've never paid for premium so I don't know the breadcrumbs to get there, but you'd basically go back to where you chose net carbs and then just change it back.
  • Lunges give me a screaming pain in my knees. I've never been able to push through the pain and do them regularly. I do split squats instead when I can get the positioning just right. Otherwise they're as painful as lunges.
  • It would be interesting to know how many of the "not many" users of Newsfeed were free vs. premium users. Are there plans for it to come back as a "premium" feature?
  • Too bad I didn't see this earlier. I recently disposed of probably a 100 or more of my dad's diet cookbooks. Zone and South Beach were the top contenders :D I would have happily sent them to a new home instead of the dumpster!
  • Not necessarily. Other than maybe a calorie or two of differences due to rounding, macros have calories and the macro distribution will correlate to the number of allotted calories. A gram of carbohydrates has 4 calories, whether you're choosing broccoli or cotton candy. Fat has 9 calories per gram whether it's lard or an…
  • I think whether you find officially-sanctioned marriage desirable or not is largely up to your religion and culture. Both of which are evolving at crazy-making rates, so acting on the proscriptions of those areas is not only deeply personal, but also likely reflective of the time period you got married (or didn't). I…
  • I know people always talk about soda being full of sodium, but just to provide some perspective, Coke Zero has 40mg of sodium per 12-oz serving. The World Health Organization seems to be the most conservative resource and advises consuming less than 2000mg of sodium per day. Of course there are cases where sodium needs to…
  • If your weight training and walking also began two weeks ago, you're probably retaining a good bit of water for muscle repair. That can easily mask fat loss.
  • MFP was acquired by a venture capital firm a few years ago. The “money grab” is MFP’s entire usefulness to their portfolio.
  • I have dinner around 9 or 9:30 most nights and never had a problem losing or maintaining as long as my total calories are on point.

  • You should enter everything in a recipe individually to get the calorie count. MFP is a crowdsourced database and people can literally enter whatever they want. That pretty much makes it impossible to know what the cooking method was, the cut of meat , how much salt or oil, what else might have been in it. You're far…
