  • Thanks for reaching out! I can always use extra support and motivation...you'd think that in my mid-40's after trying every diet known to mankind, I'd have it figured out. Clearly that hasn't happened because I still struggle. I am looking forward to walking this journey with you.
  • Feel free to add me as a friend! I can use all the motivation to stay on track that I can get. I get over-loaded with stress from my job and all I want to do is go face-down into a plate of pasta.... Can definitely use some motivation from others when I want to eat from emotions and not from hunger!
  • I have to say that the entire month of February makes me overeat. Locked in cold weather, don't get much sunshine or daylight, January is over and the attitude of "new year, new goals" is over...Totally emotional eating.
  • Love that! I just downloaded a meditation app to my phone. I figure that if I can close my eyes for 15 minutes and re-group, then maybe I can make it another 45 minutes without going to the vending machines, fridge, etc when I'm just not hungry. I totally lost it last week for about two days, but I think I've re-grouped.…
  • Best of luck to you on the New Healthier You! I can imagine how hard it was to make that first step after "being off your routine" and having gained 70 lbs. I will cheer for you along the way as you start this journey toward a healthier life. For me -- it was seeing a picture of me in some shorts and a t-shirt. I thought,…
  • Wow -- those are all really good suggestions. I, too, have read that sugar substitutes just make you continue to crave sugar. That's why people who drink a lot of diet soda can't lose weight because their body still craves sugar. I like the idea of trying to find good food substitutes for sugary foods. Another article I…
  • Wow -- you're in a tough spot. Although I'm not in a situation like yours currently, I have been. My suggestion to you is this: Look at your life as it is and determine what are the things you can control and what you can't. You can't control your husband or his reactions to anything. You CAN control how you respond to him…
  • Welcome! I'm relatively new as well...but I love this site and have found some great support from friends! Feel free to add me as a friend -- I have a pretty sedentary job as well, but am a committed exerciser. Unfortunately, I"m also a committed emotional-eater...thus the reason for me being on this site. Good…
  • Another thing to look at -- in addition to all of the really good advice above (foam roller, scheduled rest, running heel toe, strengthening the muscles in your shin, etc)-- is to shorten your running stride length. Longer strides increase the stress/strain on your shins and simply taking shorter steps alleviates that.…
  • Hello DajohnOv -- I'm realtively new to this site as well. I started shortly after the first of the year...I don't know all of the tools yet, but I DO know that I've enjoyed the friends and support I'm getting. So -- feel free to "friend" me and I'll definitely be there to support you on your journey. I am such an…
  • Yep -- I exercise every morning at either 5:15am or 5:30am -- MST. I go to some classes that start at that time. Love early mornings -- nothing every conflicts with my schedule at that time. I have no excuses to keep me from it. Of course I have to go to bed early -- THAT can be hard!
  • I was at a training two years ago where the woman mentioned that when she did something really challenging and totally out of her comfort zone (bungee jumping!!!) -- she found success in other areas of life ("If I can bungee jump from 200 feet up, I can make this call to this difficult client."). Someone mentioned in an…
