I have a suggestion: When people go in for this surgery, cut out their tongue instead. There. Now let's see you stuff yourself because it tastes good. Much cheaper, too, in both the long and short term. I swear, some people can be roped into any magic cure, and some greedy f*cks are always there to sell them one.

I once knew a girl that had a feeding tube installed in her stomach and would use it like this. Yup. Real healthy.

I think the disconnect here is that the previous poster is thinking of bodyfat% alone as the important number here, and not the actual lean mass as separate consideration from bf% Basically: High bf%=bad High lean mass=good Low bf%=good Low lean mass=bad. Just as BMI alone is not an accurate measure of health or fitness,…

Doing pretty much all of this except getting the slight surplus, so I'll probably need to add that in after I've tracked this for a few more weeks and I'm sure of my TDEE. Yes, I misspoke - water-weight from glycogen, water weight from extra carbs, water weight from extra sodium, probably a few other factors as well, but…

Taking this advice here. I'm not obligated to explain myself any further to those who just want to argue for the hell of it.

Side note, has anyone noticed how terrible Bob Harper looked? Looked like he had a massive hangover or something. Wonder what's up there...

I like the way you think.

And, for the record, I could probably be very happy with 23% bodyfat if I had more lean mass. It's not that I want to be, like 10% or something. Ideally, I'd be 18-20% and just have a good deal more muscle mass.
-
Oh, absolutely. And as a former bodybuilder, you probably have quite a bit of lean mass to spare that I personally didn't. I definitely didn't mean to offend those who's goals include cardio or exclude lifting for reasons of medical problems or having different goals. Sorry if it came off that way. <3

That's what I'm doing. But hopefully, some of those in my former mindset will read this and make their own journeys much easier and more enjoyable. I'm not just b*tching to b*tch. Just trying to put it out there that excessive cardio + undereating = a frail, weak, squishy body.

Okay, one more time here: I'm upset because almost half the weight I lost was muscle. If I had maintained most of my lbm from before, I could have stopped losing weight at a much HIGHER weight, been a healthy body-fat percentage, and generally not abused my body. Now, instead of being at a place where I can maintain, say,…

Thanks for putting this out there for those that are asking what the big deal is. I'm in recovery from an eating disorder, and telling me there's nothing wrong with how I did things is very triggering. It's a huge help to have affirmation that I did, in fact, screw up, and need to do this the right way now.
-
But losing 27 pounds of lean mass is not. That's why an athlete and a model can have the same bf%, but look very different. I look frail and sickly, not strong, and that's what I'm upset about.

Man, this is the third forum topic I've killed in the last couple of days, and I started it!

My bf is transgendered and uses these as part of his hormone treatment. Unless you want a deeper voice and facial hair, I'd advise against it.
-
Yeah, thanks! I've mostly been doing it like that, but I haven't been keeping my knees quite so bent at the top.
-
No, he saw that it was out on the counter and asked if I drank it, and explained what it was. I was irked then. I was furious about 6 hours later.

My bf had a box of this that a buddy gave him as a joke. I didn't know what it was. I thought, "Ballerina tea! How charming! Must taste delicate and lovely. I'll have a cup!" I like my tea STRONG. I was not happy.

A little off topic, but thank you for this wonderful explanation! I've never see glycogen storage/depletion explained so clearly, but precisely.

bump for delicious!

Thank you. *sniffle*

*whines* It's noooooooot the saaaaaaame! I like moving heavy stuff. *pouts forever* But really, that's a good idea to keep me from feeling idle, and but still, I'm hooked on lifting, and I nothing else measures up anymore.
-
Some great ideas there, thanks! I don't have any problem with fruits - I love fruits. It's just veggies I have a problem with.
-
That's a pretty good idea! I did some googling and found this recipe which uses half potatoes and half cauliflower. I think I'll try it next time I make mashed potatoes at home! http://thechiclife.com/2011/06/sneaky-mashed-potatoes-with-a-hidden-cauliflower-serving.html

If you really want to burn cals, get into Sadie's drum solo DVDs. VERY difficult, but once you get the moves down, it's a great workout.

Arabic bellydance!

from a person to a sex-act ^I was moving this to a different section of a facebook argument I was having about why it's detrimental to the gay community for gay people to act flamboyantly. The original comment was, "It's the "us vs. them" thing that bothers me, and I think it would be a much easier world for LGBT people,…

Beat me to it!

If dairy is your concern, there are plenty of vegetable-based spreads - many of which are lower-calorie as well. Just stay far away from anything hydrogenated. If you don't mind a bit of dairy, Brummel and Brown (?) makes a yogurt-based spread which is delicious and 50 cals/TBSP.

For what it's worth (and I know this thread is quite old, so you may not see it) but my bf has transitioned quite successfully without T. He uses a combo of chromium picolinate, Tonalin CLA (safflower oil), and DHEA, all in fairly small doses, eats a well-rounded diet, and lifts. Even though he's on the shorter side (5'6),…
