Morning Marla! Glad to hear it's going well. Jeanne

All right, I'll over myself up as an example. I think I understand a little bit about what you're feeling. My guess is that it's not so much your age as that you haven't been able to successfully maintain a weight loss. You're wondering if, after all these years, it just isn't going to happen for you. I wondered the same…

My goal is to get to bed earlier at night so that I'm not so tired and sleepy during the day. In bed, lights out, by midnight every night for 100 nights. Jeanne

I've maintained a healthy BMI for over a year now - the longest I've ever gone in my life. The way I see it is: 1. I've got sixty years of bad habits to overcome. That's not going to happen in three years. I'm going to give it 30 years and then see. 2. The easiest person in the world to lie to and to fool is yourself.…

Thank you all so much for the positive feedback! I've received a lot of friend requests which puzzled me because I have this statement on my profile: **I'm rather Internet shy so I don't accept friend requests from people whom I do not know. You're welcome to respond to me on the forums!** But I checked my privacy settings…

There was another recent MFP thread about the "double belly". It's good to know that we're not alone! http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/621424-the-double-belly-ugh

Honestly, I don't think your problem is motivation. I believe you are plenty motivated enough. I read through some of your previous posts and you discussed control issues. So here's my suggestion: Start by committing to logging in everything you eat today. It doesn't matter how many calories you're eating or what you're…

To be as fit and healthy a year from now as I am today and to reach that same goal every year for the rest of my life. Anything else will just be extra.

I think it's also called a B-shaped belly - because from the side your stomach is the shape of the letter "B". I'm sorry to say, though, that, fat or slim, I've had this all my life. The above the belly button roll decreases but has never gone away. Now I have a lot of loose skin, above and below. I've always hated having…

Congratulations on your success! You do look wonderful - so healthy and happy! You say you're re-evaluating what "goal" should be. Here's my two cents worth: make your goal to be as healthy, fit and active a year from today as you are now. If you make all your choices based on that goal, then you'll have doubled your…

Hi, I'm 60. I started MFP two and a half years ago. The first year I lost 67 pounds and the second 28. I've been pretty much the same weight for the last six months. I had one goal when I started: to not gain the weight back. I figured out how much I wanted to weigh, how much I could eat to maintain that weight and that…

Actually, I'd say: Don't look forward. Yeah, you're going to feel great and happy when you reach your desired weight. But the thrill of those feelings doesn't last. Eventually, you feel pretty ordinary - up some days, down others. The compliments stop, you wear the same clothing in the same sizes, some days you feel pudgy,…

I just want to thank you for joining MFP and sharing your story. I also read your story on the Atkins website. I like how you talk about baby steps and taking one day at a time. After 26 months on MFP, I've become convinced that what hinders people the most is setting too high or stringent goals for themselves. A goal of…

I have only one true goal - to not gain the weight back! I'm 5'6" and I've been at 147 for two months now. My dream goal would be to be at 135 and have a 135-139 range to bounce around in. But I won't do anything different that might trigger gaining any weight. So I'm learning to be happy at this weight. I don't think I…

Thank you for posting this! I joined two years ago and I read your posts over and over again that first year. I remember this being one of your messages and it's helped me organize my thinking during my first year. I've lost 95 pounds now and I'm slowly easing into "maintenance." In truth, I don't believe in maintenance -…

Tami, You continue to inspire me! Thank you so much for staying on MFP during maintenance, for logging in every day, for showing those of us who are down at or near where we want to be that it IS possible to keep the weight off. And an extra thank-you for sharing that it's hard. You are as beautiful in your actions and…

You look terrific and what's even better - you took the right road and will stay being healthy and beautiful! Congratulations!

Thank you all for the compliments! And congratulations to all of you and especially to all who have lost weight. Whether it's one pound or one hundred pounds, what matters is that you're here, watching what you eat, getting some exercise and determined to change. You should all feel some pride. I don't say that lightly.…

Nothing is as sexy and attractive as healthy looking! Congratulations! And I love that skirt and boots!

I've gone through many major weight loss and regain periods in my life. When I started MFP two years and 94 pounds ago, my only goal was to not gain the weight back. I've worked hard to try and figure out why I gained the weight back in the past and how I was going to avoid it this time around. I agree with most of what…

Yes, I'm logging. I spent years, decades even, lying to myself about how much I was eating, thinking my clothes were shrinking and then getting depressed about having to buy larger sizes. When I started MFP, I swore to give up lying. If I eat it, I log it, to the best of my ability. I've logged through Thanksgiving,…

Hi, I've been on MFP for almost two years now. I've lost 94 pounds. If you read my profile or my blog, you'll see that I've been thinking about how not to regain the weight back for every single one of those days and pounds. It's been my only goal. It was easy two years ago to think that determination and…

I'll rather log in every single morsel that goes in my mouth for the rest of my life than gain back one single pound of the 93 it's taken me almost two years to lose. Logging in is nothing compared to how old, sick and tired I felt two years ago. Your mileage may vary but I'm not taking any chances.

I'm in favor of not telling him right away. Although with such a great accomplishment, I can see that eating right and exercise would be a big part of your dating conversation. What you have to answer for yourself with all new people you meet is: When you think of what your initial first impression, what do you think: I am…

Your success shows that you have it exactly right. It's all about today - what, why, how you eat today, how you move today, how you think today. Let tomorrow worry about itself. I say this is more than a lifestyle change - it's a mindset transformation. You are not the person you were, you are the person you want to be. I…

I think it depends on your weight history and eating personality. If you're someone who grew up healthy sized and active, who hasn't struggled with weight loss and gain in the past, then you may be a healthy-sized eater to begin with who is just returning to your roots, so to speak. But lots of us are attracted to…

Andrew, I just had to bump this up. I think this is one of the most important posts I've ever read on MFP. We're all so absorbed in losing the weight, high on success when we do, that we forget that the most important task is to not gain it back. Thinking about that feels like thinking about failure and we shy away from…

LOL. I knew what you meant :-) But I did appreciate the "Fabulous" ! And you are my inspiration for hard work and determination. BTW, I love your new profile photo. Your arms rock!

Thanks Tami. That means a lot coming from you.

I turn 60 this year. I've been on MFP since Dec 2009. I log everything I eat, I do an hour of cardio exercise six days a week and I only occasionally go over my calorie limit. I'm losing weight at a slower pace than I did when I was younger but I've lost quite a bit. (I'm two pounds away from my first big goal so I'm…
