Congratulations! As always, YOU, more than your accomplishments, are my inspiration. Your persistence, your commitment and your patience are the qualities I'm working on. I really appreciate that you share that it isn't easy for you either. Four pounds means that you are within your maintenance range. Everything you do now…

The honesty of the posts on this thread is what I like best about MFP and it's the honesty that makes the difference between success and not-success.

Congratulations! Your photos look terrific. I read through your posts on MFP and I was really impressed with your persistence. I wish you the best of success on your goals!

Wow, we've all been there. Some of us more than once (twice, three times, beyond counting...:ohwell: ) You've already taken the most important step which is being honest with yourself. And the second step which is admitting to others you've stumbled and asking for help. It sounds like you've weighed yourself - that's a…

Your last line holds the key: I want to change how i look and....most importantly...I want to change the way I feel about myself by the time i turn 30! You've set yourself some high goals - nothing wrong with that - but you've set them all at once! You need to dial it down and give yourself some room for success. Start…

What a great site! Now, do I have the courage to submit my own photo??

This IS a very interesting discussion. I am a "fast loser". I've lost 50+ pounds in less than a year at least a half-dozen times in my life. I lost fast because I didn't cheat, didn't ever let myself splurge and exercised rigorously. I always ate a healthy low-fat diet. I felt great when I reached goal and I was always…

Ok, I'm probably going to sound old-fashioned, out of touch and fuddy-duddy here but where did this idea come from that a wedding is the bride's "special day?" When I got married, oh so many years ago, all I wanted was the people I loved and who loved me, to be there to celebrate the major commitment that my husband and I…

I am so impressed that you're acknowledging how you're eating right now when you're going through so much stress. That you can be so upfront and open about it shows that you have changed in a significant way despite how you're eating at the moment. Eating in secret or silence and refusing to be honest to ourselves and to…

Well, I'm old enough that forever isn't as long as it used to be  I've lost and gained and lost and gained and lost and .... so many times that I've lost track. When I'm at goal (or close to it), something always happens - an illness, death in the family, get pregnant, lose a job, start a job, start school,…

Thank you so much for coming back and letting us know that long-term success is possible! It's the greatest message you could give. I'm still campaigning on MFP for a separate board to talk about Maintenance. Please take a moment and add your vote: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/103883-maintenance-board .

I took a look at your diary. I think you're starving your body of the calories and nutrients that it needs. Your body is resisting losing weight because too few calories are coming in compared to the amount of calories being used up in your exercise. I know that we hear this all the time: that losing weight is a matter of…

Thank you for telling this story. You've made it crystal clear what all this effort is really about. Your children won't have to tell the same story about you and I'm sure that is making your Mom very proud.

I liked #4 as well but I go even further. I'm working very hard to change my thinking about eating because I've gained weight back so many times. One determination that I've made is to not view anything I eat as a "slip-up" if I go back to my regular eating with the next meal or next day. As #3 said, this is a launching…

Yeah, that's my goal too! To see something cute and if the store doesn't have a size that fits me, it's THEIR problem, not mine.
-
I posted a request on the Request Board for a separate Maintenance Board. I think it would help if anyone who is also interested could post a confirming reply there as well. Thanks.
-
You look great! Even more impressive, I read through a lot of your posts and your slow approach into maintenance has been very inspiring to read. I'm hoping that you'll keep posting now that you're fully on maintenance. IMHO, the hardest part of this journey is the goal and I've yet to learn how to stay there despite…

Having used healthy diets and exercise to get down to my goal weight and then regained it all back and having done this more times than I can remember for 40 years, I have to shout out a "YES" that it is harder to maintain the weight loss than it is to lose it. You hardly ever hear about this on any of the diet programs,…

I see by your ticker that you lost the last five pounds and I just wanted to say congratulations! On one of your other posts, you said that this is not the first time that you've lost a lot of weight. I, too, have been back and forth on this road more than once (or twice or thrice or...). My first and foremost goal this…

I just want to add that I read that an online Weight Watcher's membership is $17.95/month. And we're getting MFP which, in my opinion, is just as good for free! (Well, we do have to look at the stupid cartoon of the fat lady getting skinny but that's easy to ignore after the umpteenth time :-)
-
On this my umpteenth time down a well-trodden, two way path, I am trying to focus on learning maintenance before I get there. So thank you for sharing your tips! I'm keeping a blog of stories people are telling about maintenance. You can see it in my signature.

Hi, I'm a long way from my goal weight but I've been at my goal weight and intermediate stops more than once. And I've lost 40+ or more to get there. I've always said that losing weight is a lot easier than not gaining weight. This time my goal is to focus on learning how to maintain before I get there. I don't have any…

Thank you so much for posting this! Your attitude is my goal - to be fit and healthy by exercising and eating right. The weight loss will (sometimes frustratingly slowly!) come eventually.

Oh, the tyranny of the scale. How addicted we are to that little jolt of pleasure when the scale numbers go down. How depressed we get when they don't, or worse, when they go up. I ask myself: why do I want to lose weight, really? I haven't told anyone (outside of a few weight loss group leaders) what I weigh in maybe…

Lol! I love how you put this! Congratulations!

PF Changs has their nutrition chart up on their website. Here it is: http://www.pfchangs.com/menu/NutritionalInfo.aspx It's not easy to read but when I did I was shocked! Of course, they play the "per serving" game - which is that the food all comes to you on one plate but their chart shows 3 or 4 servings per plate. That…

I believe that days like yours are critical for long term weight maintenance. In the past, I've lost weight on healthy diets where I never once went off the diet. But I arrived at my goal weight with no experience in being able to handle small temporary weight gains. The small weight gains kept adding up because I felt…
-
I'm slowly going "public" here and this post of yours has been the inspiration for the next step. My goal, as I lose weight, is to figure out how not to gain it back. You described very succinctly how the "gaining back" process starts. I admire your openness and I think it must help you to stop the "gaining back". So I've…

Wow. I'm very interested in hearing your story. Maintenance is my key concern this time around. I really want to hear how you maintained your weight loss for 11 years - that's very impressive. But even more impressive is what you're doing now - stopping your weight gain and getting back on track. Congratulations!
