  • Not long to go for you! That's great you can borrow a pool. I'm not sure yet if our's has one we can borrow but I hope so. I'm not due until July, we'll be having the pool in our conservatory so hopefully it will be warm regardless of what the lovely English summer weather decides to do. (most likely rain and be cold) I…

  • This sounds similar to what I had. The doctor did say that if the lump is easy to manipulate and move around, it is most likely benign. I hope you can see the doctor soon and get some reassurance.
  • About 5 years ago I found a significant sized lump in my underarm/ breast area. It didn't hurt but was visible when I laid on my size. I had it biopsied which was inconclusive and later had a lumpectomy. Thankfully once removed they were able to determine it was a benign fibroadanoma. I first noticed it about a year after…
  • Don't worry too much. I just saw my Endocrinologist this morning about my thyroid medication, and he said they don't really know a lot about how thyroid medication deprivation effects babies, as obviously it wouldn't be ethical to do a study on it. He said most likely the baby would take what it needed and leave mum…
  • I am! I'm convinced the train wreck that was my first pregnancy (massive weight gain) was due to ignoring the scales. I weighed half heartedly after 20 weeks and that is when I started packing on the weight. The midwives here never weigh you so that tells me how and when I gain weight isn't as crucial as we think it is. If…
  • I'm homing birthing too and really excited for you! Sounds like if things go to plan you will have an amazing birth! Have you thought of a birth pool or are you just going to do without? I've known people who've done both and were happy both ways. A few of my friends have homebirthed and have nothing but positive stories.…
  • Wow, what a story. I think you did a great job responding to all the different situations. It sounds like the doulas were a great help and you were a trooper. Congratulations on your baby girl!

Let just hope it's not 2 pounds a week from here on out! :)
  • I have one by Noppies, which is very figure hugging and a nude colour, so just right to wear under anything. They are pretty expensive new but I got mine off ebay for next to nothing. I would buy up a size or two for length though. It's figure hugging enough it won't make any difference if you size up.
  • I don't blame you for being angry! We do skin-to-skin here and I had my daughter in my arms and fed her before they ever took her for 5 minutes to weigh her! Husband had her for skin-to-skin while I got stitched but she was never out of my sight the whole time we were at the hospital. Even when I was having a bath hubby…
  • If I'm remembering correctly first time moms average labour time is 24 hours. You will have plenty of time to get to the hospital. Everyone's already listed the numerous reasons you don 't want a c-section unless you need to have one, but here's another. My sister had one and the epidural didn't work properly (not…
  • I feel you, I am 19 weeks tomorrow and have gone from being fine to being ravenous. I don't understand how I can eat so many calories and not be full. I know this is when my appetitie kicked in last time and I started gaining big time (probably had something to do with the snickers for breakfast, lunch, and dinner). I…
  • Is it definately only a choice between these two? Is there anyone else you can try to meet with who might be better? I know it's hard when you are so close. Regardless of who ends up delivering your baby, there is a lot that you yourself can do. Firstly remember that no one can do anything without your consent. You can…
  • I think you are definatley right in that everyone gains weight in pregnancy in different ways and a 'one size fits all' approach is really unhelpful. I've known people who gain it all at the beginning, all at the end, or steadily throughout. Personally with my first pregnancy I didn't gain much at all until 20 weeks, with…
  • I never had any (that I realised, anyway) with my first. I kept witing for them, but it never happened. Haven't had any with this pregnancy yet either (18 weeks).
  • Taking Vitamin B6 really helped me. Check with your doctor or midwife first but it should be fine.

I would like to ask the midwife about it but my next appointment isn't until the 28th of March! I have to keep reminding myself…
  • I was still down a few pounds from my starting weight at 15 weeks, but was already in maternity clothes. I think my hips spread a lot quicker the second time around! I have to drink a lot of water to stop the water retention.
  • Hi, My little girl is 4 and I'm 18 weeks with my second pregnancy. With number one I never excercised and pretty much ate whatever I wanted (Snickers for breakfast!). I put on 40 pounds, 37 of that in the last 20 weeks. I lost about 12 pounds in the first couple of weeks postpartum and pretty much hung out there until I…
  • I would think if you are gaining 1 pound a week after 20 weeks that is right on target. It should put you in the 25-30 pound range comfortably. I know I'm hoping for 5 pounds in the first 20 weeks and a pound a week average after that. So I think your calories are spot on. You can adjust them should you stop gaining or…
  • Just a thought but I have noticed I am not satisfied if I'm not eating enough fat. Protein is good for filling but you need healthy fats too to keep you satisfied. Try getting more calories from healthy fats and see if that helps.
  • I'm going to be a bridesmaid in June at 8 months and one week pregnant! Obviously not trying to lose weight but still tracking and excercising to keep my weight gain within the recommended 25-35 pounds. I went a bit overboard my first pregnany so trying to be careful this time. I'm also doing strength training to keep arms…
  • It's quite normal to loose some weight just before you go into labour. I don't think you are going to make it to 42 weeks! Hopefully we will see a birth announcement from you in the next few days. :)
  • Hello, please add me. I'm american but I live in the UK, so I should at least understand the vocabulary differences!
  • Ah, that's lovely about the ultrasound. It is such a relief to see a heartbeat, but I know the anxiety doesn't go away that easily. I'm still having crazy anxiety at 17 weeks when I can feel the baby kicking! Sounds like your hubby is good at the injections, it is best just to jab them in and get it over with. I didn't…

Despite several midnight snacks! TBH, I'm ready to start showing and putting on weight. The anxiety I've had with this pregnancy has really put a damper…
  • Hello, Yes, I do a Clexane injection everyday. I had 5 miscarriages due to a blood clotting disorder and so far the clexane seems to be doing the trick. I also take 150mg of aspirin a day too. Thankful I'm not squimish about it because my husband runs from the room whenever I'm about to do it. He's a wheeny. I haven't…
  • hope your time comes soon!
