To quote from that study: "Collectively, the findings imply that typical Western diets are likely to be significantly more insulinogenic than more traditional diets based on less refined foods. As observed in previous studies, consumption of protein or fat with carbohydrate in creases insulin secretion compared with the…
-
And why would you assume that? I read the whole thing. Did you?
-
In your first link, in the conclusion it states that when protein and fat are consumed with the addition of carbohydrates that there is always an increased insulin response. It therefore still confirms that consuming these items without carbohydrate is therefore going to cause a much smaller insulin response. No I do…
-
Your using whey protein as an example? Of course whey protein (assuming in powdered form) will raise insulin. That's the whold purpose of it being consumed in that form. Compare chicken to white rice and tell me it gives the same response?
-
Technically protein will not spike insulin to the same extent that consumption of a carbohydrate/sugar will. I don't think you can group the two together. A diabetic can consume a great deal more protein without a rise in blood sugars in comparison to carbohydrate. Lets remember a diabetic does not respond to insulin. The…

I agree, makes no sense to me. Our children aren't even allowed candy bars at school let alone sugary drinks. No fizzy drinks, no chocolate bars, no flavoured milk. Thankfully our children get a good start in life as far as school provisions go!
-
Protein is essential to the body.....aspartame is most definitely not! Nor are carbohydrates/sugar because the body creates it.
-
Ha ha sorry....I wrongly assumed that you lived in USA. No they aren't giving it to our children thank god!
-
That's both shocking and very sad to me. What chance to they have to grow up healthy when they are being taught at such a young age that its ok to consume high sugar products? They would be better not having it, they should pull it out of schools anyway and only give the option of plain milk. Milk is only free in schools…
-
They are giving it to your children!
-
They give flavoured milk out at school there? In UK it's only real milk.
-
Surely a diabetic shouldn't be consuming these items at all?
-
Agreed! .....doh I was heading to bed
-
It is BS that your government lies to you!

The longest trial being for five years with consideration to cancer but the other studies being over much shorter periods of time with much smaller groups of people? Forgive me if I'm wrong, I'm very tired but what if these tests were done over much longer periods of time? Look at all the drugs that were deemed safe after…

This ^^^^^ exactly this!!
-
Sorry...I meant what difference does it make whether they add one or the other. I don't see why they consider one to be worse than the other and therefore why restrict aspartame and not HFCS.
-
Quite honestly I can't see the point in restricting either, they shouldn't be making either product in the first place. Milk should be milk. If they are adding things then as long as its stated fully on the label then I don't see what difference it makes what they put in it. Aside from the fact that many people won't know…
-
And therefore you should respect mine as I respect yours.
-
I think that's a matter of opinion!
-
Yes we agree in that respect thou I still can not understand why anyone would consume it, I guess that's why a lot of people are on this site. Good luck with your journey :)
-
No not at all, thou I can't see why they add anything to it. If they put it in then they should state it, why restrict one and not the other. I never stated that one should be different to another. I merely pointed out that there is no need to add these things to it. Feel free to educate me as to why it needs to be in the…

Lol seriously? Ok well my windows are made out of plastic and my cabinets were here before I moved in. I do however have wooden cabinets in my kitchen because it might look a bit strange without them :p Look I am just somebody that cares, It's part of my job and why I do what I do. I also respect people's right to choose.…
-
Who said HFCS are acceptable??
-
Well just so happens I don't lol, however point taken but I wouldn't state that as "an improvement" Isn't that why we are on this site? Because we do care?
-
Nobody stated that their opinion was based on a few studies? And how is it irresponsible to state that I choose not to consume it? I didn't advise anyone else
-
I choose to not take the risk with my health. I respect your opinion but I know way to much about food politics to believe that it's safe.
-
You think a tree looks better as a desk? How can that be improvement? It's not improvement, it's destruction of our natural environment. No I don't why would I want to?
-
Actually penicillin comes from a fungi- I.e. it's origin is from nature. You can believe everything your government tells you, I choose to question their motives.
-
I was referring to food- that's what the thread is about? How can you take something that was created by nature and improve on it? Phones, cars etc weren't ever created by nature.
