I weighed yesterday as I knew 'd be going out for my birthday last night to carouse with friends. I ate a lot and imbibed a lot and make no apologies  but anyway I knew I'd be dealing with some post-celebration bloat this morning I'm going with yesterday. I was up a pound from that today but will wash that away with…

I am the biggest woman in my close circle of friends (heck, I suspect I might even have a couple pounds on the biggest guy, or close.) There is one other girl who is pretty big, the others are average to small. The other overweight gal and I did enjoy a sense of camaraderie of sorts... though I also suspect that she is…

I casually mentioned I was down 25 pounds to my mom and sister. Worst. Mistake. Ever. Mom just gave me a vague "Oh, Good for you," and my sister was polite but clearly did not believe me. When I saw my mom a few days later she was all, "Oh, wow! I can really tell a difference!" and trying to be all cheerleader, but that…

I'm about 5'1.5" and I am aiming for 125 pounds. I've never been a 'normal' weight since I was about 8, though, so I don't even know if that's right for me. And honestly, last time I weighed that much was Junior high! And I caught a lot of hell for it, since I hadn't really even reached my full height yet so at that weight…

I hear ya... it really bugs me how many packages are so vague. Why do we even care about the nutritional value of an unprepared food/mix/whatever? Who is eating this stuff dry? Or if you must, then please list BOTH prepared and un. Some of them don't. :grumble: I do agree, in this case just have the cupful and go by what…

I'm almost 30 pounds down but yeah, no, nothing here either. I'm pulling up some of my pants a little more often, but not all of them. I suspect it also may be due to the fact that they are older and pretty well-worn. The only real tangible proof that it is working is that I recently got a blood test and my bad numbers…

Ditto. It is really depressing that it doesn't really show yet. I can barely see it myself, maybe a little in my face but that's all. Other people can drop like 7 pounds and look terrific, I am pretty big and carry my weight "well", whatever that exactly means, but it also means a loss doesn't show until way into it.…

I have been home for nearly two years and I feel so much healthier mentally and emotionally... my job was sucking the life out of me. I've been SO grateful to be able to be there so much for my daughter, who is 12 and has some special needs (autism). She is in mainstream classes and very, very smart, but the seventh grade…

I agree... ketchup is particularly insidious. I'm so grateful my daughter doesn't care for it. When I think of all the zillions of children out there that love their ketchup and drowning their fries and such in it, I shudder. It's amazing to me how someone could take something as innocent and healthy as a tomato and turn…

I agree with everyone here who said you need to have some blood work. You need to find out what the hard cold numbers are. I was diagnosed with type 2 in December, and got serious right after the new year. I started logging everything, though aside from being mindful of my sugar and 'white' carb intake I didn't make any…

Thanks, everyone! My appointment yesterday went really well! I spent a few minutes rambling about it last night: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/DucklingtoSwan MFP has made ALL the difference this time around, there is no question in my mind now.

If you were starting out at a much higher weight, you could probably drop that quickly for a short time. But I honestly think you might be setting yourself to fail here. I agree with everyone about your food, your plan is so aggressive you are going to make yourself miserable. I would hate to see you set such an…

Had a follow-up appointment with my Dr. to discuss my test results taken Friday: From Dec 17 to April 18: Cholesterol has dropped from 257 to 202 (standard range 100-200- almost 'normal'!) Ldl ('bad' cholesterol) has gone from 165 to 129 Hdl ('good' cholesterol) has gone from 42 to 55 Triglyceride has dropped from 186 to…

Today, I got a little bit of work done on some props I'm building for the theater. (Way behind, the next two weeks are going to get real interesting real fast.) Went a little bit over my calories today, nothing huge. I don't always eat back my exercise calories but today I factored them in and so netted only a little over.…

This is just an idea, but what if you increase your calories just to maintenance mode so you have a little more to work within while staying in control? If it's only a few days it shouldn't be a big deal... you won't lose, but you won't gain either.

Sweet holy hell, what great pictures. :noway:

In my mid 20's I hovered between about 5 pounds of the same weight about eight years, then I started on Loestrin in 1997. I gained ten pounds in about a year, but it was a while before I made the connection (I was a bit thick, and not just in weight  ) over the next few years I gained and gained, slowly and…

See, here's the thing... I don't really see anything wrong with a little Dark Sarcasm in the Classroom. Though I also think that maybe the teachers should wait to "leave them kids alone" until AFTER the grammar lesson. Just saying.

I'm going to have to look into one of these... I have sleep issues as well, so it would be great to be able to track that along with my steps. How do I go about finding one?

I know that we were not there and since it's hard to convey tone when you're typing it's impossible for us to have heard how he was saying these things to you... he could have meant no harm, or he could have been being very nasty. My husband can sometimes act like a total jerk and say things that reduce me to tears, though…

I actually just spent some time musing along this very line of thought... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/DucklingtoSwan/view/if-every-day-was-like-today-651617

Today I am 247 lbs. In 5 weeks I would very much like to be 125 lbs. THAT said... perhaps a tad more realistically, after thinking about it I have decided to shoot for 232, which is 15 lbs from now. Aggressive? Yes. But I have been losing anywhere from 1-2 lbs a week thus far, and that's with several treat-days…

It turned out he did agree they were good results, not as excited as I am about it but there you are. I guess he can still surprise me sometimes.

I think you look great, not like you have really much to lose. Why would you want to stop drinking white wine? White wine is the nectar of the gods lol... seriously, unless it makes you jump up on restaurant tables and fling cocktail-napkin ninja stars at people, there is no reason to give up the occasional glass. (Key word…

This! You look terrific!!!

I won't even go into everything that is going on with my life (this is about you, not me) but I do want to tell you something I'm learning over these last few weeks of trying to take better care of myself in the midst of all the chaos... in taking control of one of the few things I CAN control right now, i.e. the food I…

I am about 5'1" and trying to shoot for 125. Your pics are incredible and SO inspiring. Thank you for posting them, REALLY!

This. I have had much, much worse calorie totals on less food. That's actually very good, from the perspective of how much you ate. As others have said here, you are HUMAN. One bad meal is not going to undo everything you've worked for. That is, if you don't LET it. Get right back on track starting at your very next meal…

I have not tried the scar serum, but Palmers makes a coco butter stretch mark lotion that I love, it is thick and creamy and vanishes right in and smells great, And they carry a coconut oil that is supposed to help diminish scars and stretch marks, though I can't find it in stores around here. For scars I also like…

I have never tried any of the challenge groups before, maybe it's time :-) How do you want it to work? (Weigh ins here, or go by tickers, etc?) Not sure if I am ready to post my actual weight, though... sounds stupid, I know... :embarassed: but think I need a challenge to keep me going.
