Protein is often too low, especially if you are doing any resistance training. You could have gained [most likely] water weight from what you ate the other day[high sodium?] . Or you may be starting to gain muscle tissue[not as likely].

A pound is a pound: fat, muscle, bone or monkey poo.

Not familiar with this programme but, the best way to recover from training soreness is to keep moving [light activity] and drink plenty of water.

Unfortunately, sodium metabolism is not so simplistic. It involves things like baroreceptors, angiotensin, vasopressin, aldosterone, dopamine levels, maintaining blood pressure and volume, level of hydration and more. I'm not well versed in this subject to be able to tell you much more than that unfortunately; talking to a…

Excellent idea! I usually advise that clients just don't eat out. Eating at home is cheaper and YOU control all the ingredients and cooking methods; invite friends and family over to your place and prepare them a healthy, home-cooked meal!

I'm not going to swear that I'm right, but those percentages look pretty close to the numbers the FDA and Health Canada used to recommend decades ago. I wouldn't be surprised if they have not been updated. The sad thing is that high carbohydrate diets are more associated with obesity, metabolic syndrome, and CV disease…

Don't worry about it. Keep eating as you're supposed to and in a few days you may even discover that you have shed extra pounds.

The crap thing with tons of exercises is that people make up their own names for them. An L-leg lift or whatever could be a donkey kick or a glute kick-up.... Look for alternate names maybe?

Get in really great shape and then show it off to her to make her jealous. That's motivation.

The causes of this type of behaviour are often- emotional, chemical &/or hormonal. Chemical: stop drinking alcohol or smoking weed. Emotional: the hardest one- seek a psychologist.[but maybe mute and looking away from the TV when commercials come on might help some] Hormonal: Are you an athlete? If not, your daily carb…

You need to drink extra water to get rid of SOME. Keep in mind that you will also get rid of other minerals[and likely fall short of RDA] The best way to get rid of lots of salt is to SWEAT a lot and exercise.

I've had my issues... Lately i'm getting muscular and joint inflammation quite badly and it's really messing with my exercise and therefore my head. I've just ordered a huge amount of tumeric which i will encapsulate and take daily. to help reduce the severity of the problem. My kidneys went a few years back, but i managed…

Barney's posts are dead-on IMO. Kudos to the thread starter. INSULIN Management is KEY. SUgars are sugars, natural or not. They cause larger insulin spikes in many cases than starches. The trend in ingredients these days is fructose... They bank on the fact that people fall for the " natural is good" gimmick. Cocaine is…

OH weird, I have systemic lupus as well ! As does my sister and one of my ex-girlfiends. Trust me on the video-ing thing, it is a great tool.

If you are doing things unattended, MAKE FULLY sure that you know the EXACT motions involved. An inch, a couple degrees off , and things become very different. Mirrors and even better, a video cam would be valuable tools for this.

Muscle tear? Or herniated disks? If it's the fibrous connective tissue [lots in the lower back/pelvis] then strength training will do little. If it's a muscular tear, then you may be able to re strengthen the area. If it's disks, then you could train to minimize strength imbalances and help correct the cause, but the disks…

It's a long journey, but so is life. welcome.

I weigh my food for about 1/2 of the year, every year. You have to do "check-ups" on yourself so to speak.

Thanx. I will try. But I should state that I do this all day, 6 days a week to get paid, so I make no promises that i will be around a lot in my free time "thinking about work" if you get me? :o)

Oh , about this part- if you have the option, choose a trainer with some rehab experience. I have worked with many trainers that don't even know anatomy, or biology basics. Be picky. What is wrong with your back?

Runningman, I'm in western canada out of a Gold's. Cynthia, unfortunately diet and exercise go hand in hand. Combined they have a "whole is greater than the sum of the parts" type thing. If you DO little your body adapts to that and tries to become more efficient at that, slowing down your metabolic rate further and…

I'm fine with small night time snacks as long as they're of something smart... Good ones for myself are- -Simple whey protein shake with nothing extra thrown in other than maybe 1 tbsp olive oil. - 1-2 tbsp of NATURAL peanut butter, or NATURAL almond butter. - 2 eggwhites with 2 tbsp of no sugar added salsa. - Broccoli or…
