Thank you for this link. I'm going to watch all of these.

Congratulations!!!!

Yeah, you are way under caloried. I put your numbers into 4 on-line BMR/TDEE calculators that are most widely used (IIFYM, Fat2FitRadio, Scooby's Workshop, & Fitness Frog). They are all fairly consistent. Your BMR is somewhere around 1860. And given what you said about your life and exercise regimen, your TDEE is somewhere…

But I would also add, that I would make sure about your cholesterol levels before starting MCTs. If you know your cholesterol and trigylcerides are fine, ok. But if they aren't, I would advise against it. And if you don't know, get them tested first. And MCT isn't a long-term solution, at least from the reports I've seen.

Can you try it with a different browser (Firefox, IE, Chrome). Or purge your cache (you'll have to log back in but that normally clears it. Annoying I know).
-
It would also help to know your current stats: height, current weight, and goal weight.

But as far as joint relief, I wouldn't expect it from MCT oil. But if you aren't taking already, you really should be taking glucosamine/condroitin. Every doctor (both family and orthopedic) I've talked to, as well as every personal trainer recommends it. But don't look to MCT for that. And I really wouldn't expect MCT…

I have used it in the past with success. And I'm just re-introducing it into my diet now that I'm heading back up into maintenance and then bulking because I need to add calories and I'm low on fats. In the past, I normally just found things I could add it to directly (like my oatmeal in the morning). Just 1-3 Tablespoons…

So many reasons, it's hard to pick one. A big chunk of it is ego, from different aspects. It makes me feel great to have people come up and say how good I look with the weight I've lost. It makes me feel good to know that I can go to any pool, any beach and feel good about taking off my shirt and look good. I love to…

You will definitely want to add hYpErDrOnE. He is a good one. Glad he is on my friends list.

Gay. Gay, gay, gay, gay, gay, gay. I spent too damned many years at the back of the damned closet that almost sucked out my soul, and took my life from me to be anything other than what I am. A proud and now out gay man. The last 3 years since coming out have been the happiest and best years of my life. I am a gay man.…

Or you could just keep putting it off. Further and further. Until one day you wake up, look in the mirror and wonder: "HOW IN THE HELL DID i GET TO BE 57 YEARS OLD?" Or you could do the work now. Sure it may not be easy for a bit. But then you might get to enjoy the hell out of the rest of your life. Instead of sitting…

That would probably be light exercise. But that in a nutshell is the problem I have with the BMR/TDEE online calculators. What is light? What is moderate? Some say how many days a week do you exercise? Well some exercise 20-30 minutes 3 days a week. Others might train hard for 2-3 hours 3 days a week. Is that the same…

Be back in a few with a few thoughts. Looking up a few things.

Sorry, but I gotta do this to you. Mama J's Kitchen here in Richmond, VA. The best restaurant in town, A small soul food restaurant. Soul as in they put their soul and a whole lotta love into everything. Here was dinner Wednesday night: fried chicken, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes & gravy, string beans and cornbread. I…

Welcome to the community. Like you, I was logging for a few months before I ventured over here. The community can be a place of great support, motivation, and yes, occasionally cattiness (just ignore that -- internet trolls are everywhere). In the time I've been here, I've made some amazing friendships with people…

Or, if you know you are accurately logging what you eat, and recording your weight, you could use your actual data to design what you need based upon your body instead of some online calculator which are so generic they can tend to be wildly inaccurate for some people. My real results from my logging and exercise and…

But I must emphasize, if you are older, if you have joint issues, if you have arthritis, I cannot stress enough how helpful Glucosamine/Condroitin is. I've had multiple doctors, from orthopedic docs to family docs, and many personal trainers all say the same thing. I was in the gym last week when a trainer was talking with…
-
Where to begin: of course a multi-vitamin ( a good idea for anyone). Glucosamine/condroitin (for those of us older, with joint issues, with arthritis, etc. an absolute must). To help the battle against cholesterol, quite a few: fish oil, niacin (plus benadryl to counteract niacin's effects), magnesium, red yeast rice,…

Well I about as far from your size and age as you can get but feel free to add me if you like. I read your post and have a couple of thoughts. I took a couple of minutes and plugged your numbers into 4 online calculators to calculate your BMR and TDEE. I was checking for consistency and to see what they thought and make…

When the dream jeans, the size you always wanted to get into and never thought you ever could, start to become too lose and you have to think about replacing them with something smaller. (God, does that one ever feel incredible). Being able to go hog wild at Andrew Christian's website cause you look good in his stuff.…

Well hopefully you can at least enjoy this. One of the great "blond jokes", thanks to the librarian. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DctVteQDRIM

Abram -- have you joined the Eat, Train, Progress group? That is one place you should definitely be. Sarah and SideSteel are great reasources as are all the other members too.

Maybe even the least likely place to find your partner on-line. Craigslist. I had been out only 6 months. I had never actually been on a date with another man. Sure I'd had hookups but not an actual date. Now in our town, at least, guys on Craigslist are a trip into the odd. I look at it now for entertainment purposes only…

Thanks.

I'll tell you this Abram, because of the advice here and from friends in private messages, I have gone back and double checked all my math in recalculating my maintenance target, what I have actually taken in, and expanded the time frame for that evaluation. Because of that, I've lowered my daily target for this week by 50…

What do you call the person who graduated at the bottom of his class at medical school? Doctor.

Out of curiosity, how are you calculating your maintenance calories? In looking at your diaries going back a few weeks, you aren't eating anywhere near even maintenance. To jump from weight loss to bulk immediately I think is asking for fat gain, not muscle gain.
-
Abram -- you and I are in the same boat. Both moving towards maintenance before moving towards bulking. And I've been given the same advice. Move slowly. 100-150 calories a week. Let your body adjust, And as you move closer to maintenance it will rise, so you'll need to go a bit higher to stabilize before you move to…
