I’m not sijomial but you might be interested in my experience. On 26 Dec 2022 I was 102.9kg, and as of yesterday I am now 83.5kg. I’ve lost nearly 20kg. I had quite a belly and now I have flat stomach. Diet: I adopted intermittent fasting regime (16/8). On the days I work (4days per week) I don’t eat anything until 12.30pm…

It’s individual and a lot depends on your body. When I set up MFP my goal was to lose 1kg a week. Shortly after I started intermittent fasting (16/8). So I have been on a base of 1200 calories per day. I also exercise everyday. Depending on how many calories I burn during workout I increase my calorie intake - but usually…

I frequently cook tofu. Keep in mind that it has little taste but absorbs the flavour of the sauce it’s cooked in. My go-to is a tofu and vegetable stir-fry. Firm tofu is best for this. Get your block and unpack and wrap in a tea-towel for about 30 minutes. Place a weight on top such as a small pot filled with water. This…

I agree with SuzySunshine when she said “ The best way to prepare for any physical activity is...to do the activity.” It’s very true. However, quite often we may not have the time or opportunity to do the activity but we can still train for it. I’m planning on flying to the US in the beginning of August to hike sections of…

Don’t snack! Embrace the hunger! Change your relationship with food by changing your behaviour. If the hunger is difficult, go and do something else like go for a walk or some other activity. You’ll notice that your hunger will come and go in waves. Be strong, stick to your plan and you will achieve your goal. Wishing you…

The way I do intermittent fasting is to fast for 17.5 hours and my eating period is 7.5 hours. How it actually plays out is when I break my fast I eat a high protein bar and then nothing until my evening meal at about 6.00 or 6.15pm. Once a week or two weeks I do a 24 hour fast. My goal is to lose weight so I build into it…

Hi Yukizz and welcome! Wishing you every success! Ben

I'm sorry if other people have said this but cooking isn't exercise. However, if you are truly pedantic, no pun intended, wear a heart rate monitor while you cook. Kind regards, Ben

Thank you for this!

Thank you, Leanna. You're a legend! Kind regards, Ben

Last nights leftovers which was 1cup brown rice and a Mediterranean chickpea stew, miso and tahini dressing for the rice and a cup of Russian Caravan tea.

Madam, to you I take off my hat and bow. People who don't clean their sweat off machines is a real bug bear of mine! An awkward moment that I experienced, was when I was having a shower after a workout at my old gym. This guy got into the next cubicle. And there were a row of cubicles with a shower curtain. Anyway, this…

I regularly burn between 700 to 1200 cal per session, but they go longer than one hour. My cardio workout includes stat bike (rpm), elliptical trainer, stat rowing, and running. Usually a combination. I'm about to also include swimming. Kind regards, Ben

Damn, and I was going to suggest a deep fried frozen turkey! Have fun with your family dinner. Ben

I'm sorry, but I don't understand this and those who have advocated that it's ok to leave for whatever reason. If you treat the most important relationships in your life as though they are disposable, then you only set yourself up for future unhappiness. I, for one, recommend that you both go to some couple counselling.…

Well done on your great achievement! Buying new clothes does cost a fortune. One of the great joys of losing weight is fitting back into clothes I haven't worn for years. Keep up the great work!

With respect, I don't think it matters how big the working muscles are. From the journal of sports science: What is relevant, in calculating calories, is age, weight, and heart rate Kind regards, Ben

I'm on a whole foods plant based diet now for over ten weeks. I've also reduced my added sugar to nearly zero. I continue to eat fruit and dried fruit. The sugars in whole fruit and dried fruit are metabolised differently than added sugar and fruit juice as a result of the fibre which also acts to reduce cholesterol. Kind…

I use spices all the time. In fact it's a rare meal that doesn't have spices in theme. I don't bother logging spices because there are so few calories in them. I suggest you do the same. All the best. Ben

I do feel for you. I do the cooking in our household. About ten weeks I went on a whole food plant-based (vegan) diet. It has been one of the best things I have done for my health. My family have been really good about it too. They are avid meat eaters. I do cook separate meals for them two or three times a week - it helps…

I've been vegan now for ten weeks or so, and one of the best things I have done for my health. My number one source for nutrition information is www.nutritionfacts.com. It is well researched, accessible and independent. Also check out the 'team vegan' group. If you have any specific questions - please feel free to message…

Actually, it depends how well cooked it is. And there are some strains of bacteria and viruses that survive cooking. Despite the humorous responses, food contamination kills not an insignificant number of people each year.

Hi Lexandrea Mine come out looking dry because I drizzle them in a little oil and then douse in some spices and salt. Also, I don't turn mine during the cooking process. If the veggies are being turned then they will come out with a sheen. You might want to ask the cooks in your dining hall how much oil they use. Let them…

Give them up before they kill you. And they will kill you.

I have been cooking for 35 years and have worked as a chef. Roast vegetables are not naturally oily. Your dining hall cook is either adding oil at the beginning of cooking or at the end. Keep in mind that a little oil is ok. When I roast my vegetables, I use a good quality extra virgin olive oil lightly drizzled over the…

Excellent NSV! I had one like it yesterday when I put on my 'new' suit that I bought last November. The trousers just fell straight off. The shirt collar was too big. The belt that I bought with the suit was even too big. Fortunately I had time to find another belt and off I went to an interview. Anyway, enough about me.…

Hi Christina I am sorry for the lack of support in your life. Hopefully, MFP will provide you with lots of people who will be there when you stumble and cheer you on with every success. The fact of the matter is, the vast majority of people here are probably doing their weight loss/health & wellbeing "thing" on their own…
