  • Bump for all the yummy-looking recipes!!
  • It would depend on the age and maturity of the children. For me, I am able to leave my children at home when I go to the gym and when I go for a run in the neighborhood. I use the Road ID app when I'm running in the neighborhood and my younger child can watch my progress on the computer. Good luck. I know it's a difficult…
  • ^^ This. I have 2 daughters, the younger one is 9 and this is happening to her. We went through this with my older daughter, too. When my older daughter was this age, she went from being "skinny Minnie" to having a thick midsection seemingly overnight. Then she blossomed and all of a sudden she had hips, a small waist, etc.
  • I'm on my second pair of Brooks...LOVE them!! But, like many others have suggested, go to a specialty running store. They should measure your foot, your arch, check pronation, and put you on a treadmill so they can check out your foot strike. Your weight will also be a factor. Don't be surprised if they recommend you go up…
  • This may sound funny, but massage the thigh of the leg that is hurting. Use your knuckles and really get in there, especially on the outside of your leg. Hope you feel better!!
  • I either eat two graham crackers or two FRS Energy Chews and drink a cup of ice water. I tried 1/2 cup applesauce, but that was NOT a good idea -- hurt my stomach.
  • Bumping for the great information!
  • What a FANTASTIC accomplishment!! You should be proud of yourself!! I recently upped my distance to 4 miles and ran a 10k last week so I understand how exciting it is to meet a goal. Keep it up and I hope to be where you are soon!!
  • My nephew has a hard time eating breakfast because it makes him feel sick. But, he started drinking smoothies with protein and it's helped quite a bit. Maybe play around with different smoothies/protein shakes to see what is best for you.
  • Always looking for supportive friends ... feel free to add me. Age: 44 Ht: 5'8" SW: 238 CW: 197.4 GW: 175 (or less -- I'll make that decision when I get here) I started in January 2013 and have had good success with using MFP. I didn't realize the calories I was eating before January.
  • Okay, I've had a chance to read some posts and think about my June goals. (I'm new to this thread, so please bear with me.) Last week (in May) I hit two goals: I made it to One-derland and I started running with a neighbor. We ran 2 miles on Weds and Fri last week. We agreed to run Mon/Weds/Fri at 6am. For June, I'd like…
  • Interested in joining the group. Bumping until I have more time to read & set goals (tonight). Leigh-Ann in Georgia
  • Don't forget to allow calories for the milk!:drinker:
  • My bosses told me he day before they wanted to take me to lunch so I could have the chance to scout out menus online and adjust my calories for the next day.
  • Bump -- to try later :)
  • ^^ THIS!! Brush your teeth or chew some strong mint gum to get the sweet taste out of your mouth. Or, like someone else posted, throw it in the trash. My daughter made mini cupcakes and I was allowing myself one a day (~50 calories). But then she left for the weekend. I know my propensity to binge, so I threw them in the…
  • I recently went through an online nutrition course and I learned a new way of looking at sweets (my personal kryptonite). You do not have to give up the things you love. You always have a choice whether or not to put it into your mouth. So, for this moment in time, is eating that sweet the best choice for you? Probably not…
  • A great reminder, thank you. I had this same thought this morning -- only 1 lb this week. But I see that it is nothing to shake my head at.
  • Stretch your legs, ankles & feet for a few minutes before getting out of bed -- rotate ankles both directions, straighten legs while flexing feet, point & flex. Like another poster mentioned, freeze a water bottle and roll your foot over it a couple times per day. Get a massage and tell them about the problem -- they…
  • My new favorite: Double Chicken Chopped Salad with spinach, cucumbers, onions, bell pepper, olives, tomatoes, and a smidge of shredded cheese. YUMMY and full of protein. I use my own dressing, though.
  • YES. During the work week I log my food the night before when I prepare my lunch and snacks. I plan my breakfast and dinner the night before, too. If I know I am going out to eat, I try to look at the restaurant website for nutrition values when available. It helps me stick to my plan. I make adjustments throughout the day…
  • Moving Comfort!! I like the Maia style. It's so comfortable you can wear it everyday. It has cups and underwire and doesn't smooth, but you won't bounce around. I wear mine for 5ks, Zumba, and CrossFit without any problems.
  • Slice a banana and place on waxed paper. Drizzle a small amount of chocolate syrup on each piece, then freeze all of them. A few pieces should satisfy your craving. You can also use peanut butter on top or even crushed graham crackers. All are yummy, sweet and not bad for you.
