I haven't taken metformin, but if you are trying to conceive and hopeful to get your own periods soon (yipee!), there are pretty cheap ovulation tests available for purchase through amazon. They can be tricky to read sometimes since you are comparing to a control line that is different each time, but a positive is clearly…

Update just in case anybody searches for this again: urologist friend who specializes in infertility (but for males) said use preseed. He said some people also use egg whites, but that that is gross. Ha!

How did it go?

Hang in there! You should never be ashamed of taking control of your body and health. What would be lame, however, would be to suffer through it in agony because you didn't want to inconvenience anyone else, especially a doctor! I hope you feel better soon, immediately would be even better.

Update: I called my ob/gyn's office to see what I was supposed to now and they think I just did the u/s too early. (Why then, does the paperwork say days 10-12)? I will go in again on Monday (CD 14) to see if any progress has been made. I will pick up a trigger shot beforehand so they can administer if appropriate while I…

Work it! Healthy habits you start now will help you through your pregnancy, and then you can pass them on to your baby!

Thank you, ladies! I really appreciate the feedback! I'm holding on to the slim chance that this 9mm follicle will be the one! It's always nice to hear from someone who has done the same thing or is doing it now.

Looks like I had about 20 tiny follicles on my right ovary ( a non-PCOS lady could expect to have around 10) and only one "dominant" follicle on the left measuring at 9mm on CD10. I'm not sure what the next step is, but it looks like 50mg of clomid was not the answer for me this round.

Best wishes on your upcoming marriage! Are you on birth control now? From experience, I would recommend that you stay on the pill until after the wedding. When I stopped, I lost a lot of hair and gained a lot of acne because of the testosterone. In short, I was much cuter when I was on the pill, and for my wedding pictures…

Have they ever done an ultrasound? I have no theories on this one.

Sorry about the diagnosis. I am a recent joiner also, and have found this group to be incredibly helpful. It was easier than I expected to give up soda. I just stopped buying it. If a drink is included in my meal, I may still get a Dr. Pepper, but rarely. Think of how much you'll be saving in calories and money!. Sodas at…

I was thinking of you this morning. How are you doing with a few extra hundred calories a day?

I just did a search for pre-seed and found this discussion. Any opinions from those who have used pre-seed?

That is fantastic!

I think you are doing the right thing by increasing your calories. You shouldn't starve yourself! Just pick the right kind of snacks. Your life is not "Biggest Loser" it's okay to lose weight at a pace that is healthy for you. If adding calories doesn't help, please go see a doctor!

Welcome aboard! Have you been to a doctor here yet? A doctor with fresh eyes may be able to set things in the right direction. I'm not overweight, but went to the ob/gyn when I was going 50-60 days without a period after I came off of the pill. I just finished a round of provera to force my period to come (apparently it is…

I start taking clomid tomorrow! I'm excited but trying not to get my hopes up too much. At first I think "why would it NOT work for me", but then remember I also must ask "why don't your lady parts work in the first place!" At least this provera induced period isn't that bad (not yet at least.) Good luck, ladies!

Sorry, meant 10 pounds total. At one point I was down 2 pounds, but then recently checked again and it was more like...down .5 pounds. I'm not sure how much is effort and how much is water weight. Thanks for the encouragement, ladies!

There are several "lady" apps that help you track your period. And, if you were actually ovulating, tell you your fertile range. Unrelated, my primary care physician (when I was on the pill and blissfully unaware of PCOS) suggested that I keep a running log of medical stuff (dates I took which medicines, my reactions to…

Well, I'm proud of you. You have succeeded in losing the weight and maintaining the loss WITH PCOS and a toddler.

Thanks for the tip! I'll try that next time (if there has to be a next time).

Thank you for sharing and congratulations on your growing family! You look great!

Starting provera today. My longest so far was 63 days, I think, but they keep getting longer every time. Lots of wasted pregnancy tests and disappointment before we figured out there was something wrong. That whole "your body has to adjust to not being on the pill" line was a load of crap. Fortunately, I went to the gyn 5…

My high testosterone inspired me to use the heavier weights during zumba today. Yeah! I also wondered if I had tried to be an athlete (ha!) if my testosterone level would have gotten me accused of doping or banned from competition for an unfair advantage. I'm not sure where the cuttoff is.

The combination of 3 month at a time birth control (Aviane to be specific) and spironlactone worked really well for my acne. I'm not sure if it had any impact on my blood pressure. I took 1 pill a day instead of the prescribed 2, but the doctor told me as long it was working for me, that was fine. No babies while on it…

During graduate school my acne resurfaced (after taking accutane as a teen), and they put me on spironolactone . When I had my makeup done for my wedding she covered one little blemish and my chest and back were totally clear. Fast forward a couple of years and I'm off the birth control pill and spironlactone---crazy acne…

That's great! I hope the rest of the pregnancy goes smoothly!

Me too. I'm 5'4" and around 118 pounds. I am trying to get down to maybe 112-115. After I came off the pill a lot of hair fell out and all of a sudden I have "bacne." I suffered through accutane as a teen, I guess it didn't fix the problem. Actually, I've been treated for PCOS without knowing it during grad school-- bc and…

How did it go?

Me! Expecting the official diagnosis on Monday and hoping they start me on Clomid right away. I was underweight in high school and early college (no eating disorder or anything, just scrawny), so when I came off the pill after 8 years I thought my periods would be normal. First cycle after stopping the pill was 33 days,…
