sweet potatoes - fries, or baked with salsa. peanut butter and banana on toast. those are my favorite.

i use the scale as a rough guide a few times a week, and i use how tight my jeans are as a measure. That's enough for me!

Running gloves and one of those ear warmer headband thingies are my go to items! The rest I leave to layering, long sleeve top with a jacket or fleece over it is usually enough. When it's really cold I have extra thick running tights that are lined with this fleecey velvety stuff that are great.

Agree with the advice of one day at a time and small changes - they all add up, and it's easier to focus one small goals rather than the long term end goals, which can seem far away and discouraging. Having said that, they ARE good for helping you make the small decisions - examples of things I do are ask myself what is…

i go raw as i assume it's better to round up than down. it's also a lot easier to get raw info, and i imagine it's more accurate than cooked as how you cook it would make a difference (how much fat is rendered off etc.) but for really lean things like chicken, i'll go cooked if it's available

it's 935am here - i'm at work, on a conference call. guess i better pay attention rather than read MFP... :#

another vote for soda water and lime (i don't like lime cordial, so I just ask for a couple wedges of lime or lemon.) slimline tonic is good too, it's got a few calories but it's somewhere around 10 so nothing that'll really dent your calories for the day. Cranberry and soda is nice too if you don't mind having like 20…

i had an L4/L5 tear and and L5/S1 herniation, still suffer with them, but back to (almost) all of my activities - i had to start with the basics - nothing but walking. lots of it. I did a lot of core and stabalising work too so that the muscles in that area were as strong and supportive as possible, and then eventually i…

in for the responses - i'm the same. i also lean too far forwards, and as much as i try to keep my chest up, the minute i get close to parallel, i end up leaning forward so as not to fall backwards. I am starting to wonder if it's just my structure - i'm long legged, short torso with limited lower back flexibility from a…

another vote for oven roasted, you can put just about any veg in the oven with some olive oil and get great results. and to mix it up, try different seasonings and spices - roasting the same veg with garlic, salt, pepper, or instead with cajun spices, or ground cumin and coriander with chili powder, will all give you…

HI, I have a vivofit and it doesn't actually put the steps onto MFP, it'll just do a calorie adjustment based on burn, and sync any activities other than steps that you've logged on it (so when i wear my HRM with my vivofit to run or whatever, it'll pull that activity time and calories across into exercise.) i actually…

not all restaurant calories will be on the site already. If the restaurant provides nutritional info, you can manually add the food in (either via recipe or quick add depending on how detailed you want to go in terms of macro breakdown) Otherwise, you'll just need to quick add calories according to your best guess based on…

Same here. Don't get me wrong, i still eat them - just had two slices of white toast this morning. But, I don't eat them often, maybe a couple of times a week at most, because I notice a direct relationship between how much bread/pasta/cake etc I eat, and how often/badly I binge and want to binge. When I cut back on these,…

oh, I like this thread.* people using apostrophes incorrectly for plural and possessive words * use of 'loose' instead of 'lose' on this forum * people who press the button on the crosswalk, then walk across when there is a gap in traffic anyway. If you weren't going to wait for the lights to change, then don't press the…

that's a great accomplishment, well done!

Megan, very sorry to hear your dad is so unwell but what a brave and selfless thing to step up and help in this way. OP - this could be one of your children, posting this about you - is that really worth the reeses pieces??

unless you're squeamish about it, try not limiting yourself to foods traditionally considered breakfast foods, and just eat the stuff you like for lunch/dinner at breakfast as well. I find that no matter what you are trying to eat/avoid, removing time of day parameters to food helps give you more options.

I think it's good but taste is subjective, what I think is good you may find gross so the best way to find out if it tastes good is to try it!

this post just made my morning. thank you.

look up the perceived rate of exertion scale - helps with the 'gut feel' method, so as a generic response I'd say you don't necessarily need a HRM. 'Strenuous' is a relative term - what might be strenuous for me might be a walk in the park for you, so it's more important to concentrate on how you're feeling when you do an…

Amazing transformation, well done! Also, your hair is fabulous!

same but with hot tea. now wiping my monitor.

i am not a picky eater and am happy to eat most things . There are two exceptions: raw celery- it is the devil. the smell alone makes me want to vomit everywhere. bits of it cooked in a stew/soup are fine though as long as there's not too much. goji berries - red boogers. no thanks.
-
i cannot bite into cherry tomatoes as the bursting sensation makes me think of biting into a cockroach or something - ew. but if i cut them in half first, they're fine. i eat pizza slices crust first, then turn it back around and eat it 'normally.' handful of M&Ms/skittles/something similar - have to have the same number…

Glad this got bumped, I needed to see this today. <3 well done OP, amazing transformation and great advice, thank you!

This really made me laugh! Seriously OP, google obesity rates in Europe, US, Canada- wherever. There will be some pockets of population where the rate is higher but they probably correlate with overall population size- I think wherever you go, you are going to see people of all shapes and sizes, and if you are noticing…

this thread makes me sad :( its once a year, just have a smaller portion of the things you think are 'unhealthy' and a larger portion of the turkey/salad/veg since those are almost always an option. by 'unhealthy' i can only assume you actually mean to say 'high calorie' and making slightly lower calorie versions of foods…

still not quite in my overall goal of my old favourite jeans... but I need to buy new work trousers as all 4 pairs are now too big! never been so excited to have to spend money!
