  • check craig's list or ebay for a second hand one maybe? Or if you'd feel safer with a guarantee, there's stores that will sell both new and used equipment and you might be able to buy something used with a warranty. Last thought - some gyms will sell their old equipment when they upgrade to new, but again you never know…
  • because it tastes good? and maybe there's something about the caloric density of those foods that makes us crave them on a biological level as a good source of energy in the form of calories, but that's me speculating out of boredom and i have no desire to research whether there's any science for or against that. I vote…
  • Ha. I dunno - perhaps the desire that maybe, just maybe, going back for more might result in getting that pat on the back/gold star that they really want? Some are just gluttons for punishment - once I have put my hand in the fire and realised that it burns, i stay away. I guess some think that one time it'll tickle…
  • some people derive a larger proportion of their self worth from the opinion of others. I suspect for some people it may be easier to disregard the opinions of 'strangers.' But for others who suffer with insecurities and anxiety about what other people think of them, to hear or see anything negative makes them question…
  • I'm glad you reacted positively to hearing it and it isn't a fear any longer. Now the trick is not to let it control you - use it to motivate you to make healthy choices, and let how you feel, how your clothes fit, and your energy levels be your real measures of progress. The scale can only be one small indication of your…
  • Is there a 'standing ovation' smiley? there should be.
  • this looks really good, thank you. i love butternut squash and now that it's in season, it'll be on the menu for a while!
  • i find that making some time to exercise means i'm more focussed, and I sleep better. So maybe it'll actually give you more energy and focus, and you won't be as exhausted from school work? You don't need to go to the gym to exercise either, there's lots of great at home workouts which are free that you can do that you can…
  • i put on my jeans that are normally take a bit of wrangling to button, but they went on nice and easy today. definitely smiling now!
  • have to agree with everyone saying that if you don't like it don't eat it. but if it's just that you're bored of them, check sites like pinterest for salad recipes, you'll find tons of wierd and wonderful combinations. you'll always get bored of something that you eat all the time, so don't think of a salad as a set…
  • i never feel like i want to exercise, so i tell myself to at least go put my workout clothes on, then see how i feel. then, once i'm dressed for it, i usually still don't want to but i think, well, how about just 5 minutes now that I've taken the time to change? And then once I've done 5 minutes, I figure - guess I'll…
  • well done, great results! I love turbofire, i got amazing results from it too!
  • i hear you on that, they are my favourite. and somehow, until about 6 months ago, i had NEVER tried nutella before in my life. now that i have, and it is essentially just the middle of a ferrero rocher, it too is a favourite sweet treat by the spoonful. or if i have the calories for it, on a slice of toast. yum.
  • wow- amazing job, well done!
  • i followed the schedule when I did it as my main workout, mostly because i didn't trust myself to mix it up enough if i didn't (plus i DEFINITELY would have skipped the resistance classes!) Now i just do the odd one here and there, but i think if i was going to do the program again, I'd go back to the schedule.
  • spiralized zuchinni/courgette or squash - don't cook, just heatthrough with whatever sauce you're putting on, find that keeps them from getting squishy- but when i spiralize carrot, butternut squash, pumpkin or sweet potato, then i do cook those a bit first, but only for a few minutes. but i also second the votes on…
  • OP, never tried alternating days with it like you're asking, always did between 6-10 days of each level, usually 5 times a week. I imagine it would give you great results too, but I know personally, when i first did it - i would NOT have been able to do all of level 2, or most of level 3, without the strength i built up…
  • Is that an actual, genuine product name? Wow.
  • Yes, this. It's just the ticker that doesn't show it.
  • Yep that's where my mind went and the thought of potatoes mashed with dark chocolate nearly made me hurl I can only hope that was a troll.
  • I think what they mean is that you shouldn't need to restrict yourself to having a 'cheat' day. Instead, understand your intake daily/weekly, and enjoy whatever foods you want, in portions which fit in with your daily/weekly calorie goals, whatever day you want. This is a much healthier and sustainable way to eat, without…
  • My legs are the only part of my body aside from my hands that I wouldn't change!
  • i created my own bad experience just last week - i moved a few months ago, and just joined the local gym last month. Loving it so far, but have been a cardio queen and wanted to get back into strength training. I'm not ready yet to go into the free weights/do heavy lifitng/ etc - all the stuff everyone is always…
  • Brilliant, thanks for another fantastic interview with another inspirational and reliable source of info on MFP!
  • You might not be eating as much as you think - you say you don't have breakfast, have salad at lunch and zero noodles veg and passata for dinner? I think you'd struggle to be getting 1600 calories' worth of that!! If you're vegetarian, add some more protein in - will you eat eggs or dairy? if not, what about nuts, seeds,…
  • vanilla yogurt, pumpkin puree, cinnamon. or cocoa powder and a ripe banana.
  • well for the longest time it was just to get back to the weight i was 2 years ago and get into my favourite jeans. that's still true but i have a new reason now too...so that when i run into my ex and his new girlfriend, which is bound to happen eventually, i won't look like a bloated pig. childish, i know, but true.
  • Hated it, stuck with it and it went from being a chore to a fantastic stress reducing treat. Did my first 5k, loved it even more. Had a back injury, stopped for a year. Tried starting again, hated it and how it was hard again, stopped. Fast forward to 6 months ago, started again, hated it, got talked into training for a…
