Same here... I regularly have 2/3 of my daily calories at dinnertime because I am able to quite happily eat less in the day so i can enjoy a big dinner. This isn't always the case but it is nice to be able to do that. I only snack between meals if I'm super hungry. OP If you feel better eating throughout the day then by…

really glad i spotted this thread. I am at work, but stressing massively about my ex and can't concentrate, and all i want to do is go buy a massive hot chocolate, a croissant and some cake. it's all downstairs in the coffee shop and i just want to eat until i can't breathe but know that won't actually do a thing to help,…

the knowing nod/smile from other runners as we pass each other hill running! the 'is she crazy?!' looks from people passing by in cars when i'm running in the rain and drenched the fact that i can run again at all after 3 injury related years off the feeling of accomplishment when i get home the refreshment of a post run…

+1. It's only as expensive as you want it to be. You don't need a gym to exercise - walking, running, body weight exercises are free. At home equipment can be improvised or bought cheaply, the occasional pool visit or fitness class when you need it can usually be done as a one off cost. Investing in a bicycle may be an…

I don't think you necessarily need to give up anything that you enjoy, it's just about gaining control over when you have it and how much. If you enjoy wine, as you say perhaps not every weekend if it makes you ill, but certainly now and then gives you something to look forward to. And being able to have the things you…

no idea about whether it burns more calories or not, i'm sure you could find studies for and against. there's also plenty of articles and things out there about best times of day to workout. I've seen it said that it's better to do a few short bursts throughout the day when you can if you have a busy schedule, and others…

really, really cannot emphasize enough the importance of going to a store that will do a proper fitting, preferably with gait analysis that will help determine how much support you do (or do not) need. I made the mistake a few years ago when i first started running of just buying a pair, which were a lightweight neutral…

it's normal for weight to fluctuate day to day, and within a day. try not to weigh yourself daily, instead pick a particular day of the week, time, and conditions, so you can make consistent and equal comparisons. I usually do Friday mornings, right before getting in the shower in the morning.

i'm always so sad when the mods close these google translate gems down, they really do make me laugh.

if there is still room please count me in, don't mind which house but if I do get a choice I'll go for Slytherin!

I find exercising actually eases the pain, even if it's just a few bodyweight exercises or a walk. I know that's not the case for everyone, but maybe try going for a short walk and see how you feel? It may help!

Oh god, dairy queen is the food thing I miss most since I moved to the UK. Every time I visit home it's either the peanut buster parfait or strawberry blizzard on my must have list.

For those newer to strength training, is it possible to have a good, balanced program with dumbells only, no barbell? I've got a 40kg set and wonder how far they'll get me. If you've had a lower back injury that rules out deadlifts, any recommendations for a balanced program including some back strengthening that excludes…

i've never seen them take the OP off but leave the replies before - random....

another vote for this method. Also, i resist weighing more than once a week at most, as I know i fluctuate 1-2 lbs day to day. don't underestimate using measurements either - again probably best not to measure more than once a week, but sometimes when my scale doesn't move, my jeans are still getting looser, and ultimately…

just bought a flip belt last week, love it. no more annoying arm strap for phone, keys in pocket etc.

i use it plain instead of sour cream, but for sweet i do berries and a pinch of splenda if i really want it sweet, but normally the berries are enough.

oh thank god, i thought i was hearing voices in my head but it must just be my skin cells communicating. thank you OP for clearing that up.

make sure you are getting enough fuel including protein for muscle repair. are you warming up, and then stretching well after your workouts? those also help. finally - maybe a rest day now and then, if you are relying on your legs for all your workouts, it could just be that they need more time to recover!

I gave up the gym about 3 years ago when I realised I was only really going for the spin classes and therefore wasting money. Bought my own spin bike for when I had the craving, and then have been stockpiling my own stuff since. I don't miss the gym at all. A) What equipment do you use? I have a spin bike, mountain bike,…

It's definitely the one workout where even if i have no energy and really don't feel like doing anything, i know i will enjoy it once i get started. i did it all the way through a couple years ago and got fantastic results. now i just dip in and out when i want something different or need some motivation!
